Lovely video! Reminded me of the MG ZS EV I rented for a week in Australia. Wonderful family SUV EV, especially for the price. 👍😄 Kids love the sunroof and view from the back seats.
Great video tells it like it is. love the cheeky reaction from the the girls in the back. Time of day is the issue. We used to travel to Cornwall on a regular basis as Grandparents lived there (Pendeen very near Gevor Tin Mine). We never travelled during peak times as it was always a problem. Better to leave really early in the morning, get to your destination, have a look around the area relax in a cafe or bar, have a meal etc, before checking in. On the way back we never left until 6pm because we got home at the same time as if we had left at 2pm but without the hassle. I prefer not to spend hours in a traffic car park on the M4. This little island is very overcrowded and as a result the road system is clogged up when everyone wants to travel at the same time. We have am MG ZS Troph long range. Recently went to Whitby. Charged in York at the newly insalled superchergers on the way there and on the way back there was a Garden Centre adjacunt to the charging bay that had a great cafe and a small shop whichwas ideal as we were self catering. so food and shopping whilst the car charged.
Nice one Kevin! I totally agree, we should definitely leave before sunrise next time! Not used to going in the school holidays. Sounds like your loving the ZS 👍👍
Great video, the delights of the British motorways explained in a few minutes with the added bonus of a short holiday review but the pain of all that traffic was worth it in the end, what a beautiful place to visit.. well done done kids, I didn't hear a single "Are we there yet" either (or was that edited out) and of course well done to the MG too. Ironically if there was no traffic you may have had to stop twice because of the added consumption at 70mph V's the crawling through traffic. And what is it with ladies, long hair and the nest you find in the passenger footwell, yes I spotted your wife do that. Before they could drive and I had to drive my daughters anywhere first thing they do is get in the car move their hair and flick the lose strands on the floor. I vacuumed my daughters car the other day and I could have made a wig for my bald head 🤣🤣🤣. My wife has shorter hair so what she lacks in hair is replaced by crumbs from crackers 🙄
It was definitely worth it Rob! The kids were very good on the drive down no editing required! Yea I think quite probably we would have needed two charges at proper motorway speeds to have a decent amount of range to then do somthing at the destination. Ah with the hair they taunt me!
Just FYI, we drove back from Hamburg last Sunday which was 568 miles and took 10hrs 44mins. So much faster than the roads in the UK. :) (They also have Miniature Wonderland btw)
That tin mine looked good. Will have to look it up when we go next time. Nice to see more chargers at the Eden Project as well. And you family seem quite wonderful especially given the looong trip down there. :)
thanks for the Video doesn't seem to have been your day but looks like the MG is comfortable even on a long drives can't wait till i get mine but was worth the long drive 🙂
We've given up trying to make Devon/Cornwall in one go - we now book the Premier Inn in Bridgwater (other hotels chains are available!) and split the drive over a Thursday evening/Friday morning.... Hope to get my MG4 at the end of the month, so the video has been really useful 👍
Hi enjoyed your vlogg I’ve made the same journey to Cornwall in my Kona electric stopped at Flinton service very impressed with the setup there. I feel your pain your wife looks like she’s lost the will to live. Ps I plugged my car into the caravan using the three pin socket over night free electrical charge whats not to like 👍
This was a great vid thanks. I’ve ordered an MG ZS EV Lr Trophy in March and still waiting for delivery. I found this really interesting as I’ve done many family road trips to Cornwall over the years. Your two girls are great, well behaved and their expressions and comments on camera are brilliant. It was obviously a really tiring journey for you all but there was no “overtired screaming” (unless it was off camera🤭)…. Just one question, barring traffic hold ups, what was your typical cruising speed on the motorway?
Ah thanks Monty, yea it was a long old drive but everyone just about kept the good spirits going. I think it was probably quite low there was a lot of road works and heavy traffic, the return journey was much nicer 😀
Thanks! We mainly had the KERs set on 3. On the way to the first stop we tried eco but went back to normal after it became obvious we had loads of range. Then mostly normal mode and a little sport
Nice video, just keep an eye on your audio. The opening is over modulated. Not sure what mic you are using but I’d suggest turning down the gain if you have the option. :)
Great video, really helpful. I'm thinking of going electric, we got solar panels and I would love to not only power the house, but also a car. I don't know if I should go EV or PHEV. I like the ZS reminds me of Mazda, dunno why, it works for me though as Mazda is my car of choice, I'm on my 4th, anyway, thanks!!
I would say if you can afford an EV with good range there’s really no point in having a phev unless you need a particular shape of car not available as an EV
@@eviain very good point, I'm a strange creature, I was looking at the MG HS PHEV because it has lights in the rear for passengers, I rearly have passengers so why that concerns me I don't know.
Use to live in 709 , not there but, what’s the chances. Ps real world driving , maybe the traffic a bigger problem, loved the bridge , got to that some day
Hah crazy coincidence Nigel! It’s such a fantastic bridge, the park nearby is great and there’s an observatory where you can get great views from a viewing point in the cliff. Saltash is also quite something but in a very brutal way great viewing point with Brunels statue standing there. Your right traffic was the real enemy on this one not the power source!
Yea tell me about it, Fridays in summer holiday! Full regen level 3, the speed is hard to estimate as there were so many slow patches it wasn’t all slow going but way more than I would have liked
Did you use mg pilot on the A and M roads? I haven’t tried it in mine yet as I thought it wouldn’t be as efficient as normal driving as pilot doesn’t use regenerative breaking. Hope you enjoyed the holiday.
Hi thanks! I used the cruse but have the lane assistance disabled I tried it briefly but it’s not my cup of tea. The No regen braking in Cornwall was very noticeable due to the hills which made me stop using it so much.

Hi Lain, good real world road trip! The MG range seemed up to task at reasonable price.
Thanks Terry, amazing car for the money

Mg killing it , saw my first estate , looks good for those who like estates
They absolutely are, if reliability is up to scratch they will be even more popular
Excellent video. Just got my TCLR so looking forward to EV driving.

Yea it’s really nice, highly recommended, they could use some chargers. If visitors are encouraged to use EVs then it’s more cash in their pockets
Specular view! 👍👍😀❤🎶☕

Great video, looks like you had a great holiday, how the journey home wasn't as long.
Thanks Phil it was great to be able to get away, I may have enough content to do a part 2: the voyage home (much nicer!)

“We’re flying next time” 😂😂 Good vlog, shame about the journey.
Ah Cheers dude, it was a proper mission!
A great road test with a beautiful end. Didn't the site have charge points? I regularly stay at one in Dorset which has 21kw pod points
Thanks! 🙏 It didn’t have any in communal areas, but some lodges did have some but they may have been private
Sorry just seen your other video re costs
Very nice video.
Suggestion:
You could add "72 kWh" in the title and get more clicks
That’s a great idea 👍
Great set of videos. Could I ask which drive mode and KERs setting you mainly used please?
Thanks! We mainly had the KERs set on 3. On the way to the first stop we tried eco but went back to normal after it became obvious we had loads of range. Then mostly normal mode and a little sport
Great Vid. Thanks. What was the cost of the charge and was it just your debit card that you used or was it a specific EV charge card?
I’m going to do a video about costs very soon, it was a mixture of debit and apps
Nice video, just keep an eye on your audio. The opening is over modulated. Not sure what mic you are using but I’d suggest turning down the gain if you have the option. :)
Weirdly only did it once uploaded but yes audio is not great on this one Chris

Try a good weather trip for real range numbers.
Nothing wrong with the weather on this trip. We’ll see what it does in the colder months

So bad. It’s ok your ears will grow back 👍👍
