Greetings AC Family/Ant Lovers, thank you so much for watching this week's episode! This video took A LOT of work to shoot and create, so if you could remember to hit the LIKE button, SHARE the video, and SUBSCRIBE (hit the BELL and select ALL) I'd greatly appreciate it, guys! Love you all so much. Thanks you! Ant Love Forever! OK so QUESTION: What should we name the Weaver Ants of Antopia? Really need some good name suggestions! Let's give these native ant guardians a name, guys!
When I was in Viet Nam, I witnessed a swarm of Weaver Ants dragging a tarantula into their nest. The bottom of their nest opened up and closed once the tarantula was safety inside. That was the coolest thing I ever seen.
I remember being on a “deployment” to the Philippines and seeing these weaver ant colonies all throughout the Jungle there. I was captivated by how ants decided to make their colonies in the leaves they placed together and thought it was pretty cool. Until one day during a field op, after an Infil, we were doing a file out of an ORP and one of my buddies rifles got caught in a nest over my head, the ants were all over my head, chest, and arms. It took about a minute to realize they were there because I was wearing a cobra head with jut and leaves. Needless to say, I started screaming in pain and my PSG and TL were freaking out trying to get these ants off me. Our Filipino counterparts were getting a good laugh at the sight. Good times 😂
When I moved to Queensland, I was initially afraid of the green ants getting on me, because being afraid of tiny arthropods is just prudent in Australia. Having moved from bull ant territory, I expected their bites to hurt and thought they'd sting me, and nearly fell out of a tree when I felt them crawling all over my hands and feet, but then they did their worst, retched a bit of formic acid, gripped on tight with their mandibles, and sure it itched a bit, but I realised they could be filed under "no biggie". Still, if you weren't used to the weird warm itch of their acid spit, getting a whole nest dumped on your face would have been an experience.
@@Noceda511 YA BOYS THE EMERALD EMPIRE IS BACK ITS TIME. LETS GOOOOOO Emerald empire: gets realised Also Emerald Empire: gets found "were in the endgame now" The war has begun.
Call them the Firefighters! I think that's a fitting name Or the Emerald Warriors as a nod to your former weaver colony. Or even Homeland Security, it's a good and fitting name so I don't see why not!
UPDATE: we found 2 big fire ant hills, its winter so they have all gone dormant but i believe the ant hills are still active! when i was a kid we had a pretty big backyard and i was pretty intrested in ants so during summer i would watch a black ant colony, weavers and fire ants battle for control of territory throughout the yard. the black ants controlled a quiet corner of the yard and didnt take risks by raiding the other colonies. unlike the black ants, the fire ants and weavers were at war for the rest of the yard. i watched throughout 5 years as several pretty established colonies of both sides battle for the destruction of the enemy and survival. me and my 2 cousins mapped out the yard, naming sections such as a section that hosted several of the most powerful fire ant colonies we named The Scorch Lands, and a tree which was home to 4 different, powerful and massive weaver colonies that was named The Weaving Forest. We named the main frontier The Front and a section which used to host lots of new fire ant colonies that was completely wiped out by the weaver ants The Grave. I watched as the fire ants wiped out the yard behind their colonies as the weaver only existed on one side and the fire ants in the middle. We named the massive section that was wiped of any major life by the fire ants The Skull Field. I slowly watched over years as fire ant colonies fell one by one to weaver invasions and new ones stopped appearing. On one faithful day, the largest fire ant hill, Olympus was invaded and eradicated. This was a turning point and the fire ants fought a desperate downhill battle for survival. I still visit sometimes, and the weavers have all but eradicated the fire ants in the area.
Man this is what I miss about being in a suburb… I would go to the backyard and go on this huge rock shaped like a boat and underneath it an ant colony was thriving. Now I’m in a city, there’s only mosquitoes flies and other boring insects. And instead of being int the backyard, ants just go into your house. City ants are very rude.
I love too see how intelligent they are. Killing their enemies while they are still weak, waiting for prey to die, before bringing it into their nests. That is just awesome
@@AK-jt7kh I agree. I often see insistence that "all these behaviours is a simple instinctive programming" but even if they know each strategy they use by instinct, they can take multiple parameters into account to choose which strategy is suitable for the situation, and improve their decision making with experience, that certainly is a form of intelligence.
I love how at 18:14 there's the two weaver ants latched onto the one fire ant, but the one is just hanging on and letting the other carry it and the fire ant up the tree
When the cockroach the weaver ants were carrying got its legs stuck on the leaf stem, it had the same energy as trying to move a couch out of a doorway
I’ve always found ants to be interesting creatures for their amazing intelligence, but never learned deeply about them until I found you. Thank you for further introducing me to these fabulous creatures
@zhiyar baban ant intelligence is on a different field; it is a hivemind of sorts rather than the individual intelligence that jumping spiders and humans have. Such a phenomenon is called emergence, where a thing of worth more than the sum of its parts.
I was thinking along these lines. I suggested the guardians but vanguard is better. I was trying to think of something more colorful than guardians. Vanguard does the trick.
I think "Emerald Guardian" is a pretty nice name, Emerald because to remember his own weaver ant colony and guardian because they protect antopia from team invasive ants.
I just watched an animated video about these ants and their habits, nets, and lives. And I thought to myself "man I wish I could see actual video" so this was an awesome video! Thanks man! 🐜
It's funny when you got the close up shots of the weaver nests, some of the ants were looking at you like "What are you looking human? Mind your business, nothing to see here."
Australian bull ants have attitude like that. I once blocked one with a shovel. It paused, then went around. Did it again. It went the other way. Third time, it propped up and out-waited me.
@kebab REMOVER No truer words were spoken. Ants have a routine, a schedule and a determination to get the job done, so they can go home, play soccer, then sleep peacefully in the satisfaction of a day well spent.
This is not really fair to the rest of UA-cam, I mean, seriously, can anything top Ant War? I love this content. Thank you for your efforts, and you are greatly appreciated!
The Weaver ants should be called the "Forest Guardians." The idea that gave me this name is the fact that you have a bunch of trees out of your backyard and it's surrounding Antopia, so I like to think the weaver ants as some kind of protecters of Antopia.
A name for the weaver ants: "The Air Nomads!!" They rule the skies like giant bisons flying around, and air nomads with their drones. Plus their nests located all around the yard could also be named after the air temples!

It just seems unoriginal, considering the diversity in The Antiverse, Black panthers(Bornean ants), Fire Nation(Fire ants), Jaw Breakers(Trapjaw), Dark Knights(Black Crazy Ants)
Name for the Weaver Ants: the Guardians (the Forerunners machine constructs who policed the galaxy from Halo). Considering how the Weavers are the top dogs from the Natives would be quite fitting!
I’m so happy there is a dude like u so inspiring and help people understand stuff that they would normally hate and wanna kill. AntsCanada your one of your kind ❤

I think that Athena's Weaver Warriors, Athena's Defenders, or The Weavers of Athena would be good. Athena is the greek goddess of weaving and defensive wars so it would be really fitting for them to have a name related to her.
Yes! Everyone constantly names things colour+noun and it’s always so boring! Thank you for suggesting a good name but I guarantee nobody will pick it because it seems like almost everyone who watches this channel has terrible taste in names.
Those are just the majors, the minors are only slightly larger than fire ants, and the super minors are even smaller, but they grab onto enemies’ antennae and legs and rip them off, truly brutal, and they spray acid
I want to suggest a Name for the ants: The Kingdom of Lothlorien. A homage to JRR Tolkien, as the elven people of Lothlorien lived in the trees they loved and respected. Like the Weaver ants.
At the beginning of the video, there was too much repetition and intro for my taste, but then, you finally delivered some content, thank you. BTW you sound like you drink an caffeine shot before every speech snippet, soo much energy. xD

Red ants: bad
Like if this is relatable

This is the only WW3 we want to see
Yep
indeed!
Fire ants be like: "They're In the Trees!!!"
The ve ant cong war
"were doomed"
“He Lives in the trees he’s friends with the bees”
Flamethrowers be gangsta until the trees start talking
flashbacks lol
Very well narrated... You definitely made that entertaining to watch. Good Job👍🏿
Possible names: "The Leafen Guard" or "The Emerald Defenders"
The Leafen Guard
There's already an Emerald Empire
@@aceofspades58 The Emerald Empire was the former Leaf ant colony that was released. That is why I suggested Emerald Defenders as homage to the great Emerald Empire
You stole the emerald defenders
@@calicocat8255 I know but it just seems off because it'd just be weird for there to be 2 Golden Empires and then Emerald Empire and then Emerald Defenders.
Who else wants an ant colony because of this channel?
👇
I want Weaver ant and what ever that titan ant name
Just bought my first colony of formica fusca 👍🏻
Me
@@kaixlotl_7296 cool!
Well, around my house, sometimes I could met bullet ants and weaver ants (sometimes, they're annoying)
I’m so happy there is a dude like u so inspiring and help people understand stuff that they would normally hate and wanna kill. AntsCanada your one of your kind ❤

The hidden leav village u wacth naruto dont u
I think that Athena's Weaver Warriors, Athena's Defenders, or The Weavers of Athena would be good. Athena is the greek goddess of weaving and defensive wars so it would be really fitting for them to have a name related to her.
Good idea
Yes! Everyone constantly names things colour+noun and it’s always so boring! Thank you for suggesting a good name but I guarantee nobody will pick it because it seems like almost everyone who watches this channel has terrible taste in names.
@@thepip3599 ouch-
@@WindiestRat3 Everyone except you, I’m sure.
@@thepip3599 yea, me too ;-;
One advantage of weaver ants:
-Their size
Those are just the majors, the minors are only slightly larger than fire ants, and the super minors are even smaller, but they grab onto enemies’ antennae and legs and rip them off, truly brutal, and they spray acid
And numbers
They can match the fire ants' numbers, and their size is also much larger.
A fire ant force would definitely lose
This guy created the ant version of middle earth. Cool.
I want to suggest a Name for the ants: The Kingdom of Lothlorien. A homage to JRR Tolkien, as the elven people of Lothlorien lived in the trees they loved and respected. Like the Weaver ants.
Nice bro that's a really good name
They were also protectors, and excellent fighters
Nice pfp, I didn't know Appachai liked to watch ants
@lo_Lucas or du guldar because they attack lothlorien three times and every time lost
Nerd
Fire ant’s bite hurts more than my father’s belt.
Hmmm

yo dad weak as flip
I think he meant vice-versa

I like "The Overseers", but it would be hilarious to call them "The Fire Extinguishers".
Fire extinguishers is the best choice
At the beginning of the video, there was too much repetition and intro for my taste, but then, you finally delivered some content, thank you.
BTW you sound like you drink an caffeine shot before every speech snippet, soo much energy. xD
Everybody gangsta till the ants build trenches
WW1 flashbacks

Formic acid attacks to attempt to break the stalemate

The weaver ant colony should called 'Fire fighters'.
Take my like, i really hope this one gets picked.
I think the weaver ant colony should be called “the green guard”.
I like dah
Nezu not bad
The weaver ants could be called “the forest kingdom” or “the evergreen empire”
Canopy Dwellers
@@BeatTek85 that ones good to
Yep
Evergreen empire is a really good one
Canopy dwellers is a good idea
No one does not care about his camera it’s so good that it can see the faces really zoomed in
how about "guardians of the grove" or "golden fire fighters" since they are the guardians that defend antopia from the fire ants
Both are nice
I like Guardians of the Grove
gardians of the grove is good!
“Golden fire fighters” is just really rubbing it in and I love it
Guardians of the grove is a good name for them
The hanging baskets kind of give me an “Air Nation.” Vibe. That’s my suggestion the Air nation!
Invasive ants gangsta till the trees start speaking native
Thanks to this,I remember a War happening in our yard, against Fire ants and Weaver ants.
What about the “weaving savages” or “the weaving defenders” or even “the fire hunters” for a name
Weaving sausages
or fire fighters
Both is good. 😄
This was a fantastic production. Had me from beginning to end. Very well done.
They should be called "The Huns" cause they are RIPPING their prey apart, dude
yes yes yes THE HUNS
It's all fun and games until a Mulan queen alate kills their queen
The way the weaver ants were looking at the camera , like they were so on point and so smart. They are amazing. 🐜
