First time I ever took my girlfriend trout fishing, she had never been before. She's ready to give up on trout fishing. Then she hooks the biggest rainbow trout I've ever seen. Fights it 20 minutes. We get it landed she is shaking like a leaf. She was Instantly addicted to trout fishing after that day. Gotta love beginners luck!
That is why catch and release is the best. It gives people like this girl a chance to catch something that she will remember for the rest of her life. Good job girl!
I live in Southern Michigan, I have dedicatedly fished for muskies and never caught one that big...Caught a couple of 47"+ fish and lost some bigger. The Michigan state record was caught by a guy fishing for small mouth bass with 8lb. test, it weighed 58 pounds!!! Nearly every record musky has been caught by accident on shit tackle. I recently taught my friend how to musky fish...he commenced to catch a 54" musky on his first ever trip with me...Good thing that I don't gamble.
I catch tons of musky by accident using bass tackle. I went out for a week straight trying for musky, (65lb braid, big lures etc.) and only got 1 folllow all week i was pissed. Went back out for bass on the last 2 hours of the trip and caught a 4.5lb largemouth and a 10lb musky. Freaking ridiculous.
Well done/caught Sarah!; Always great to see the girls and ladies involved in Angling! A proud achievement indeed: hope you are still enjoying your angling! Catch another big'un!
Caught a 47 pounder the first time I was in Muskie waters but I had to go all the way to Canada. My father did too 60 years ago but he had to go to Canada as well. Nice to know there are some monsters around Kentucky.
My 16 year old just caught her first musky 38 inch up in northern Wisconsin proud father moment I swear awesome fish nice looking mount can't wait till I get a 50 plus
Just happened onto this video and it about made my day! Good on you dad for getting your daughter out there involved in the outdoors! what a beautiful experience for the both of you to look back on and remember forever, And wow..... what a fish! Wish the video stated what gear and what it was caught on... but nonetheless good for you!!
Great story absolutely loved it. And I'd like to say congratulations to the young lady , that's amazing. Now the only problem she has. Is beating her own record 😂
i have never went muskie fishing in my life. I plan on going sometime this summer and this fall, but i was wondering if i have any good baits? I have a gold 9" Bull Dawg 9" green bait with a yellow and orange belly and a black stripe on its back and red eyes, and my dad has a 9" ol' woden plug. So are any of these good?

Dang nice fish, especially for a 14 year old girl. I've been Muskie fishing since I was 6 and have only ever caught two, and the biggest was barely over 40 inches long. Might I add I live in Wisconsin, which has more Muskie waters than Minnesota, Michigan, and Ontario put together. Maybe she should go to the Chippewa River up here in Wiscy and try for a world record. There's been Muskie jaws the size of wolf jaws found along that river.
Too bad they were not able to revive it but it wasnt meant to be. Beautiful fish. The lakes I go to in Ontario have 54 inch as the minimum limit and its got some monsters in it. My best is a 53 incher but she revived easily and swam off. A buddy of mine is a musky guide in Wisconsin and these lakes are where he goes for vacation.
cut my first-ever muskie on April 1st cloudy day floating jig with a chub and it was 47 inches long female and by the time I got her on shore my hook was almost straight of course nobody around but white with long and she was tired she I tried to put her in the water and it kept going belly-up so I kept her got her mounted
Scott was are guide through muskielodge.com and he put us on so many chances, we caught 2 the 1st day and the 2nd time was tough but Scott Your the man!
This is hands-down one of my all-time favorite outdoors stories.
I've been in search of a fish like that for 38 years. She did it in 14 congrats
i won't ever play the lottery ever again either.
She caught that Muskie that was the same age as she was ? That’s absolutely wonderful !!!
Congratulations on an awesome catch and a lot of credit goes to you for first trying to release it. The taxidermy work is impeccable.

What did she catch it on??? Don't tell me a Zebco and a meal worm...

A rather watch a kid catch that than catch one myself.
Beautiful fish! Congratulations and wish you many more big fish in your future!

Check out the musky this guy John Grover caught in Green Bay fishing for walleye. You might not like his jacket...
I know a girl she got a 48 incher on a night crawler and bobber off a dock.
Earl Yetman that’s how it always happens 😭
I was fishing for bluegill and caught my pb largemouth of 6.4 lbs....4lb test, small hook.
It does my heart good when I hear good news instead of the usual negative stories. Im happy for her. :)
Here 12 years later
Well done/caught Sarah!;
Always great to see the girls and ladies involved in Angling!

Catch another big'un!
That mount is absolutely incredible to see. Great job sarah!
That's the memory of a lifetime. Cherish it.
Great job! Great to see something nice in the news! Makes my day! 😂❤
I'm in WI also, I'm 27 and YET have to catch me a nice musky. Congratulations to this girl, that is AWESOME!!! and I am very jealous :)
That's a beautiful mount!
Nice fish. I caught a 13-4 brown trout in 1965 and spent the rest of my life till this day trying to get another one near it in size.
Good job young lady... Good job Dad and the rest of the family.
great fish, how do they go about making a mount? replica or use a dead fish?
fusionstar916 usually get a print from a dead fish for the best accuracy.. but there are ways with measurements.
And they can use the pictures to get the details correct.

Nice musky! The biggest fish I've ever caught was a 35" German Brown
Holy crap! What did that weigh???
Love your work and enjoy watching. Saskcatchewan Canada is the capital for giant Muskie btw. Close to 80lbs.
She should be a movie star.

Woohoo for Kentucky!
Great story, lovely young lady.
Congrats on that awesome muskie! Im thinking about taking a vacation next summer to Cave Run Lake.
Girls usually dont fish alot.good thing you decided to fish, you truely deserve it and the record.great job!
I once heard somewhere it takes 10,000 casts for every one Muskie. Great job. Congratulations.
I just love it. Where's the pictures she said.
Great fish Sarah! Congrats from Ontario..come up and see us some time.
The living fish is a hundred times more wonderful. A dead fish is nothing more than a dead fish.
Great story absolutely loved it. And I'd like to say congratulations to the young lady , that's amazing. Now the only problem she has. Is beating her own record 😂
thats what its all about i dont care if i never catch another muskie ,if i can see a child smile like that when catching a big one!
What a great story !
Taxidermied .. great idea! i bet she is very proud every time she is looking at that! .well done.
Awesome!! Well done!! What bait were you using?
So the fish was born the same year as Sarah Terry? WTG Sarah!!!
Wonderful young lady!
We need more people like this
i like how you tried to release it, good job.

@adamkotta888 yep me to
she now has a reminder that the fish died.
Do you have a reminder that the cow you grilled had died?
That's a replica mount. I don't remember hearing that the fish had died.
Catch and release thats the way it needs to be
should have let it go...
She did release it in accordance with the law.
That's a replica mount they were showing.
