I love Davids narratives. My background was his background so I can relate to the way he’s working. His lighting is really insane. Thanks so much for a great interview once again. This is my favorite podcast! I need to be watching every time you post one.
Jeff knows just the right questions to ask and how to really pry, and he also gives the person he is interviewing reign to say what they would like. Very well done always!
I've been binging these podcasts since I discovered them yesterday. I listen to a lot of podcasts and I have to say you are one of the best hosts I've ever listened to--between the questions you ask and how good of a listener you are, I can't get enough. Would love for you to get Colleen Barry on the show if possible... I'm sure it would make for a really good episode.
"...make beauty out of what feels imperfect." Love that discussion from my perspective of watching people engage with art in the gallery. So many great nuggets of information for artists. "...that little key of evidence that your mind needs to believe the scene." I know that is what I look to recognize in a great painting and what makes me never lose interest. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to BYU and time spent with David looking and talking the business of art with students.
Good morning Jeff. The work you are doing with this podcast is so important to everyone... the opportunity to meet all the fantastic artists interviewed, the opportunity to meet your fantastic work too, the questions always very well thought out, always on point. ..many congratulations, it's an unprecedented social altruism. For my part, congratulations and sincere thanks. May God continue to bless your path. Best regards . Emanuel Ribeiro
Wow, what a find! Fantastic interview, I learned so much. I loved the easy conversational style, Jeff's genuine interest, and David's generosity and authenticity. Thank you!
Another great interview, love Dibble's work. Such an inspiration when I found him. When I first saw his work I said "He's like Schmid if Schmid was into animation" and then found out a few months later he worked on animated films and everything clicked.
David has to be one of the more self-aware artists I’ve come across…so many decisions made along his development path which were wise beyond his years. Another great interview. Thanks, Jeff and David!
I only recently ran across David Dibble's work and still wondering how I haven't seen it before. But when I first saw it maybe 6 months ago, I fell in love with it. N I learned so much and he also put into words a lot of things I have felt for years but did not know how to express them in word or paint. I was listening while I was putting the first pass over a grisaille of a piece I just started and even put in a couple of things based on what he said and not what my reference was showing and already I know this will be a better painting than what planned. Just a small adjustment in my thinking not how I apply paint or a color I chose. Thank you for this Absolutely wonderful. Still trying to learn at 81. LOL!!!
Great Interview, How he is finding the story and editing the ref to emphasises the story he is finding. Coming from a strong Photoshop background so much of this was a great kick in the butt. Thanks so much Jeff and David
This was great. There is so much that David brought up that I'm going to need to watch this again. The chronology of his development as an artist is fascinating as well. As usual, your questions gave emphasis to what i was wondering as well or began to wonder after hearing you express it. I gained an even greater awe of his work. Thank you for interviewing David.
This is such a great episode! David, the discussion of 2+2=5 is a topic all by itself. I have been interested in this extra element in art that makes it great art, to stand the test of time. Feeling is so important. The why. It serves to connect the viewer and the artist’s moment. Thank you both for so much juicy information and insights!
Fantastic interview! David is humble and generous in sharing his vast knowledge. He's given me a new appreciation for how digital tools can aid the traditional painter. Also Jeff, this podcast is my new favourite! Your guests have all been top-notch artists and really candid in their interviews. I think that's a testament to your thoughtful questions and curiosity as a fellow artist. It's an easy conversational style among peers that offers up much wisdom to the listener.
Hi - I just wanted to tell you that I think your podcast is VERY well done.... you ask some interesting questions. The artists you interview have a wealth of information to share and I appreciate you taking the time to put the talks together. Being an artist myself (oil painter), I can relate to all of the trials and tribulations we face as artists. Keep up the great work!
The first painting was wonderful for me(I just started interview). I sense the box represents the “child play”imagination and the tracker is the powerful older (purposeful working) aged person. They share the same space with different ideas of time spent. Passing of time….
This is such a great podcast, one question I keep wanting to ask is what colors they have on their pallette? Just out of curiosity. You ask great questions and its a riveting podcast.I love that we get to see the artwork up close as well and see the brushstrokes. Thanks so much
What a great interview. Thanks. I'm catching up on some of your past podcasts and so glad I picked this one out.

Great stuff! Incredible insights again on how we can think so differently as painters. 🙏🎯

Learned SO much from this one! Thanks so much!
i started taking notes, the questions and answers were so good. I learned a lot; what a great experience while viewing deeply moving paintings.
Excellent interview questions and insightful responses from the artist. Loved the discussion and the wealth of information for artists at al levels.

thank you so much for this podcast! it's so helpfull and instructive!
Amazing.
The first painting was wonderful for me(I just started interview).
I sense the box represents the “child play”imagination and the tracker is the powerful older (purposeful working) aged person. They share the same space with different ideas of time spent. Passing of time….
Monet also did a series of haystacks at different times of day, and I think also different seasons.
david mentions he got it from monet like 2 mins later my friend 😅
How long it would take me to learn Photoshop to do such manipulations as David showed at the end? ...months?
Seriously, I suck at photoshop.

All of them.
