Just purchased a 2000 year GL1500 SE model here in the U.K. Have noticed a slight surge when the bike is idling, so hopefully this video will point me in the right direction to help diagnose the problem.
My friend bought a gl1500 trike that is running rough at low rpms. I have to sync the carbs and I suspect a vacuum leak also. Long, long ago in a land far away I was a mechanic, and I can assure you that vacuum leaks really suck.
Thanks, I just replaced my timing belts, my next step is to find my vacuum leak, it's takes it for ever to warm up to idle. And the weather here is 80%.and it surges until it gets warm up.
Thank you so much for the video, I was trying to get out of pulling my carbs. Mine has a rough idle. Many thanks for the video. Maybe I can get mine fixed.
There might be hoses in the right side as well. I haven't opened the right side up to look. But my problem seemed to be fixed with just the left side fix for now anyway.
Great info! Which sizes did you end up using? Going to dive into this soon on my 94, would be nice to just have it on hand once I start opening things up
Thanks. I used mostly 5/32 with some 7/32 and 3/32. These were a little smaller than metric originals, but the main thing is snug fit on the fittings. Best to you
Hello, I have a problem with my GL 1500 and I think it comes from the vacuum tubes. The idle speed is now at 1400 rpm and in all gears the RPM rises to almost 4000, did that happen to you too? Thank you.

Wow!. Thanks for this video. I now have hope to find my vacuum leak with out pulling the carbs.

You might have a bad thermostat if it warms up slowly

Mine didn't go that high but I know a bad vacuum leak can cause that symptom
