WOW,.... STUNNING Pontiac was on top of their game with this one,......I had 2 new irocs back then but I always knew the trans am had much more detailed styling, it was just way above the Camaro.
Absolutely gorgeous I've owned several, 84 trans Am in high school an 87 formula an 89 trans Am in an 89 GTA, never had one with the digital dash though I always thought that was a pretty cool option.
Wow she looks good. I had a 89' black on black leather GTA when I was 19 am 41 now. You know what's crazy that car is still around and alive!. Probably has well over 250xxx miles original motor and all. I drove the snot out of it and so did the previous owner. L98 was a beast of a motor. Mine had no digital dash but had a steering wheel with buttons. Good times.
Owned a Dk Blue 85 TA w/T-Tops ( 1986 in Dallas Tx was stationed at Grand Prairie Naval Air Station) added Enkie wheels/gatorbacks Performance chip, performance urethane sway bar bushings, pulled the tape at bottom of door edge......She was an AMAZING ride that i miss sorely, M n the new wife would drive tops off at nite in Atlanta, its such a beautiful memory...( Got a NEW baby in Atlanta 1991 n needed a family car :) ) Congrats on such a beautiful ride, also watched your video on HP-100s I have a Fischer 500C ive upgraded w/Pioneer CS-520s upgraded w/best amazon 3 way X over ( one ONE speaker) , its NOT bad at all, but after listening to your HPs, im gonna do some homework and adapt the MV audio X-over to mine w/a lile tinkering! :)
My brother bought one new in 87, they were not available from the factory with T tops on the early 87's, yours must have been built late in the model year. Stunning GTA!
The T tops on mine were made by a company called Cars & Concepts. Look them up, they designed excellent products. Unfortunately no longer in business.. times change.
80s car design, especially in the interiors is probably the most interesting in history. The automotive world had a fascination with digital interfaces including speedometers/tachometers but the technology wasn't there yet to make something simple. They all looked so complicated, like you just entered the cockpit of a jetliner.
Nice car! I own a 1990 black like yours but convertible!! 5.7 gta WS6 with 28k+ miles, Enjoy driving only weekends. I be driving to California in two weeks for a paint and top job. Enjoy ur car !!!
NIce. You are lucky to own a 5.7 that had t tops put on. They did not come with t top 350 option until 89. I can tell because of the t top trim on the roof. Not many that have had t tops added. WOW
Correct, mine are tops from Cars & Concepts. I like them better than factory in both design and appearance. To minimize chassis flex, I installed the wonderbar and Alston Racing subframe connectors. I chose the Alstons for their light weight, only 20lbs. The SFCs made a big difference.
Man love your car those are my favorite fuel injection years TPI its a beast unique sound especially with just a catch back and maybe full exhaust sound.
So. Here’s my story right. I’ve got 3 mustangs. 2 paddle shift (no clutch) 1 automatic. I love all of em. But I’ve been wanting a “race car” starter car for so long. I finally convinced my friend to let me get his for 2 grand. It was a steal MAJOR steal and I’m so happy. It has the T5 5 speed same engine as yours and the t tops. Really happy the car is so grumbly and responsive to me when I use it. But do you have ANY helpful tips for this car. I don’t expect any response but any knowledge I can take I can use haha. Going fast in it tho…. Terrifyingly fun
@@oberday yes, I got brand new rubbers from hawks and tightened all the bolts. They are better than the factory tops. Unbelievably I have also recently acquired a very good spare set, so have less worries in case one breaks!
Definitely a beautiful car. Did you add the Trans Am call outs to the bumpers? The GTA has its own badging and the TA callouts weren’t stock from the factory.
It really didn't need much when I bought it but I did replace all the engine sensors, new intake manifold gasket, SFCs added, wonder bar added, replaced the sail speakers. It's a turn key car. That's what I love about these TPI 3rd gens, they're quite reliable.
I drive several days per month, obviously more in the summertime. During the winter, I need dry payment that's clean... I won't drive on roads after a snowplows drop sand, even if the roads are dry. Too risky for rock chips
Ya if you add a supercharger or turbo and fully build the motor....You cant get there naturally aspirated and if you tried it wouldn't be very streetable.
Very nice! Mine is a 305 TPI that looks exactly the same except for the steering wheel (mine's including all the radio control buttons).
IMO the best looking GM car ever made, and among the top 5 from any manufacturer. Great car!!!
Beautiful example. Loved these cars back in the 80’s when I was in high school. Nice to see one in such great condition still.
I had a '91. Wish I still did, though I prefer the looks of this one. Pre-facelift.

You have my dream car with dream combination
This car is absolutely gorgeous! You definitely have a treasure!

Very nice. I bought mine from it's original owner about 14 years ago. Glad to have you in the club. Enjoy!

Put that thing away! It's too nice! haha. Love it. Hope there's one left for me some day.
Gorgeous black GTA you have here!! Absolutely stunning. I have an 88 flame red metallic

Clean trans am man. I had a 88 GTA exactly like it. Them emblem's are gold plated.
Beautiful! 🔥
I have 88 GTA with digital dash. 🙂

Yes. Mine was built at the Norwood, OH plant towards the end of the production run for 1987.
Beautiful car, that paint looks immaculate!

Absolutely true. Tons of buttons everywhere, it looks more sophisticated than it actually is. But it's still really cool even by modern standards.
Great color combo!
All you are missing is the notch back , I had the turbo version of this car
Nice car! I own a 1990 black like yours but convertible!!
5.7 gta WS6 with 28k+ miles,

@@oberday I had weld in frame ties installed on my 85 Trans Am convertible when I had it and it made a huge difference.
@@milesmania1150 agree, weld in is the way to go!
Beautiful car tint those windows bro.
Awesome car!
Beautiful car
That thing is beautiful 😍
A very great Beautiful Car love the 1987 trans am. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤❤.
Absolutely beautiful
Very nice well kept classic...
💯♥️Pontiac Excitement

Never spilled a Jumbo Coke upon a Speedbump in that? Reckless drive somewhere for Papertowels and something? Beautiful car in and exterior. Thanks!

Very nice car!!
Woooow. :)
Beautiful T/A! Wish I could find one like that-never was a fan of the digital dash, though. I prefer the analog gauge cluster
Its really clean and beautiful gta 😍
I’m pretty sure the GTA’s had 235hp
>puts the phone by the exhaust instead of under the hood
absolutely ruined my day
Looking to get one of these but the prices have just inflated so much I can’t justify it. Wondering how much you purchased this for 2 years ago.
Awesome 👌
I had no idea that they had a digital screen for how fast you were going in the 80s
NICE Car❤
Mines an 88 5.7 GTA has the same Cars & Concepts T Top and digital dash.
Are you happy with the tops?

Yes, I did.
Gorgeous.
So much nicer and more interesting than IROC.
Better quality interior materials too.
Beautiful car, have you done any work on it? I have an 87 GTA that I am about to work on to replace the suspension.

Might want to check never did 5.7 GTA and T-Tops til 89
Cars & Concepts
That is incorrect, beginning in 1987 Canadian models had 5.7 and T-tops, some factory t-top cars did leak into the U.S. market.
I would like this car for a knight rider AKA KITT replica very clean trans am...
That would be a waste of a beautiful Pontiac.
@@michaeljordan6008 that maybe but kitt looks so awesome if it's done right....
Wanna sell it?
Beautiful car! I’m in the midwest so I store my car over the winter (Oct-April)
, how many months of the year do you guys drive the classics?
I drive several days per month, obviously more in the summertime. During the winter, I need dry payment that's clean... I won't drive on roads after a snowplows drop sand, even if the roads are dry. Too risky for rock chips
@@oberday Gotcha, is it only sand used in the western states? Or do you also have salt like us?
Anyone know where I can find a new digital dash?
350 with t tops, I think you got robbed, GTA with t tops had a 305...
Cars & Concepts.. Great products in their day.
But it is bone stock. I'd completely redo the exhaust fuel and intake, open it up. Just that you'd probably grab an extra 100hp.
I made some very minor mods but nothing that would impact engine performance. I love it for what it is.
This is a collectors piece at this point. Probably better from a historical and financial standpoint to leave it unmessed with.
@@spazzman90 Meh I'd deff redo the whole exhaust into a full fuel line 3 inch bore with headers...
Greetings from Poland. I have 88 black gta with 305. Make Video of engine :)
That's up next, I'll to both the engine and digital dash at night.
Am very poor and love this kar, plz drive to me and let me have 😊
💀💀
T-tops = 5.0ltr (305ci)
My T tops are not factory. They were installed aftermarket by a company called Cars & Concepts which did great work.
MICHELTFDAKKKJRP😅😊😅😢😂
A 5.700 c.c. engine could easily have 800 horse power.
Ya if you add a supercharger or turbo and fully build the motor....You cant get there naturally aspirated and if you tried it wouldn't be very streetable.
