I will never forget the time I encountered a fallen biker on the road and witnessed first hand the amazing work the entirely charity funded air ambulance do to save peoples lives. I have donated every month ever since to this understated and crucial service too often taken for granted. September 18th is a very brave time to be setting off on a journey to the far north .... just don't try and ride in snow as that rarely ends well. Good luck. I wasn't sure what the ripping up of your garage floor was supposed to represent but I'm guessing that as well as giving up your job for a few months you've also given up your flat?
Life wouldn't be the same without the sprocket. Your videos encouraged me to get a bike and tour the UK and i'm loving it. I once wrote "Its your imperfections that make you perfect Saffy" I hope your about for along time to keep influencing us all to achieve our goals and not to be scared of our imperfections. Doing the same trip in 18 months or so going through Sweden then back down Norway. Had depression and anxiety and that’s why I’m doing it to get out my comfort zone

Riding to Nordkapp was a plan of mine just before covid hit. I now have trouble riding for long enough in a day to be able to do it, so I'm planning on doing it in my car. I am extremely jealous of you! The Norwegians (i managed to get a week there last year) I've met have been really friendly and helpful, and the country is incredible. Dear Saffy That looks like a great adventure. I hope you bring your spike tires since the weatherforcast tell us snow (about 20cm) tomorrow 19 Sept. On the way down if you pass sweden (Kiruna) and need a warm Bath or sauna and maybe need to to some laundary just give me a wave.... We do have a guest room aswell so if you need to warmup and dry out a bit we can fix that aswell. Also for your info. wild camping is allowed EVERWERE in sweden, well aslong as you are not camping in someones garden :). Have a great trip and drive safe.

Many people don’t realise it, but maintain a YT channel is A LOT of work. I often wanted to start it but every time I summarised it it was clear that it is not compatible with a real life full-time job. I hope you stay well, thank you for all your effords and keep enjoying riding motorcycles 🤟🏻
Hey Life a Bike! Buckle up, it's speech time. How to start: I also have a full-time job :-) I work 40 hours a week; you can do both! My best advice for you is to start by trying to make just one single video a month and pick a date you can commit to. For example, pick the last Sunday of the month. Don't push yourself to do weekly blogs, especially in the beginning. Maybe pick something nearby or easy to do, like camping an hour away from home or a DIY project. That way, you have 2 weeks to decide what you want to do, a weekend to actually do it and a weekend to edit the video. The reason I say to focus on one single video to start off with is because you develop SO SO SO SO many skills from video editing, and naturally, you get faster and faster every time you do it. Producing 4 videos a month currently takes me as much time and effort as producing one video in my first month, so the pressure is the same. If you tell yourself you'll do X amount of work before you've acquired the skills to get it done, you'll hate it! It's like with your first ever job; they give you easy tasks to start with, but it still feels so so so so overwhelming. Then, you get a little more mature, your capacity increases, and you get harder tasks. It's the same for video editing; treat yourself like a teenager with your first job! What to film: Wherever you spend the most time is where you should film, it will be easier! Love camping? great go do that. Love DIY? Go Do that! Don't push yourself into areas that aren't your natural interests; always follow the fun! Don't try to look for a direction; I had no direction when I started; I was doing it for fun. it then started to grow and grow, and as I've gotten bigger, I've spoken to more and more people, and the direction gets clearer. If I rolled with where I thought my channel would go when I started from Day 1, it would have been a product review channel; however, as I grew, I realised that travel was where I loved to spend my time. How to grow: My first tip for starting out is to MAKE THE VIDEOS FOR YOURSELF! I started out with basically a diary for myself. I started doing this because I thought one day I'd be old with grandkids, and it would be fun to sit with them and watch videos from my Youth. Just get going, make it easy to do, and keep rolling. My main top tip: Sometimes video making sucks. There are tears. There are mental breakdowns. I've pushed out content that sucked. I've pushed out half-edited content. I've deleted terrible content. I've been in a bad mood, and I've been stressed. I've felt like an idiot more times than I can count. I've gone to quit more times than I have ever counted. I've lost money so many times on stupid projects. Every UA-camr goes through a whole range of emotions. If you ever hit as brick wall and feel any of the above, it's totally normal. You're not a failure; it's just hard sometimes. P.S Everyone hates the sound of their own voice; editing your videos will be painful. Every UA-camr is in the same boat, and you will cringe. Just keep moving foreard
You chose a time of year that can give you some challenges on this trip. Autumn in Norway is a different beast than in England. And if you ride the coastal route you showed here, it will take you through the most beautiful parts, but also the most exposed weatherwise, in Norway. S. Sprocket, Good luck on your adventure. It is a noble cause and I encourage you doing so. I will say this: rotary-wing (helicopter) maintenance costs are three times what a fixed-wing (air/aeroplane) aircraft maintenance costs. I think whatever hospital receives patients via NWAA, then those are the facilities that should be contributing to the costs incurred by NWAA. Fuel, maintenance, administrative, pilots, medics, hangars, heliports....et cetera. Or.....make it a government-mandated service to it's country's people. Make it a tax for services rendered whether it is used or not. A shared cost from everyone in the country would be helpful.

Saffy, having done Norway in June this year in almost constant daylight, I can say the roads and scenery are mind blowing! It was a trip I will never forget and will live with me forever. I'm sure you know Norway is expensive and I'm not sure what it will be like riding as the days get shorter there but that said, enjoy it! Two things, go right to the front of ferry queues, bikes board first it is accepted there and tolls do not apply to bikes. I hope you like tunnels there are some huge ones in Norway! It's also fun to be able to tell people you've been to Hell and back, should you visit there. Most of all, have fun.

When you ride Norway you will probably see craft shops (Wigwams) Some sell reindeer skins, I bought a patch not to disimilar to the ones you see riders using sheep skin seat coverings. You can get them with a heavy fur pile and they are great for long rides. I found they helped numb bumb syndrome but I also found because the fur was so thick when you were sitting on it the compression of the fur kept you sitting slightly above the skin and allowed on wet riding days for the water to drain cutting down on the sitting in a puddle feeling you get on wet riding days. Give it a try, it works x

Bear with me, i’ve only just recently discoverd your channel and because of work commitments, i’m a bit behind on your videos…as in i’ve only just finished watching your first service trilogy. However, as an experienced rider, if you’re planning on doing this trip…i’d strongly suggest you upgrade your riding gear, mainly your outer jacket and trousers, for something more durable and warmer…possibly with a detachable lining. Also, for the psychological element, may I recommend that you watch The Long Way Round and/or The Long Way Down, starring Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman….these may give you ideas as to what to expect for a long journey😊 Other than that, enjoy the riding and carry on being you😊😊
So if you did all the stuff to please others - all I can say that you pleased me quite a bit. I actually think about copying your idea and go on a motorcycle journey to support a chartity. I will never forget the time I encountered a fallen biker on the road and witnessed first hand the amazing work the entirely charity funded air ambulance do to save peoples lives. I have donated every month ever since to this understated and crucial service too often taken for granted. Life wouldn't be the same without the sprocket. Your videos encouraged me to get a bike and tour the UK and i'm loving it. I once wrote "Its your imperfections that make you perfect Saffy" I hope your about for along time to keep influencing us all to achieve our goals and not to be scared of our imperfections. The best gifts in life come to you when you make a leap of faith and just jump. Do what feels right to you, no matter how scary it feels. In 2019 I quit my job, left everything behind and started from scratch off grid. If it's where your heart is pulling you, abundance you've never known will follow. But who am I to talk, it took me 5 years to jump.

Riding to Nordkapp was a plan of mine just before covid hit. I now have trouble riding for long enough in a day to be able to do it, so I'm planning on doing it in my car. I am extremely jealous of you! The Norwegians (i managed to get a week there last year) I've met have been really friendly and helpful, and the country is incredible. You'll have an amazing time, and I hope you manage to raise loads for the cause. Har en god tur!

Dear Saffy That looks like a great adventure. I hope you bring your spike tires since the weatherforcast tell us snow (about 20cm) tomorrow 19 Sept. On the way down if you pass sweden (Kiruna) and need a warm Bath or sauna and maybe need to to some laundary just give me a wave.... We do have a guest room aswell so if you need to warmup and dry out a bit we can fix that aswell. Also for your info. wild camping is allowed EVERWERE in sweden, well aslong as you are not camping in someones garden :). Have a great trip and drive safe.

Many people don’t realise it, but maintain a YT channel is A LOT of work. I often wanted to start it but every time I summarised it it was clear that it is not compatible with a real life full-time job. I hope you stay well, thank you for all your effords and keep enjoying riding motorcycles 🤟🏻
Hey Life a Bike! Buckle up, it's speech time.
How to start:
I also have a full-time job :-) I work 40 hours a week; you can do both! My best advice for you is to start by trying to make just one single video a month and pick a date you can commit to. For example, pick the last Sunday of the month.
Don't push yourself to do weekly blogs, especially in the beginning. Maybe pick something nearby or easy to do, like camping an hour away from home or a DIY project. That way, you have 2 weeks to decide what you want to do, a weekend to actually do it and a weekend to edit the video.
The reason I say to focus on one single video to start off with is because you develop SO SO SO SO many skills from video editing, and naturally, you get faster and faster every time you do it. Producing 4 videos a month currently takes me as much time and effort as producing one video in my first month, so the pressure is the same. If you tell yourself you'll do X amount of work before you've acquired the skills to get it done, you'll hate it!
It's like with your first ever job; they give you easy tasks to start with, but it still feels so so so so overwhelming. Then, you get a little more mature, your capacity increases, and you get harder tasks. It's the same for video editing; treat yourself like a teenager with your first job!
What to film:
Wherever you spend the most time is where you should film, it will be easier! Love camping? great go do that. Love DIY? Go Do that! Don't push yourself into areas that aren't your natural interests; always follow the fun!
Don't try to look for a direction; I had no direction when I started; I was doing it for fun. it then started to grow and grow, and as I've gotten bigger, I've spoken to more and more people, and the direction gets clearer. If I rolled with where I thought my channel would go when I started from Day 1, it would have been a product review channel; however, as I grew, I realised that travel was where I loved to spend my time.
How to grow:
My first tip for starting out is to MAKE THE VIDEOS FOR YOURSELF! I started out with basically a diary for myself. I started doing this because I thought one day I'd be old with grandkids, and it would be fun to sit with them and watch videos from my Youth. Just get going, make it easy to do, and keep rolling.
My main top tip:
Sometimes video making sucks. There are tears. There are mental breakdowns. I've pushed out content that sucked. I've pushed out half-edited content. I've deleted terrible content. I've been in a bad mood, and I've been stressed. I've felt like an idiot more times than I can count. I've gone to quit more times than I have ever counted. I've lost money so many times on stupid projects. Every UA-camr goes through a whole range of emotions. If you ever hit as brick wall and feel any of the above, it's totally normal. You're not a failure; it's just hard sometimes.
P.S Everyone hates the sound of their own voice; editing your videos will be painful. Every UA-camr is in the same boat, and you will cringe. Just keep moving foreard

S. Sprocket, Good luck on your adventure. It is a noble cause and I encourage you doing so. I will say this: rotary-wing (helicopter) maintenance costs are three times what a fixed-wing (air/aeroplane) aircraft maintenance costs. I think whatever hospital receives patients via NWAA, then those are the facilities that should be contributing to the costs incurred by NWAA. Fuel, maintenance, administrative, pilots, medics, hangars, heliports....et cetera. Or.....make it a government-mandated service to it's country's people. Make it a tax for services rendered whether it is used or not. A shared cost from everyone in the country would be helpful.

Saffy, having done Norway in June this year in almost constant daylight, I can say the roads and scenery are mind blowing! It was a trip I will never forget and will live with me forever.
I'm sure you know Norway is expensive and I'm not sure what it will be like riding as the days get shorter there but that said, enjoy it!
Two things, go right to the front of ferry queues, bikes board first it is accepted there and tolls do not apply to bikes. I hope you like tunnels there are some huge ones in Norway!
It's also fun to be able to tell people you've been to Hell and back, should you visit there.

When you ride Norway you will probably see craft shops (Wigwams) Some sell reindeer skins, I bought a patch not to disimilar to the ones you see riders using sheep skin seat coverings. You can get them with a heavy fur pile and they are great for long rides. I found they helped numb bumb syndrome but I also found because the fur was so thick when you were sitting on it the compression of the fur kept you sitting slightly above the skin and allowed on wet riding days for the water to drain cutting down on the sitting in a puddle feeling you get on wet riding days. Give it a try, it works x

Bear with me, i’ve only just recently discoverd your channel and because of work commitments, i’m a bit behind on your videos…as in i’ve only just finished watching your first service trilogy.
However, as an experienced rider, if you’re planning on doing this trip…i’d strongly suggest you upgrade your riding gear, mainly your outer jacket and trousers, for something more durable and warmer…possibly with a detachable lining. Also, for the psychological element, may I recommend that you watch The Long Way Round and/or The Long Way Down, starring Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman….these may give you ideas as to what to expect for a long journey😊
Other than that, enjoy the riding and carry on being you😊😊

Sorry to see you are stop doing UA-cam 😞. you have expire a lot of people it how exciting riding a motorcycle is. On a personal note you expired me to finally get my CBT and to get the full licence because of your video Saffy which I'm grateful for you 😊. With your video you show that you don't have to be perfect and mistakes happen and you can laugh and smile at them. But they got to another biker and his gf (ride the bean out in the wilds, Norwegian chap).
Be carefull for hidden dangers, he never saw a stream crossing and bam was off.
P.s I'd make sure you know how to fix a puncture at least. Something I must do!
