Just got The Stormtrooper version for $750 New from Spain and very impressed. The lume dial is fantastic and love the True GMT movement. I put an Erika MN black with a white stripe strap and looks sharp. The quality is exceptional.
The Seiko movement is a 6R54, and it is also available with a glacier blue dial. Love the Seiko and i do own the 383 black dial version. The finishing on the case is incredible!
I have the Seiko and rated it highly, superb watch ...I think maybe maybe my favourite Seiko ... but I am really keen to pick up the Bulova after this comparison, I wasn't expecting it to stack up quite so well. That full lume dial is lovely, and love the black and white contrast. Nice video cheers.
I have purchased the Stormtrooper (Black & White) Bulova Oceanographer GMT like the one you reviewed, and it is outstanding, and I like it as well or better than my Seiko GMT. The Bulova keeps great time and wears very well and feels more robust and I prefer it for my actual swimming or diving.
I collect Seiko divers, my favorite watch being the Uemara edition of the 6105 re-issue, but, in this case, I opted for the Bulova just as the one shown here. Only paid $718 (not counting tax) though. Shop around, or wait a few months.
Bulova for me, its got a better movement yet its cheaper and imo it looks better/different. Too many people wear sieko so id go for something different every time.
Great review im a collector own both Seiko & Bulova watches in this instance the Bulova is outstanding the lume on the dial is a winner for me cheers from the UK.
Just ordered the Bulova. I am a fan of the brand despite "Watch Snobs" hate on the brand. Can't wait to get it. Great review. Absolutely love your content. thanks
Caller GMTs are much easier if you have a date complication because it comes with a quickset date. The downside (i think) of the traveller gmt is if you ever let your watch stop running for a period of time, it is annoyingly time consuming to set that date since you have to run that hour hand through midnight for each and every day you need to change.
I find it quite entertaining the moaning of people when they have to set date/time on their automatic or manual wind watches. I own both type of GMTs and never found it an issue to set it. It makes no difference of setting it on either and takes the same amount of time.
@@GoalSquad666 setting a traveller gmt 15 days forward or back takes longer than setting a caller gmt the same amount of days. It's tedious but didn't stop me from buying one 😄
@@ryangochuico It takes no time at all, you just spin the hour hand. There Quartz Chronos out their, you need a degree in engineering to set the calendar...
I like Seikos, but every time I look for one, I decide for different brands, especially because I shop just used. I looked for a Quartz Chronograph last year, and instead of Citizen or Seiko I got myself a Tag Heuer. I looked for an automatic GMT watch just recently, and bought the Bulova, in Pepsi. The only thing I don't like on it, it's way to shiny, however I prefer it over the one in this video and I'm not a fan of the rootbeer model. My Seamaster 300 has a blue dial, and so does the Bulova - I like to wear them on the blue Nato strap I bought for the Omega. The bracelet on the Bulova feels nice when wearing it, however it feels kinda cheap to the touch and is a bit rattily.
Seiko is over...two years ago started to raise up prices and offer lower QC.. I used to have many ,many seiko.. But i actually purchased this bulova full lume (new is priced 670 euro) and it is an amazing watch. So bulova 1 , Seiko 0
I recently purchased the Bulova with the full lume dial it is a very nice watch and in my opinion it is a superior offering to the Seiko GMT. The greater functionality of the independent hour hand on the Bulova makes it a better value.
The Bulova is great but has Quality Control problems. I have just received two, one for me and one for my wife. One is perfect and so nice. The other one (mine obviously ) has such a way off bezel alignment that it's worse than a low end Seiko. I'm in the process of returning the wonky one in exchange for a good one hopefully. No big deal but all website images show a white seconds hand but it's gun metal on the real watch.
In Europe there is a green version also, gun metal case and bracelet. And the difference here is more than 700 eur cheaper tahn Seiko. Seiko is not a true GMT. So.... for me Bulova is the best choice. 1500 eur for a non true GMT from Seiko is too much
A better comparison for the Bulova would be the Mido GMT, also a traveller/true GMT. It has much better styling (IMO), a better movement in the ETA Powermatic 80, 80 hour power reserve, and a similar cost.
Is the date on the Bulova misaligned at times or is it the magnifier making it look that way? Either way imo it’s worth a comment or something as it can make bulova look defective. Love your vids dude!
9:10 Sorry but I have to disagree with you regarding this Seiko's lume. It's not that bright and certainly not as long lasting as the other Prospex divers. Considering how much Seiko is asking for this, the lume is below par
@ulrichgayer8228 Plus, it's a travel GMT, compared to the caller GMT of the seiko. The bulova also most probably has better QC, so the higher price on the bulova is justified
@@mikhaildeanogumedov4778 bulova are punching well above there weight with this. The Wilton is about £400. Why the price hike to around £900??? The seiko will be better finished and is ISO 6425. The bulova is not. I agree however, the miyota is likely the better movement, but time will tell?

I'm getting the Rootbeer version of the Bulova, I think it's the best out of all of them
Both of these are some of the best watches out this year imo. I’d probably get the Bulova.

I hate actually seeing the slower sweep of the 4R/6R at this price point.

Seiko all day, that modern yet vintage look is really nice.
I picked up the spb383 the black dial version. It's a pretty nice watch.
Seiko for me. I wonder if you can source the bracelet that fits the Bulova?
For the sake of similarity between two very different watches you should have picked the green colorway of the Bulova (ref. 98B415) on a bracelet.
Chris, if you come across an aftermarket bracelet for the new seiko, please let us know. Thanks
Which one is better watch for you, Chris? The Bulova Oceanographer GMT or the Traska Venturer GMT? Thank you
