hello Kevin, I am a newbie on Quicktime and already learned a few things from you on this video.....Thank you for that. I have a question Is it posable to zoom in on something specific while making a video ?
Thanks for letting me know. As far as zooming in, you might be able to use the + and - keys but not as good as you can in something like Final Cut Pro.
Hi Kevin, Many thanks - excellent... Quick question.. on the Maximum setting is uses a LOT of disc space (like, way more than say 4K) ... approx 500MB per minute... can this be right? Do people really record this way? Kind regards, Sam
Hello Kevin. This video was exactly what I needed. Thank you.. I have very much enjoyed your work and pressed your ‘like’ button. I am desperately seeking advice for starting my own channel, but not for making any money. I have decided on the content and look forward to learning the production process.. I simply want to produce a channel for my own amusement, even if no-one watches it. I would prefer to have no adverts at all. Do you have any suggestions, or know of any suitable videos to advise me? Many thanks. I hope that you have all the success you desire with your own projects. Love, light and peace, Bob
Hey Bob...thanks for reaching out and sharing. Even though UA-cam isn't perfect, it's still the best out there for business and fun too. Regarding advertisements - UA-cam made the decision some time last year that it reserves the right to run ads on any channel whether that channel is in the Partner Program or not. Simply stated, you may have ads on your videos without being able to stop it or earn. Beyond that, I would say, if it's purely for fun, just hit record and go for it. The less you try and learn the right things to do (which vary widely) the better you may be because it'll be real and you!
Could be so many things - size of the file, resolution, your connection/internet speed. Personally, I only upload in 1080p and try and keep the file as small as possible without losing any quality. Hope that helps some.
As long as your computer can see your camera, including an iPhone, it should work. As far as the cables, that depends on your camera and if it has clean HDMI out or not.
I'm a Mac user, been relying on Ecamm's Call Recorder app for years to record my Skype music lessons, the movie shows both parties in full screen side by side. Ecamm won't make the app compatible with M1 Macs, so I'm searching frantically for a new way to achieve that end result. Anyone have ideas?
I don't know much about Ecamm's Call Recorder BUT I use Ecamm all the time for streaming and recording. I know Ecamm is M1 compatible and works great on my Mac Mini with the M1 chip. I would love to hear any tips you have for quicker upload. I know it's not an internet issue, so other troubleshooting tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know. Regarding QT. You have 2 types of recording options under "Quality". Make sure you record on "HIGH" so your file size won't be so big. That should help some but no it shouldn't be taking that long to upload a 15min video. You might want to try using Compressor to make the file size smaller and just right for UA-cam. Hard to say exactly how long but should be closer to the length of the video. Hope that helps
@@TheRadiantLifeProject had another thought. Are you editing your videos at all? If not, that's another way to cut down on the length. After you record with QT use iMovie (if you're new to editing) and trim it down, then covert and upload too.

@Kevin Kolbe I have Logic Pro and that outputs correctly. Audacity outputs correctly. I'm stumped. It's odd to me there seems to be no settings to adjust in quicktime.
Hmmm. Yeah that is odd.

Perhaps you should know that this is utterly useless for a beginner, since as early as 1.59 you start using vocabulary with no explanations- e.g. 'right now I'm using my canon g7 mark 3' - what does this mean, that you're 'using' that? - do you see, you've already failed to realise how much you are using terms one needs to go elsewhere (but where!?) to understand what you're talking about!
I think most anyone, including beginners, can figure out what "using that" means especially since I'm talking about the cameras I'm using. Thanks for watching.
