- With the continued reemergence of the 10mm in popularity, a growing number of gun makers are releasing better pistols in this popular and powerful caliber. With the recent release of Smith & Wesson’s M&P 2.0 in 10mm, many now feel that this new offering by S&W may be the best of them all and could replace many Glocks on people’s sides as they head into the wilderness. So, is it truly a better option than the Glock 20 and 29? In this video we compare the three and show you out answer…
Here is a link to the front sight I used in the video: www.ameriglo.com/products/details/sw-800-320
Thanks for your video. The 10mm Auto is my favorite pistol cartridge.
Having owned several Glock Gen3 pistols and one Gen4 pistol over the years, I've converted to the S&W M&P M2.0 line of pistols.
Why? Simple. I prefer the M&P M2.0 pistols.
For me, the M&P M2.0 pistols are easier to shoot well, they're much more ergonomic, they come with better sights, better triggers, better grip texturing, better grip angle (except for the 10mm Auto), standard rifled barrels, fully supported chambers, they're less expensive, I love having the option for an ambidextrous manual thumb safety (AMTS), and they're made here in the USA by American labor and an iconic American gun manufacturer.
I never fired the gun with the OEM stock sights. Right out of the box, I installed a set of Trijicon Bright & Tough co-witnessing height tritium night sights, because I always put tritium night sights on all of my pistols. I've never had the problem of shooting low with these Trijicon sights.
All that aside, I rented some M&P M2.0 pistols and shot them side-by-side against some of my Glock pistols:
1. Glock 19 Gen3 vs. M&P 9 M2.0 4" Compact O.R.
2. Glock 26 Gen4 vs. M&P 9 M2.0 3.6" Subcompact
3. Glock 20SF Gen3 vs. M&P 10mm M2.0 4.6" O.R. w/ AMTS
In all three comparisons, I found the M&P pistols more comfortable in my hands and easier to shoot well.
Long story short, all my Glocks have been sold, replaced by my M&P pistols.
Good things! 👍
Very thorough review thanks but just one thing the sights that are on being higher just makes the distance between the sight and the barrel bigger so if you had for arguments sake sights that are 1 inch high you would shoot very very low the lower your sights are the closer to your point of aim you will get,if you get an m&p just practice with your sights and get to know your point of aim then you will not need to change your sights Sorry for sounding like a know it all i hhave one and have madtered the aiming debacle just thought this might help any new M&P gun owners.
have mine in 4.6" barrel and LUV it... I kept the tall sights but painted over the white dots with red in the rear and green in the front and it sure made a world of difference; i don't care for other optics other than iron sights....
I have the same exact one! Do you edc with it?
@@TruthGotGunz just for special occasions 🤗
I have the 4” barrel and I edc it just as much as I do my shield plus😂
@@TruthGotGunz I have carried it but not often, my EDC is the M&P 2.0 with 3.6" barrel in 40S&W
@@HOLY16CITY has your been giving you any issues feeding hot loads? I heard the 4” come with weak springs and can’t cycle anything over 180 grains.
1 dot O ? 2 Dot O?? 2 point zero
"The creepy take-up". Yes, that is nerve-wracking. I modified the striker block safety button by removing the spring that affects the "creepy take-up. You can access the safety block and spring by removing the Red Dot adaptor cover on the slide, then removing the oblong cover plate on the slide (one small hex socket screw holds it in.) The spring that is pushing the striker block can be removed (save the little spring) then reassemble without the spring. I do not know why S&W released such a creepy take up into the market. As soon as they, or performance group, or 3rd party trigger people, come up with a fix, I may reuse the spring, so save the little spring. WARNING! This DOES reduce one level of unintentional release of cocked striker safety system.
The worst pistol I have ever owned. Magazines drop out, misfires galore, sent in once already, will be sending it back AGAIN!
Smith & Wesson for the win!
I went with the M&P for the size. I knew I would need a new trigger and recoil spring. Also plan on Red dot.
The suppressor sights make perfect sense to Cowitness with the red dot
Don’t forget you can use 40 s&w in it
Agree - I have fired a good amount of my "old store" 40 SW ammo through it and it fires remarkably reliably well in a 10mm pistol.
Mine is really well behaved, but it chokes on anything lighter than 180 grain.
Luckily, G9 is literally on my way to work.
You'd be surprised how often moose and bear initiate gunfights in North Idaho.
I own a 4.625 inch M&P 2.0 10mm and use optic height X/S steel tritium night sights on mine. Qualified using mine instead of using the 508T Holosun red dot mounted on it. No safety lever on mine.
Did you change the trigger to APEX trigger?
What is the model# for this 10mm?
Xd's have the tightest sites
what front sight size did you get and what aiming picture did it produce

Hello, I know others have asked, but I was wondering what exact front sight you ended up going with? I am thinking about getting this, but I'd rather not have to deal with the insane drop with the stock front sight.

@@AZTrigger Thank you so much. Also meant to say, I really loved the review and has helped me in my decision to go ahead and get one of these. Earned my sub because I love a place I can go for a no nonsense review.
Could you give the ameriglo part#? I also hated the suppresor sight.

@@AZTrigger Thank you.
I have never seen a holster where its just a piece of leather and the gun never actually goes in it.
Try it - they are great. The one I mentioned works for nearly all my semi-autos and always works. It also creates the closest OWB fit as well.
Yeah, possibly the worst "holster" I've ever seen, definitely an acquired taste. I love Hidden Hybrid. Having the nice backing of leather so the gun doesn't rub against my skin....or more importantly, I don't sweat all over the gun, which in Florida is simply going to happen without the right holster.
Just pray you get one of them that actually fire and doesn't jam.
I've heard the same
Since changing out the weak stock 17# RSA and soft stock magazine springs in late May 2022, I've run 2,300+ rounds of 10mm Auto ammo through mine, enjoying 100% perfectly flawless operation.
It's a great pistol.
Good things! 👍
The single worse gun ever made.
*worst. Not true at all. Not even close.
@@Baker-e8s one of the best paper weights ever created then? Or the worst of the worse?
@@dtodeen show us where the gun hurt you. did it touch you inappropriately? you seem to be scarred.
@@Baker-e8s you what hurts?
Great honest review. It’s the same impression I had. The grip is fantastic! I had the same result with a low group. My first time firing the M&P 2.0 was a 3 round group. All were 6 o’clock low, and Robin Hood with 2 of the 3. The trigger was awful compared to my 1006. Looking at the additional cost of getting low profile sights and trigger control group, I went with the XDM compact instead. I haven’t given up, and counting on S&W to improve these features, and hopefully introducing a true 10mm compact. Thank you for your assessment. 👍🏼
My 4.6” was dead on elevation and about 2 inches left. Very consistent. I just need to drift my rear sight a smidge. But it’s good enough for consistent hits in a 6” group at 25 yards. I also have an optic on mine now which is the primary sighting system. I think the trigger is pretty good but I will be adding the apex trigger at some point. I do edc this pistol quite a bit aiwb, and I always take it camping, hiking, hunting etc.
I have the four inch version. I have the 40 also. I have shot 10 mm in my 40 and vice versa.
You did not fire 10mm Auto ammo in a .40 S&W pistol. The longer 10mm Auto cartridge is too long for the shallow .40 S&W chamber. Your pistol would not go into battery.
@jpg_sig10 yes, I did. Shoot my 10 mm on my 40 semi.
@stolnpckup
You're saying you fired 10mm Auto cartridges out of your .40 S&W caliber pistol, those long 10mm Auto bullet cases fit the shallow .40 S&W barrel bullet chamber, and allowed your slide to go fully into battery?
Do I have this right?
The long 10mm Auto ammunition cases weren't sticking way out of your shallow .40 S&W barrel chamber?
The pistol actually fired?
The long 10mm Auto bullet cases were supported, despite the shallow .40 S&W caliber barrel bullet chamber?
These 10mm Auto cartridges didn't explode?
What am I misunderstanding?
@jpg_sig10 yes, they actually fired. Slide back and inserted another round into the chamber. Since I saw that you can shoot 40 out of a 10. I figured. I would try it the other way around.
Ha! My department also went to 1.0 9mm and they were absolute junk. So after 4 years of complaints, my department made S&W trade for 2.0’s straight across the board and that is a definite improvement. I 💙 my two M&P 2.0’s …in 9mm. However my M&P 10mm has reliability issues if it shoots anything heavier than 200 grains. I’ve lost faith and much rather prefer my Gen5 Glock 20 MOS for big game hunting.
Good points. I typically don't shoot above 200 grains due to the up-spring issues I used to run into with my Glocks. I will try a few 220 grain mags next time out and see if I run into the same issues. My previous use was limited to 180-200 grain rounds.
