GAU-8 Avenger, an automatic cannon weighing about 1800 kg

The AN/GAU-8 Avenger 30mm gun system was purpose-built to serve as a Close Air Support "Tank Buster" for the U.S. Air Force. The GAU-8 Avenger has a total length of 6 meters, the barrel is 2.3 meters long, equipped with 30×173 mm cannonballs. The total weight, without ammunition, is 281 kg of the gun and a fully loaded ammunition weighs about 1800 kg. This is clearly the largest and most powerful cannon owned by the American military.
