      Again, I don’t blame Dooku (or Anakin) for losing faith in the corrupt Republic. Mace’s statement is total B.S. if you consider that the Jedi are too entangled in the Republic’s politics. Jedi like Dooku, Qui Gon, Ahsoka, and Anakin are unique in that they were independent thinkers in an order that was too dogmatic, and mindless.

    One could say Yaddle lost her strength in shock at seeing who was under the hood, knowing the Republic is now under the control of the Sith.

    Yaddle is one of Yoda's species. She was in the Phantom Menance but never seen again. Now we know what happened to her. Wait till you see the Mandalorian. There is another one of that species.

    Hello, Ben! Hope you are well!
    Episode 3 takes place prior to The Phantom Menace. So, Palpatine is still only a Senator at this point. Yes, he is manipulating some events, but not as extensively as you're thinking.
    Episode 4 takes place during The Phantom Menace. Dooku (Aka Darth Tyranis at this point) erased Kamino from the archives, which is why Obi-Wan couldn't find the system in Attack of the Clones. You'll notice, he used the passcode for Syfo Dias, the Jedi who placed the order for the clone army. Also, it was Dooku (Tyranis) who recruited Jango Fett to be the DNA donor for the clones. Re-watch Episode II and pay attention to what Jango told Obi-Wan on Kamino. "I was recruited by a man called Tyranis on the moons of Bogda." Palpatine was playing both sides at this point.
    11:03 - Yoda and Yaddle are the same species, yes. However, the species has never been named (except by a joke Lucas made during an interview many years ago. He used the word "Mench", which is Yiddish for "man", I think). Lucas wanted the species to remain unnamed and a mystery.... so it's likely we'll never truly know the name of the species, nor what planet they come from.
    11:20 - Yaddle was in The Phantom Menace. Watch the scenes with the Jedi Council, and you will see her on the left side of the screen. Yes, she talks "normally". Yoda's speech pattern highlights (or accentuates) what you should focus on first, then why. Rather than the typical speech pattern.
    16:25 - Yaddle's species is VERY powerful with The Force. Minor spoiler: You will meet a 3rd member of the species at some point, but I won't say when. We honestly don't know if any of them are related to one another, but it's possible. But also, in Attack of the Clones, everyone noticed that Yaddle was no longer in the Jedi Council scenes, and it was rumoured that she had died between Episodes I and II. This confirmed that theory. Also, Yaddle had no lines in Episode I..... but here, she is voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard (yes, related to Ron Howard), who directs some episodes of The Mandalorian.
    Also, notice that it was "Good intentions" that made Dooku turn to the Dark Side, just like Anakin. You know that old saying, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." Dooku is yet another example of that. Also, Palpatine's manipulation of people's desire to do the right thing. In all of cinema history, he may well be the most well written villain ever. He is a master manipulator.
    I'm really looking forward to your continuing journey down the Star Wars rabbit hole! You're pacing yourself perfectly, and you're picking up on a lot of things many people miss on their first viewing. I commend you for that, my young Padawan.

      Wow, I really like how little we know about Yoda now, the fact that he's purposefully meant to be this mysterious figure and everyone's just okay with it is really cool. Love that there's a purpose behind Yoda's speech, thought it was just a fun creative choice but to actually serve as an enlightened turn of phrase seems so amazing.
      Can't wait to meet this third member!! After seeing what Yoda and Yaddle can do I'm so looking forward to seeing another little green elf hopping around the place 😂
      YES! Love how Dooku and Anakin's stories have mirrored each other! The idea that both these characters were spurred by good intentions but fell to the dark side is so tragic!
      Completely agree, Palpatine is such an amazing villain and SO well-written! Absolutely love his character and the fact we barely have any backstory on him either is so interesting, he's managed to gather this intense, iconic presence from his present actions alone.
      It makes me so happy you're enjoying these videos 😁😁 thank you again for all of this, so looking forward to continuing this Journey!!!

    Dooku left the order shortly after the last episode, but due to his history and standing with the Jedi, he was held in high regard so he was allowed to visit the Temple on occasion, which Dooku used to delete Kamino from the archives and cover up the formation of the Clone Army.
    The rest, as they say, is history...

  • @TimberlakeTigerGirl
    @TimberlakeTigerGirl Рік тому +11

    Dooku's story is extremely tragic. He is the definition of 'the road to hell is paved with good intentions'. He truly wanted to restart the republic over and rid the Senate of corruption. And just like Anakin, Dooku fell to the false promises of Sidious to change the galaxy. And in time, ended up becoming the very thing he swore to destroy.
    The only thing that held Dooku back from fully embracing the dark side at first was Qui Gon Jin. He wasnt just Dooku's apprentice, he was like a son to him. Dooku really loved him as a father loves his children. When Qui Gon died, in part because of the Jedi Council ignoring his warnings, is what finally pushed Dooku over the edge. And killing Yaddle was the moment the Jedi Dooku died and Darth Tyrannus was born.
    Its kind of ironic if you think about it: the galaxy was set on fire because a father lost his son (Dooku and Qui Gon), and then reborn from a father saving his son at the cost of his own life (Anakin and Luke).

    The episode with Yaddle's death is interestingly put together. Because we know she was around in Episode 1, the Phantom menace, however, during Qui-Gon's funeral she just isn't there anymore. That had always been a bit of a question, and this show finally answered it for us.

  • @hehu4025

    In Episode 4, Dooku is no longer a member of the Jedi Order. He left after the Civil War on Serenno and became a Count (several years before The Phantom Menace). Yoda told him that he would always be welcome and that he is a friend of the Order.
    He still had many friends there whom he had known his whole life, so he visited them regularly. However, after Qui-Gon's death, Dooku never visited the Order again.
    The conversation about Maul is interesting. Dooku is disappointed with the Council's passivity. Instead of concealing Palpatine's plan and questioning what Qui-Gon said, Dooku agrees with him. Dooku is deeply conflicted, and I wouldn't be surprised if he would betray Palpatine if he saw a change in the Jedi.
    The tree scene devastated me when I first watched it. It was by that tree that Dooku began his training with Yoda. He always enjoyed spending time there. One could say that Dooku's identity as a Jedi was shaped there.
    As for Palpatine, he knew that after Maul's death, he had a replacement. Dooku didn't know that it would be his initiation. Palpatine was well aware that Yaddle followed Dooku. Most likely, he met with the Jedi Council, saw Yaddle was "absent", and could put the facts together. Ironically, he said he had been betrayed. He wanted to force Dooku into a decision from which there would be no turning back.

    • @benspiller
      @benspiller  Рік тому +3

      Didn't know Dooku was inbetween Jedi and Sith at this time, cool that the council actually let him leave and become an independent force weilder. Absolutley loved the tree scene, it's all so still and quite creating that sobber feel that the characters are experiencing and the connections that Tree has to Yoda, Dooku and Qui-Gon made it even better. Still love how every scene Palpatine is in shows off how masterfull he is, even those subtle lines prove how easy it is for him to back people in to corners.

    • @hehu4025
      @hehu4025 Рік тому

      @@benspiller In episode 4, Dooku is already an agent of Sidious. He is not a Sith solely due to the Rule of Two. Right after Maul's death, Dooku becomes the new apprentice.
      My autocorrect made a mistake - instead of the Clone Wars on Serenno, I meant the Civil War on Serenno.
      I wouldn't say he was something between a Sith and a Jedi. When he left the Order, he became a Count and focused on his planet, enjoying prosperity and becoming an aristocrat. When he met Palpatine, he didn't immediately know his true identity. It can be compared to Anakin. Palpatine gradually exerted more influence on him and manipulated him, preparing him for the revelation of his identity. When Palpatine revealed his identity, Dooku was then something between a Jedi and a Sith.

      @Ben Spiller I believe it was originally George Lucas's idea. He wanted Yoda and his species to be mysterious, so none of the future Star Wars creators are allowed to reveal their species name or home world. It's also implied that they have a special connection to the force, though this is also probably not going to get expanded upon. IMO, this adds a cool level of mystery to the universe.
