Caught the tour in Glasgow the evening before your Manchester gig. Absolutely incredible night. James Dorton was an absolute beast of a 'stand in' and kudos to drummer Kevin Paradis, who also only joined very recently. A very special band!
I had to scroll back to see quite how long that epic ending was. 3 minutes of the same 7/8 time riff and i was just transfixed, absolutely love stuff like that. Gutted I couldn't make it to any of the UK dates
James was the absolute best sub for Xen. Really, a stunning show.
Gonna be seeing them this Thursday in Prague. Very excited, been a massive fan of theirs for about 3 years now and obviously never got to see them live in that time. Also a bit terrified cause holy hell, the show from door opening to the end of NeO's set is four and a half hours long. Not sure my back is gonna survive that.
Preemptive ibuprofen
Very apt describing a Ne Obliviscaris gig as a religious experience, I feel the same way. I've seen them three times here in Australia and each time, it was a transcendental experience. And on that point, our venues here in Adelaide, I'm pleased to say, are super efficient with times and schedules. I never get paper tickets any more but an 'e - ticket' sent to my phone with a QR code and all the details, including start time. Great to hear that you and Paz had a good time.
Persefone is another amazing band on the progresive side, I'm glad that they tour togheter. Also, I recommend Be'lakor, anothet Austalian band. These 3 bands remember me of old Opeth. The sound is very different, but for me they are much alike in their capacity to produce epic meaningful music that is simultaneously violent and soothing, just like the real world.
Perfect growls for this type of metal. The cleans are beautiful and punchy(?) so to say. A fantastic band. That evil violin, just so well fitting. All the members playing amazingly well.
I'd be so angry if I got to a gig and the first band had already played, ahead of time! In Sweden, fortunately, we tend to stick with the times published. Now - Ne Obliviscaris AND Persefone on the same evening!? I'm so jealous... This song (too) is a masterpiece and I totally agree with Paz: their bass player is a beast! Granted a calm one but a beast none the less. Also - "double bass drums but in a subtle way" is something I'm going to start to use. That makes total sense!
this year is gonna be so hard to pick a best album. this is def up there top 3 for me. I definitely understand the sentiment with avoiding the most popular thing a particular band has released as a first go at it, cause it's usually more of a "fan favorite" rather than something that could a more well rounded experience of what the band offers, at least in a particular album.
Both Ne Obliviscaris and Perséfone have been amazing me in the last few years, so exciting you've got to see them!
Exul and Metanoia were the best albums from 2022 imo...
Every time I hear Perséfone I hear your voice saying "Math Metal"
Sorry about that
Tonight i think i shall fall asleep Ne Oblivlscaris ( not a bad thing )
This is an absolute virtuoso performance and really gripping as well. I'll be adding this album for sure. I can only imagine this being amazing live as long as the soundman knows his stuff, which is a feat for this music.
Pointless information: Manchester, New Hampshire is the most populated city in the New England states north of Boston. Also. no beard?
It fell off, bad glue.
Manchester UK is in Greater Manchester (don't ask) and is around 500,000. Greater Manchester is around 2.9 million. Founded in 79ad by the Romans. (What have they ever done for us)
@@PNW All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Umm the aqueduct?
In Calgary alberta Canada, we have a suburb named Manchester. Dont think its as popular as your Manchester though.
