  • For over a year, our 2013 GL550 has had a loud buzzing noise coming from the front right (US passenger) side. Usually happens when the car is cold started - always goes away. I plugged in scanning equipment, pulled the codes... found it was AIRMATIC components.
In the video, follow along as I replace the valve distribution block (212-320-03-58) and the AIRMATIC compressor (old part was 166-320-02-04; new Arnott part is P-3268).
Typically, I'll only use genuine Mercedes-Benz parts on our cars. But Arnott makes a great product and I've been using their parts in our cars for years. They're typically in stock at AutoZone too- so no waiting for a part to come in. You can pick it up today

Fixed it last night!!! Replaced compressor due a loud noise and since all 4 were down I figured it must be a compressor. Car went up right away and stayed perfect overnight

Nicely done! I really like the AIRMATIC system. Super comfortable ride and not too complicated. Cheers 🍻

My rear if on the ground. Does vehicle need to be elevated when changing valve block ? of it needs to be elevated only when changing rear air struts? Thank you

Good question - when replacing the valve block, you can just jack up the front of the car like I did. The rear being lowered is OK and expected as removing the air lines from the valve block will release all the air in the system. When the car comes back on, the compressor will refill the components. The compressor (when working properly) has safeguards to prevent extreme usage... For example, it monitors its temperature it'll stop temporarily if it's overheated. But filling the system up when empty is not a problem at all. AIRMATIC is a very nice system 🙂
