  • Live from the International Space Station, this is a live view of Earth from space. The ISS orbits the planet at an altitude of 260 miles (420 kilometers) and completes one orbit every 90 minutes. During each orbit, the ISS spends half of its time on the dark side of Earth, where you can see lightning storms and the lights of cities and towns.
Occasionally, the ISS may lose signal, but it will automatically reconnect once it enters a new communication range. If the signal is lost, you will see an offline message and an aerial image of the ISS's current location on Earth.
1 second in the video = 24 minutes in real life
This video was created automatically using local scripts and SpaceVideosHD Live cameras. A frame from the camera stream is saved each minute. At the end of the day they are processed into a 1 minute (24fps) time lapse video using ffmpeg. They are then uploaded to dropbox via scripts so that zzBOTS can upload to UA-cam and other glorious places.
