I certainly was NOT Catholic, when in say, the late, or at least mid-70's when I accidentally was stopped when visiting Chicago for the first time, and had to stay stopped. So, I got out of the car to see what the commotion was all about. It was THIS Pope, and I found myself within about 10 feet of him in his Popemobile. Then, after marrying my husband, a life long Catholic, we had an occasion to be invited on the Notre Dame campus to preview Newt Gingrich's film on this remarkable man's visit to Poland when it was predominated by the Communists. It should be REQUIRE viewing in say, Jr. High or High School, as it has to do with having something to believe in again .... It showed the will of the people to walk 30-50 miles to see him! It was biblical ... and I don't mean in just a religious way ... but, rather the spirit of the human spirit.

We need brave and courageous, focus minded with unwavering loyalty to the believers. John Paul II please pray for me in becoming a wise and genuine young lady. I love John paul II and he is a model for he gave us a book and God really brought him to really have him as His instrument. I am a college student and studying to become a registered nurse but some day I really want to have a beautiful wedding in my white gown with my future husband by my side. Chris is right in saying that there is nothing more attractive than Holiness. You can use whatever philosophy you want, but nothing speaks louder than how we live our life. I know there are a lot of self-proclaimed Atheists in the world today (or at least just on UA-cam) but, when the hardest times in life come, we find more peace in trusting the God of the Universe than ourselves. I don't care what you say. I've been in the lowest parts of life and I never found solace in my own thoughts. You see God doesn't prevent bad things from happening all the time, God comforts those that experience the effects of negative actions or horrible accidents/disasters. That's a bigger God than we can imagine!

Thank God for spiritual leaders like Saint John Paul II. He was a Saint during life; how grateful we can honor him now. We need more religious/leaders to remind us to love each other and not destroy each other. Heaven knows we have lost sight of this.

The American bishops repeatedly told JP II that World Youth Day in Colorado would be a big failure. They estimated that it would be very hard to get even 60,000 American youth to sign up. But JP II sort of ignored them and insisted on coming and doing WYD there. There were more than 250,000 people there, and it was a huge success. Many, many boys who went to WYD later became priests. That's what a saint can do.

The Pope is relaying to us the words and commands of Christ which many pastors, reverends, priests and ministers do as well. However, these godly men are not the only ones who should be preaching to us. We are all called to evangelize and go into all the world and preach the word of God. These were Jesus words to humanity.
