- Disney’s Moana Sequel Hilariously Addresses a Plot Hole from the First Movie. In the newly released trailer for Moana 2, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's character, Maui, makes a funny remark about Moana's pig, Pua, highlighting a big overlooked plot hole from the original film. In the trailer, Maui crash-lands on Moana's raft and jokes about eating Heihei and Pua. But when he sees Pua, he doesn’t recognize the pig and asks Moana, "Why didn’t you bring the pig last time?" This quick joke actually brings up a question fans have had since Moana first came out in 2016. Moana introduced both Heihei and Pua as Moana's animal sidekicks, yet only Heihei joined her on her adventure to return the Heart of Te Fiti. Moana 2 seems ready to finally address this long-standing question: why didn’t Moana bring Pua along?

1. The chicken snuck aboard
2. Even if she wanted to bring the pig for some reason it would be really mean bc he had just been traumatized from crashing in the ocean with Moana.
pua’s a girl btw, just saying!
I literally love Pua, the poor baby ❤❤
Exactly
Exactly I was going to say this
3.Literally no one questioned why the pig didn’t come with her
How is media literacy this bad, the chicken joined Moana without her knowledge, meaning she didn’t intend to bring either but he snuck aboard anyway, and in this movie it’s likely that she chose to bring them both. It’s not a plot hole if you pay even a little bit of attention
that’s in film verse tho. In terms of plot the writers could of literally just written the pig in easily but they choose not to
Edit: People say it wouldn’t of added much to the movie so why they adding it to the 2nd one + lots of Disney movies have 2 animals.
Edit 2: I can’t be asked to read your paragraphs of yapping so yeah.
Gotta ruin the fun? The point of the video is the chicken is "brought" (in mowi's eyes) and not the pig, yet the second time it's both the pig and chicken, only us and Moana know out right she didn't mean to take either
@@Shadowisdonut
I don’t remember a lot of what happened in Moana, but I’m not sure how the story would be any different if the pig was brought along.
@@SonicPlayer2004 same with the chicken
@@Shadowisdonut
Exactly. So I don’t see the point in this little tangent.
Chicken stowed away and Pua was traumatized from her first attempt
THATS WHAT I’M SAYING
Maui says eggs and bacon, that rooster ain't laying no eggs for ya buddy.😂
Thank you !!!! (Roosters are male and Chickens are female)
@MaKenzieFossett Roosters are male, Hens are female. Chickens are either one or the other.
But he always called him chicken
To be fair she technically didn’t really bring the chicken either, it just stowed away.
As far as I can remember the Pig go with her on her first attempt but got traumatized
And even the ocean was getting fed up with having to save the chickens ass. Probably felt bad about Pua. Only reason Heihei survived
@@yell09999yes that is true
It wasn't a plot hole, he snuck aboard 🤦🤷
Exactly 💯 Cluckbutt was a stowaway... Moana meant to leave alone
DAD JOKE ALERT
And even if she did intend to bring both of them pua was slightly traumatized by one of the failed journeys outside the reef
It’s because Maui thought Moana brought the chicken with her
Trailer inconsistentie then
What are you talking about? The chicken snuck on board, and the pig clearly did not want to go immediately after receiving PTSD.
I didn't even know there was going to be a sequel. I honestly hope it's good that Moana was an inspiration for me back then to go deeper into my heritage.
I’d advise against seeing it, Disney has destroyed every franchise they’ve revisited. Protect your love for the franchise by not seeing this - at least until you hear if it’s good or bad from someone you trust
If someone mentions me about a week or so after it comes out I’ll come back and give my review
@@Catherine.Dorian.while that’s commonly true I must say the Cinderella SEQUELS are honestly pretty funny and I liked them
@@hxnnas_vs I’ll have to actually check those out! The trend still stands enough that I wouldn’t spend money on this until it was proven good
Pua got traumatized from the last time he joined Moana on a boat.
😂
He did scream when he realized he's in the middle of the ocean and faced monsters and deities
I'm too lazy to correct my mistake
True 😂 Poor Pua 😢😂
LOL XD
I really loved how shocked and happy he was to see the pig. "Boat snack upgrade!"
The pig looked so worried though (and rightly so).
Not knowing that it’s her brother
Cringe
I mean, púa does give the same look of confusion and then sadness in the first movie, when Moana makes a statement after fixing a villagers post “that’s some good pork” *cue púa faces*
SpongeBob every episode after season 3 was cringe@@Marvelfanatic3658
I love how he says “eggs and bacon?!”
It's videos/shorts like this, that confirm so many people really have no clue what a plot hole is.
She didn't bring the chicken either, the chicken snuck onto the raft.
The chicken got on the boat by accident without Moana’s knowledge
As you can see, she tried to bring him along, but he was too scared to go because he had PTSD or something from the water
Hey fyi, trauma and PTSD are two VASTLY different things. PTSD is a serious condition. It’s not right to throw it around.
That’s not right tho 💀 hei hei wasn’t supposed to join but he snuck on
@@_.hybrids._1680I agree that you shouldn't throw around PTSD, but the t means Traumatic. PTSD is a much more serious condition than trauma, but they aren't so different
@@_.hybrids._1680post traumatic stress disorder pua has ptsd from the nearly life ending scenario and the fear of himself and his owner/sister drowning painfully
@@_.hybrids._1680 you get ptsd from trama
the real plot hole is that the chicken hasnt died from old age yet. that thing is like 20 years old.
Yehh I always thought that, like he was there when she was a toddler and when she's 16, how is he still going???
The pig is too traumatized because of the earlier crash 😂
The pig probably wasn’t brought due to it already having been frightened by the water, and Moana probably didn’t want that to happen again
Right I really didn't get why it is a plot hole she bring the pig on her first attempt
No lol she didn’t mean to bring either it’s cos hei hei snuck on board
It wasn't Moana, the pig refused to go after the first attempt.
Finally, someone says it. Its like no one else actually watched the movie lol
@@Goldi-but-gato I actually did watched the movie
For me the answer was simple
Moana’s first attempt to leave her island failed and pua was afraid of the sea.
What a coincidence…. A plot hole made by a simple solution….. I LITERALLY FISHED FOR THAT
Lol I did it in just 10 seconds
Also the rooster snuck onto the boat, so she really didn’t bring him
She didn’t actually mean to bring hei hei but he was just lost on the boat and she only noticed after she left
I mean the chicken may be slow but he held down the heart of the island 😂
You can see in the movie itself the reason she didn't bring the pig is because it almost drowned and was terrified of even going near the water, and as dj_kringo said she didn't even want to bring the chicken it snuck it's way on board
Did everyone forget that Pua was terrified of anything that dealt with water after Moana went out for the first time? As for hei Hei Hei snuck on board.
There is a little chibi thing that shows pua keeping hay hay out of trouble so pua sticks hay hay in the boat
If u watch the movie you know that hei hei snuck aboard in a container you know this cause she literally was like “HEI HEI?!”
*PIG WAS SLEEPING*
Omg you're literally every where
Real
Perry The Platypus?!?!
She meant to sail out ALONE the dumb chicken just stowed away
After Moana and Pua went past the reef and wrecked Pua was traumatized basically from it
Pua WAS meant to come along initially, as you can see in old trailers of Moana 1! They eventually took him out, though, because it was better for the plot.
Hayhay got on her raft without her knowing, she only found out later when she was like in the middle of the ocean
2,016 is wild
In the first movie when she first went out to sea to find fish, she had pua on with her. During the crash Pua almost drowned probably causing Moana to decide to not bring her animals. The chicken snuck on board and If you remember Moana was surprised when she went to grab food from under the boat it was too late to leave him bc she was already in the middle of the ocean.💁🏾♀️
I think it's pretty obvious in the first movie why Pua wasn't there. I, too, wouldn't want to on the open ocean after almost drowning the first time.
I wonder what moana two is gonna be about since it really didnt need a sequel
I believe she is going to find other tribes and remap the ocean.
Can't really remember but probably gonna continue the folk tale and find join more tribes and map the oceans
It needed a sequel, Moana was becoming stale
They're going to find the one piece.
@@monomon0645🤣
I don’t think this was a huge question anyone who even watched the movie had. She didn’t intend to bring the chicken, the chicken was just on the boat when she left.
Fun fact: Pu’a is actually Samoan for pig, Samoa is in the South Pacific and is apart of the Moana movie considering Maui is mentioned in some Samoan myth and legends e.g Sina ma Tuna(Sina and the Eel)
Moana originally went beyond the reef with Pua, where their boat got flipped and she put herself and Pua in great danger
So when she left, she didn’t bring Pua because she didn’t want to hurt him. She also didn’t plan to bring Hay Hay, he was a stowaya
I think it's because the pig still having trauma from the first time she tried to set out past the reef
Ngl I didn't know moana 2 exists
Well surprise lol
That because it doesn’t yet the trailer just came out 1 day ago
So I guess we are not getting a live action Moana thank god 😌
@@calebvega2021 oooo 😬😬 sorry but that’s still being made
@Night-RunnerEditz Well thats unfortunate 😕
If you watch closely in the first movie, Moana sets off to the sea because she wants to be on the ocean. Then a big storm hits and they wash up on shore Pua then pops up his head from the sand and sees the paddle and his reaction is running away from the paddle so clearly after what had happened on the ocean scared Pua about going on the ocean. now I’m guessing for the second movie Moana successfully gets Pua back on the ocean and Pua faces his fear of the ocean.
The pig went with her 1st time when she crashed and after that the big did not want anything to do with the sea. The chicken after a while when it saw it was in the sea it also started to screen and then she hid him in the boat.
Am I the only one who remembers that the pig was scared of the water after the first attempt? That’s why
it's also because hei-hei snuck on board, she didn't bring him, he bring himself XD
It’s because the pig was to scared to go and she didn’t know the chicken snuck on the boat when she left
Me not knowing that there is a Moana 2 😂😂😂
first of all, hei hei didn’t join moana, he snuck into the boat.
and secondly, pua went in the water with moana the first time and ever since that crash he got scared of boats.
pua was scared to go to the ocean again moana failed in her first boat, but I think the ending in moana 1 was already nice they don't need a moana 2
Did people forget that she was going *ALONE* to give the heart back to it's original owner and that hayhay was brought along unknowingly not on purpose, meaning she never wanted or thought of bringing them along😑🤦
I thought because in the first Moana film when both of them were on the boat they crashed and stuff and when they got back into the land pua was scared to go back because he ran away from the paddle
The pig fell off the boat in the first movie because it was Moana‘s first time going on a boat and they crashed and the pig was traumatized from going on the boat that he ran away from the boat.
The trailer for me was new when I turned on Disney+ last night also if i remember the first one Pua ran after the first time on the boat when she tried to leave the reef and when they crashed and washed back ashore he saw the little paddle from the boat and was traumatized from ever going on the boat again hence why KFC bucket was the only one who went as clueless as he was in the first one and ngl there wasn’t a need for a sequel the 1st one was good enough
KFC Bucket 😂
Because it was an accident hey hey was on the boat
Well she wasn’t going to bring any animals but hay hay snuck on
1. Hei hei joined without her knowing.
2. In pretty much ANY hero/princess/ adventure movie, the protagonist has to leave anything that makes them feel comfortable behind them to make the movie more entertaining and to give it a better twist at the end.
I thought she didn’t bring pua because he got traumatized and litterally ran away from the boat. Also hei hei just snuck on board she didn’t intend to bring him
Am I the only one who didn’t know when Moana sequel was coming out?
The chicken snuck in the boat
Hay hay wasn't supposed to be there he snuck on the raft buy his self and almost got killed a countless amount of times
2,016 is a crazy way to put the year 😭 😂
Grandma literally said “whatever just happened, blame it on the pig”
She looks so beautiful in this movie 😭💕🎀
She didn’t want to bring either of them, but the chicken was already on board and she didn’t know and left
There's a whole scene in the first movie showing that Pua is now afraid of sailing after crashing the first time
Love it when someone knows what a plot hole is.
Bro has the ai generated media searches
The YTPs of this film are gonna be gold
Honestly that chicken is the most accurate depiction of chickens in media
Pua had a great reason to not and I don’t blame him I’m not getting back on a boat with someone who almost got me killed 😂
"Hei Hei?" Nah, you mean "Boat Snack," and there's no denying it
I always just assumed Pua was traumatised from Moana's first attempt to cross past the reef.
Pua is traumatized from the time she first tried to go beyond the reef. He probably didn't want to go!
Honestly part of it is just because of changes in the story over time, the pig had a larger appearance in the original movie concept but a lot of the original scenes and plots were scrapped. Shes mostly left in for marketing reasons
Uh Hei Hei snuck aboard on accident with Moana's knowledge and Pua was too scared of the water to go
Pua was traumatized from when Moana failed to get over the coral in her first attempt.
This was addressed in the behind-the-scenes features. Moana was originally going to bring Heihei & Pua, but they couldn't justify a reason to bring both. The director told them to scrap Heihei & keep Pua as the animal sidekick/mascot until 1 writer came up with the idea of Heihei eating the stone. The director loved the idea so much they decided to keep Heihei & leave Pua behind.
“ boat snack! Boat snack upgrade why didn’t you bring it last time?”
SHE DIDN'T WANNA BRING ANY ANIMALS, it snuck on boardddd
Because she didn’t ‘bring’ either of them
When I first watched Moana because I didn’t see pua with her I thought Pua died lol
Pua has trauma from crashing in the ocean in the first movie 😂
“ 2,016 “ 😂😂😂
Moana didn't bring Hey Hei, he just brought himself without her knowing. This is actually the only time she Purposefully brings Hey Hei and Pua.
Any person who is actually looking really deeply into Moana knows that the reason Pua didn't join the last adventure it's because he was scared, the first time he went on board he nearly drowned so make sense why he didn't join
Huh? Moana saw it was way too dangerous and that there was a very high likelihood of anybody she brought along not coming back. It established that in her initial voyage.
Additionally, the pig ran away.
She did the ferst time she tried to go she almost drowned and so did Pua from then on she tried to go agin and pua was to scared to go guess he got over it
Pua had PTSD from almost dying at sea with Moana in the first movie, Hei Hei sunck aboard
She didn't wanna bring heihei, he did snuggle in, maybe she didn't want her pets to be in danger
This is the most commonly asked question for the movie? You guys Hei Hei snuck on board. Meaning that Moana didn't intend to bring Hei Hei with her.
either the chicken was not ment to be there or pua was still scared from the first time
She didn’t even want to bring Hei Hei. He snuck on board. Literally shows it in the first 5 minutes of her being on the boat in how she’s surprised when she finds him.
Moana didn’t intend to bring Hei Hei
Pua was too scared to go on the boat again after the first time
Remember when MatPat sneakily proved Pua may be Moana's brother?
I loved pua in the first movie, was so bummed to not see more of him.
Dubb rooster for catching the heart of Tifiti 😁🗣️🔥💯🐓
Pua might've actually been traumatized of the ocean for a while due to that first crash they had, and the chicken joined Moana's adventure without knowing
In the context of the story: the pig was told not to come the chicken was a stole away.
In the context of behind the scenes: the animators were having issues with the pigs model and those had to scrape it from a large part of the film. Which is why the pig was in a lot of the trailers and merchandise
Hei hei just happened to be hiding in the boat
She looks older, and more like her dad now. I like it
So we are just forgetting the scene where she already tried sailing with Pua and they crash, traumatizing Pua 😂
Pua became afraid of the seas after Moana tried to leave the first time on the fishing boat
The pig is terrified of water and the chicken snuck on without realizing 😂
Can’t wait for the sequel.. not for this reason I never really care that only HeyHey came considering he snuck aboard.. but because I LOVED the first one
