Thank you!!! Imma do that shortly. And I’m also gonna check my kill switch to make sure it isn’t loosing contact. It was running and just wont start now. It spins like a top but wont start, so its either gas, air or fire. Right? I don’t think its major but I’ll find out. Thank you for these videos!!!
@@Sleazy_ridaI’m about to replace the fuel filter as well as rebuild the petcock. The bike was sitting for more than 2 years. Any other advice for me, I’d really greatly appreciate it. Also, I see your cap has the hose coming out from it. I have an 88 and my cap doesn’t have that hose connection. Could this be an issue?
No, the 88 had seven vacuum systems and I believe they changed it to six in 1990. If the cap doesn't have the port don't worry about it but anyway the one that I have only hangs down into nothing as a release. If your bike's been sitting for 2 years you might as well chalk up rebuilding the carburetor. Also was it sitting outside or inside? Because of its sitting outside for 2 years you may want to look at the vacuum lines
@@Sleazy_rida Thank you, I was so lost on the cap looking different that in the videos I’ve seen. I think it was indoors, the paint all looks pretty good for the year. The lines do feel solid to the touch so I’m gonna find out where I can purchase those from. So far I’ve only found the fuel line which I think is 3/8 if I’m not mistaken. I’ll have to dig in this weekend. But thanks again for the help!
I'll tell you what to do, bypass the petcock and run the fuel right from the tank to the carburetors... When you do that try to get it to kick over and start and if it starts see how it feels. That will all tell you whether you're going to need to rebuild the carburetors or not. I would do that first because rebuilding the carburetors is a bastard
I just got a 88 gl1500 and it as the bypass done like the end of the video. My bike has a high idle and mileage kinda sucks I’m assuming this is why.

Look at your filter and see if it's loading up, if not just bypass the petcock real quick and if it works then the petcock is your problem
I did just that and it cranked immediately. 🙏 thank you times 10!!!
I’m leaving it direct. Taking out the pet cock.
Glad to hear it man!
Just curious, what would be a reason to rebuild or replace this part?
When it cuts off your fuel supply

Why is it necessary to have 2 fuel shutoffs ?
I don't know what you mean by the second one but the petcock is just a safety feature. You can run the bike without it by bypassing
