      chrismc410 Exactly. I mean I know why Abrams threw the mess that was Star Trek canon out the window, since Star Trek canon is a disaster area, but we need something that moves the prime universe forward very badly There's a lot of people for whom Newtrek just feels like a massive digression/red herring because they were invested in the prime universe.

      chrismc410 I was hoping to see more of the origins of the prime universe! more on the eugenics wars and world war III and the "Enterprise" era! its not being able to fill in the gaps of the prime universe history that I find disappointing! They didn't have much time to explore the founding of the Federation or the maiden voyages of various classic starfleet ships! they Encountered a Constitution class vessel in Enterprise and it was 100% authentic! its hard to let go of the prime universe! it feels like the events and milestones meant nothing.

      hagamapama With that you need to do :
      1) A complete revamped : a complete reset from the beginning No connection Universe crap like having Leonard Nimory as old Spock. Let it go
      2) Consistency is paramount
      3) a great story line and great story telling
      4) have science that make sense otherwise you will make it into star wars
      5) Make it human
      6) Make something to connect to Earth so that views can relate to. ie have character that or Muslim , Jew or whatever. Once a while visit earth
      7) introduce new concept - like TNG or TOS mirror universe
      8) Look at in on another prospective IE from a Romulan
      9) don't make the federation ALWAYS the good guys. See DS9 thats why that show works. Its more realistic
      10) A great Character development and interaction that makes sense instead of JJ version
      11) Make Federation a military exploration organisation. Not that JJ version which is a real mess
      12) Not copy other show. Ie like DS9 taken from Babylon 5 or when Star Wars did the prequels Paramount decided to do Enterprise against the fans wishes to continue after Nemesis.
      13) Have a action that makes sense to have, not just for the sake of it.
      14) MAke it realism like what BSG and babylon 5 did. Talking about Adult issue, stop making trek that is dedicated for young children. Do what the new BGS did
      15) Take Gravity the film that starred Sandra Bullock, as what Star trek could have been

    The contradiction in Trek is that if these alternate timelines can be scrutinized, it means that they exist, which also means that you never really "change" past, present or future, you simply jump from one timeline to another. For example, the original TV/movies timeline is still out there. Original Spock (and the Narada) simply moved sideways as well as backwards in time and ended up in a parallel universe. To people in the original universe, they simply vanished when they fell into the black hole. But the whole universe's past didn't change. OS just switched tracks so to speak. However, this means you aren't really "saving" anybody's hide but your own when you change the past. The sucky timeline(s) will still be out there.

    • @DieHardjagged
      @DieHardjagged 9 років тому +7

      Reminds me of that TNG Episode where Worf was traveling through many alternate Timelines and at the End you would even see, that there are at least 200k+ Alternate Timelines.. i found the Episode kinda fascinating..

    • @daniels7907
      @daniels7907 9 років тому +3

      DieHardjagged
      Exactly. Except that there were a lot of other episodes where changing or protecting the past was supposedly very important. Yoyager's whole finale was about that for example. But if these parallel universes are real, then Admiral Janeway didn't really save *her* Voyager (and Tuvok from his neurological illness), she merely shifted *herself* over into another timeline. To people in her original timeline, she simply flew off into a temporal rift and was never seen again. But *they* would have still remained exactly as they were.

    • @danielshottopics8187
      @danielshottopics8187 9 років тому +2

      ***** Exactly when you go back in time you do not change the universe and erase the Future and create another Future you just create something totally new and totally different people make the Argument that when Nero went back in time he erased the prime universe and created the JJ Abrams universe we see in the movies and the only way we can get back to the prime universe is to restore it by preventing Nero from getting there in the first place, but these people a mistaken they are thinking of something called the Grandfather Paradox theory where you go back it time change something then in order to get back to your reality you have to restore it like when Marty Mcfly had to get the Allmanac from Biff to restore things to the way they were in Back to the Future 2 but as I said that is the Grandfather Paradox theory, the new movies are using Quantum mechanics where you go back in time and you just create something new but the timeline you left still and always will exist Remember the Episode Parallels in Star Trek TNG season 7 when Worf was Shifting to other realities Well he got to a Enterprise and it was the most Advanced one we see and that Data Explains Quantum mechanics how every second the universe Fractures into other Alternate realities every second so with that in mind we go back to Nero when he went back in time from 2387 to 2233 that point where Nero Entered fractured off and became the JJ Abrams universe so Nero did not alter Events or erased timelines he just created something completely new and completely different so the Prime universe still exists.

    • @daniels7907
      @daniels7907 9 років тому +4

      Daniel Bertazzon
      Actually, based on some of the evidence, the JJ timeline *already* existed when Nero was shifted into it, placing the point of divergence somewhere even further back in history (some claim during the Enterprise series, others during the film First Contact). This is based on the radically-different technology of the U.S.S. Kelvin, which bore no resemblance to other Starfleet tech we had seen in the original timeline. Since the Kelvin already existed when the Narada appeared in their timeline, that cannot be the point of divergence.
      Also, it seems likely that if Jim Kirk had been born on a starship (he's supposedly from Iowa), that point would have been mentioned before now, as it would have been a major character point in explaining why he is such an avid space explorer ("I was *born* on a starship!").
      In the original timeline, Starfleet did not go "family-friendly" until the late-24th Century, long after Kirk's time. Even if his mother were a Starfleet officer, she would have probably been placed on maternity leave. After all, space travel entails plenty of hazards (e.g. radiation) that could permanently damage a fetus, and original Starfleet would likewise not adopt corrective DNA resequencing until the late-24th Century as well.
      So between the different technology and the different Starfleet policy, it would appear that the JJ timeline had already diverged even before Nero arrived there. The Narada and the Jellyfish merely got pulled sideways in time, and backward (by different distances) and landed in this other timeline, not unlike Worf hopping between timelines and finding them each having slightly different histories.

    • @danielshottopics8187
      @danielshottopics8187 9 років тому +2

      Indeed, I have also heard that the JJ vese diverged even before Nero got there because every point does diverse all the time cause as you said the Tech on the Kelvin was advanced too Advanced for that time period they had laser Turrets for example and also had Aliens we never saw before like that Alien Doctor or Nurse with Huge Eyes or that other Alien Dude on the Bridge with the Big Brown head so it was Different even before Nero got there. Enterprise for Example Enterprise was awesome I really liked the third season the Xindi War Arc that is what pulled me into Enterprise it Started with the Xindi prototype weapon attacking Earth Killing millions of people including Trip Tuckers Sister that made it emotional then they destroyed Duras a Klingon that was after Enterprise since season 1 and it ended with Enterprise chasing the Xindi super weapon back to earth and destroying it that was great a series packed with Action from beginning to End but Enterprise was not mentioned in TOTNG DS9 or VOY or all the movies so I think when The Enterprise E went back in time and Stopped the Borg the timeline fractured off into the Enterprise timeline even the creators said the Enterprise timeline was created from the Enterprise E going back in time and stopping the Borg.

    I just want it to be set in the usual time-line, not any of the alternate time-lines. (For the most part at least)
    What happens to the Dominion, does Odo rule them? Are the Borg defeated or do they attack again? Those fluidic space species that attack the Borg - are they powerful enough to win? Funny thing is that the BBC was actually talking to the folks at Star Trek: Enterprise a possible crossover ep. It all took place during that time that Doctor Who was shooting it's first season and Ent was shooting season four. Not sure exactly how far along these talks were, but there was some level of communication between the production companies, of course, once Ent got canceled, there was nothing left to talk about. :: shrugs ::

    It feels so weird to see such an important battle in Star Trek without epic music and a huge fight between fleets. You only see a few ships go by. Also, they've developed the Enterprise J and they're still using the Prometheus class?

    • @NightingaleSunset
      @NightingaleSunset 10 років тому +5

      The Enterprise E battled with much older ships, as well as the Dominion War using Kirk era ships. Starfleet is not a military power, in times of peace, one much be aware that most of its reserves are much older ships of the line. While the twenty-sixth century is a bit far-fetched, I agree... against a enemy such as the sphere builders, you would think that they would need every thing they had.

    • @dixievfd55
      @dixievfd55 10 років тому +4

      Given how long the Miranda and Oberth classes were in service, seeing a Prometheus class in the 26th Century would not be so strange considering those ships did not go into service until after the Dominion War.

      dixievfd55 Plus, an older ship chasis can be retrofitted with newer technology. A very high-tech ship can still reside within the hull of an older design. A good example is the Excelsior-class ship that engages the Defiant in DS9. The hull design is a century old at that point, but the upgrades it received made it a match for one of Starfleet's most advanced warships.

    Enterprise had such potential. Very little of the cutesy comic-relief of TNG, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. The dark storylines were intended to start with DS:9, but VOY was the one that got the coolest dark storylines. The problems with Enterprise: they (A) kept on violating the actual established timeline of TOS (a trend started in the movie "First Contact"), and (B) kept on turning T'Pol into an alien sex object rather than a real character.

      +Movies For Newbies I think it depends upon how one should view the Star Trek franchise. Is it the spirit of James Bond? There, you have very different actors portraying the same role very differently from Bond himself to Miss Moneypenny and the American CIA agent Felix Leiter. First we see Bond as a veteran agent. Then we seem him re-imagined as one of the newer and promising agents. Continuity is largely shot to hell as he fights an unfamiliar and newly emerging opponent who many movies earlier he already fought and defeated. If that is the new spirit of Star Trek, then my objections should be discarded. That is what has happened in Star Trek. Now Spock and Uhura are an item. Really? Do we forget the Vulcan background of a mating ritual every seven years? That was not a trivial matter. I always thought that a sharp contrast between Spock and Kirk was the first person was largely celibate while the second was a womanizer.;Has that difference been erased? What about the backstory of Kirk rising through the ranks and emotionally scarred by the death of one of his first commanding officers? Now he just graduates from the Academy and becomes Captain of the flag ship of the Federation. First we saw Vulcan as a philosophical giant in the Federation playing a pivotal role in interstellar diplomacy. Now Vulcan has been destroyed and its survivors are described as members of a race in danger of extinction and the future of their influence has been, at best, curtailed. If one does not care about continuity, then the newest incarnation of the franchise should be judged solely on its own merits. But for someone like me, someone old enough to have watched the original series ;from its very first episode, it is as though an old friend is suffering from amnesia and has become a very different person.

    The design was based on a loose concept of being like the Galaxy Class, but instead of a town in space, it's a city in space, so it's more of the same just larger. It was also never meant to be looked at very closely, so the skin is low res. Lastly, the producers naturally wanted the ship to have the same hull for as the NX-01, for no good reason. The one thing I really like about it is how weak the connection from the pylons to warp engines appear; it implies better material knowledge.

    • @robertb7230
      @robertb7230 10 років тому +2

      +Major Diarriah
      Yes, it supposedly had parks and everything on it that you'd find in a larger city. It was supposed to be a "multi-generational" vessel, where children could be born and live their whole lives on, rather than a tour of duty X years long until their parents got assigned somewhere else.(In fact, we don't get a good "scope" of it's size here, but even ONE nacel was far larger than the whole of the Enterprise D).
      The designer said that the J was supposed to represent the last of the "3D" exploration of the universe. In this time period, rather than exploring the Galaxy, Starfleet was now able to jump to other galaxies and so was exploring the universe. So ships were supposed to be self contained "worlds", like moving colonies of the federation.
      A century after "J" was supposed to be the start of "4d" exploration; where instead of exploring the universe, they now began exploring time itself. Was some cool concepts, but anytime you bring time travel in, things get complicated really fast--still I liked that the J was the last "great" starship, because after that, due to the nature of time travel, they didn't need them that large (No need to bring families if you're not technically leaving your point in space--or even if you do, you can explore for 50 years and be back one second later.)

      Yes.
      The Khitomer Accords consisted of two historic peace treaties between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets and were the first step in reconciliation between the two powers. The accords were signed at the Khitomer Conference in 2293 on the Klingon planet Khitomer.
      The explosion of the Klingon moon Praxis in 2293 caused severe ecological disasters on the Klingon Homeworld and an almost complete shutdown of the Klingon economy. Following these events, the Klingon chancellor Gorkon initiated peace talks with the Federation in which Captain Spock served as a special envoy to the Empire. The peace conference was first scheduled to be held on Earth, but was later relocated due to Chancellor Gorkon's assassination on his way to Earth. The new venue was Camp Khitomer, on the Klingon planet Khitomer, which was kept secret in order to prevent further assaults. Despite further actions by a Klingon/Federation/Romulan conspiracy, the Khitomer conference was a success and a turning point in Klingon-Federation relations. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)
      Curzon Dax represented the Federation in the negotiations, at which the Romulan Senator Pardek was also present. (DS9: "You Are Cordially Invited"; TNG: "Unification I")
      As part of the agreement, the Empire relinquished its historical claims to the Archanis sector, which is located in Federation territory on the Klingon border. (DS9: "Broken Link")
      In 2344, the Battle of Narendra III had a decisive influence on interstellar history. As the Klingons were betrayed by the Romulan Star Empire and witnessed the courage of the Enterprise-C, this event had the effect of finally ending Romulan-Klingon relations and solidifying Federation-Klingon relations. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise")

    That picture of a starship was not the Enterprise J. Doesn't make sense. They usually crank out a new ship every 10-20 years, C,D, E, etc. how can 400 years come about and they are only up to J? Doesn't make sense. You mean to tell me Enterprise F lasted 350 plus years before being retired?

      Well Enterprise D served until 2371 (its destruction) after that we get the Enterprise E. F, G, H, I,....J, makes 5 Ships. Assuming all known times are correct the NX01 served until 2151 means this is around 2550. we got the Enterprise E roughly 180 Years before these events so 5 new versions in that timespan seem ok to me.

    You know, Im getting pretty sick of the people trying to retcon the series, especially the reboots. Enterprise had plenty of good episodes. Most of Voyager was excellent. The two newest Star Trek films were critically and economically the best over all of the other films COMBINED.
    Look, I know the original and next generation series are favorites. I personally love TNG since I grew up with it, but calling something bad when numbers and so many other people say youre wrong is only gonna get you flak.

      Numbers don't mean shit, the masses run to the theater to see any special effects and big booms, they are like Fry saying "shut up and take my money". Movies are not held to the same standard that they once were. J.J Trek is a Star Wars movie made in the Trek Universe plain and simple.

    Terribly poor design, 400 years from the NX doesn't make it look very good... sorry but whoever designed it, wasn't thinking... it looked like a quick PS mesh, no evolution went into it. It's not like Enterprise NCC 1701 to the E for instance, there you can see a massive change, new tech and design. I think it was a crying shame to even develop this show after the legends of Trek TV. I think it was a terrible idea to create a Trek show that takes place BEFORE KIRK. I mean really? The entire SULIBAN (TALIBAN) thing was just so weak and so obvious. I hated it. I think with the rich eco system and history of Star Trek, the best option would have had to have been a show taking place in the future or after Voyager. I mean we've established so much between TNG, DS9 and VOY that to go forward would have given us so much more to dig into, new worlds, new characters, new fantastic adventures... but no... the writers chucked out, they didn't have it in them, they wanted to play it safe and so they went against exploring new frontiers and so on by creating something that would tamper with the sacred canon... this was my problem. Oh and the crew was pretty weak, the worst Captain, the crew didn't fit, they didn't work well together and the ship was ugly. A series on the building of the Federation on Earth would have been more interesting... but no... they really didn't make Vulcans likeable, they in fact ruined it in many ways and personally I think they messed up more things than expected in the short 4 years they were on the air. But this is my opinion, I love TREK but I skipped Enterprise, because I think it was an insult. They didn't even include Star Trek in the first season, why? It's Star Trek! Also, and finally, my favourite Trek is the Kirk movies, because I grew up with it, then including TNG, but matured in DS9. I think DS9 had the best writing and most daring episodes, I loved DS9. Voyager was pretty much USS Christianity... Find trouble and convince them all they are "doing it wrong". The human racist aspect was a bit too much, everyone had to have human standards, morals and so on. Oh and Janeway needed to get laid or something.. she practically ordered the entire ship into danger as often as possible.. Started off ok though but then... it was Nebula this Anomaly that... repetitively... just my opinion and it's not the absolute truth but it's just how I feel...

    Federation taking over Klingons and Romulans ? Nice. :) Never thought the word federation was a hidden word for nazi. Hard to believe that Klingons would just join the federation, ruled over and help it expand whilst they have to wear Earth uniform to be part of a military. No, Klingons are not culturely retarded, Klingons are a proud race and very proud of their warrior instinct and heritage .If you think that Klingons will have to surrender their way of life like we saw Rio talking off her earing because Picard order to do so then you have no idea what trek is. More absurdity from Star Trek simply because the writers were tooooooooo damn lazy to do a proper job and even work hard, and certain fans are gullible to accept any rubbish.that Paramount craps at them -THINK
    Of course not every the Klingons join the Federation doesn't mean every Klingon wears a star fleet uniform.. It doesn't mean by joining that tghey will be ruled under by the fed . If the Klingons join then it will be unified one where both parties are disolved and form a unified alpah qudaunt society not that rubbish Federation that feeds on NAzium
    The idea that the federation are ALWAYS the good guys (with exception of DS9 which help trek btw) only promotes racism.

    • @whitemanstand72
      @whitemanstand72 9 років тому +3

      Yep different culture forced to be ruled under by the federation promoting freedom and respect and have . Love your stupidity. Never thought killing civilians and promoting racism is the democracy way - A show that says how "we got Uhra, , Sulu, and one more non white person on the show - we can't be racist" and shows other race as backward , violent, untrustworthy, thuggish, greedy. ( Romulan, Ferengi, Cardassian, KLingon etc etc ) Showing the feds a white mans club with a few scattered of non-whites just please the people oh we not racist . THen Star Fleet in san francisco ? when other nation have reach space Russia, India Japan, Pakistan, China , Europe etc etc... a country like the US that has promoted more mass murderers than all the country combined from ww1 and 2, STar fleet is based there , to promote peace and respect ethnicity and religion. Really ? T . Sure no country is free from faults but the US is founded by enslaving of Africans and exterminating native Americans, yet Star fleet is in US soil to show the Universe thats what we represent a voient enslaving nation ? Really ? .A organisation that respects other ALien race Culture, religion and creed from other worlds but can't even mention of Christians, Jews Hindus, Sikh ( oh yes Khan Noor Singh - a dictator that killed q quater of Earth population) or even Muslims alike
      I found this glaring stupidty done by writers and it is repeated more obviously by JJ and co.

    • @whitemanstand72
      @whitemanstand72 9 років тому +3

      . Its people like you who go and put the head in the sand. Avoid the problem at hand. Believing in such bullshit as Federation doesn't conquer a planet, then comes the Klingons who are proud race get run by some from eartrh ?
      And then India and China why the hell do they need someone from the US tell them what to do , why can't they have Star Fleet in New Delih
      Why is it central in San Fransico US I understand the TOS but TNG should have been in another country like Uganda if star trek wants to be seen as a show that shows humanity to respect people ethics and religion.
      Quote:
      "Each species (Romulan, Ferengi, Cardassian, KLingon) are extreme metaphors for some piece of humanity. The Klingons represent humanities violent tendencies, the Ferengi represent greed caused by capitalism, the Romulans and Cardassians represent imperialist greed".
      Avoiding the issue to make Star trek a clean show. Still promotes racism.

      Captain James T. Kirk
      Also when I said that why STar Fleet is based in San francisco It was rhetorical question to make you think why Parmount and the writers couldn't be bothered putting Star Fleet on netual or even on a place that represent earth better.

    • @whitemanstand72
      @whitemanstand72 9 років тому +2

      Captain James T. Kirk this is the Internet, so you're helping to keep it working as intended! Roddenberry was not a socialist, nor does the Federation depict socialism. The primary purposes of the Federation were 1-Military Coalition against non Federation Powers, 2-Trade & Commerce, 3-Science & Technology Exchange, 4-Cultural Exchange. In fact the original introduction stated that the Enterprise's mission was related to interstellar commerce, not exploration. The Federation was his United States analog. The Romulans were the Chinese. Klingons were the Soviets. They created a cold war triangle that could be used to create cold war stories that mimicked the real world.
      Kirk's depiction is not as some kind of socialist either. James Kirk was modeled on Horatio Hornblower, a fictional Napoleonic Wars era Royal Navy Officer. Kirk was known for his military prowess above all else.
      In addition, the starships were depicted as having enough power to destroy planets, at least the Constitution class and above. Roddenberry wasn't anti-military, he was anti-war, like most of us. He was a talk softly and carry a crap load of photo torpedoes kind of guy.

    The Federation doesn't truly mothball ships, they keep a reserve of capable ships in classes that aren't politically friendly, and have shipyards in reserve for emergency. The first time such extreme measures as mass battleship production and dreadnought fielding happened is during the Dominion Wars and the brief Borg Encounters saw the few warships kept active as flagships fielded, and mostly destroyed.

    true, in modern-day militaries, ships/planes are in service for 40 years minimum, the B52 for example has been around over 60 years now with constant re-fitting and upgrades. we have also seen that the Federation doesnt really do battleships on a mass production scale either, so maybe the Prometheus's were maintained and updated just in case of war. We have seen the Federation dig into their moth-balled fleets in times of emergency, and it would make sense to bring out the battleships right?
