Pope John Paul II reflected the message of Divine Mercy both in his life’s witness, and through his many writings. He canonized Sister Faustina in 2000, and designated the Sunday after Easter as the Feast of Divine Mercy, finally fulfilling a request Jesus had made to Sister Faustina. For John Paul, it was also a fulfillment of a life-long mission.

This is just beautiful. I remember all of this happening. I have been devoted to the Divine Mercy message & chaplet for many years now. A very important thing to know is that a special kind of plenary indulgence may be obtained in connection with Divine Mercy Sunday. All remisssion of sins AND THE PUNISHMENT DUE for these sins is washed away. You are as clean as you were when you were baptized. What an astounding gift of God's mercy!
