Saw him play at the end of his career at Stockport. The player you don't see now. Legs gone, but still knows enough to get a last wage packet. Could cross a ball to the end though.

Absolute legend,, you might be able to answer a question did he refuse to play against Arsenal when he joined leicester when they play Arsenal ?might be an urban legand, this is from a lifelong Arsenal fan, since the early 70s

I remember Alan Ball’s goal, I always thought it was 12 seconds! I used to listen to Sports Watch, hosted by Dominic Allen on LBC, Saturday afternoons! Fond memories of that era 🥰

not to mention you were newly promoted and all so it was a novelty game for you. bit like chelsea bragging about their 16,000 in '84 when they had thousands of day trippers out like a cup final. real support is reflected after years of the same standard of football

    • @peteboyle7893

This is poorly thought out reply. We took over Upton Park in 1967 & old heads at West Ham have hated us ever since. You maybe able to pin point a poor turnout by our high standards here and there but nobody took numbers all over the country like United in the seventies and eighties.

Behave. Best following you had at Highbury was the FA Cup game in 88, 12,000.
Using your calculating skills, that would equate to 6725

Sure that’s all we had in 88 ? We had all the clock end apart from a few Arsenal in the corner near the main stand. We had all the lower tier on the avenell road from the clock to the north bank. Arsenal rarely even filled the scoreboard lower at old Trafford. Chelsea & spurs usually brought more

MU were poor even in promotion. That side wouldn't have got out of the Championship today. The name frightened the lower leaguer boys not their actual players. Coppell was the only all-timer they had back then. They signed all the 34/36 inch waist band footballers Arsenal didn't want.
