I remember being told when I was 12 i had a ghost note advantage cos I was a left on a righty kit. World ain’t made for us. Now there’s internet and u can mirror it I guess. I’ll be able to do things righty’s can’t do like they can’t do stuff I do. It’s a bit handicap till you get mir snares and floors on yer other side haha. I can never find a pair of scissors…
A fun variation of this to get a 2nd tone for ghost notes is to hit the underside of the hat. I like to do double ghost notes doing this every other bar or so, that you get a sort of triplet sound that adds some nice variation while not really changing the overall flow of your hands.
Buddy rich played the bass drum with his drum stick when he was super stoked. Joe morello is the best drummer in my opinion doing a long solo in 5/4 and the band comes in totally on the beat!
I have no idea what half the comments in this comment section mean cs I don’t know how to play drums 😭 all I know was I like hitting them and I challenged myself to just hit them without messing up like he did right here for intermediate
@@paragondrums well that’s embarrassing figured you just looked different since you weren’t on stage I sincerely apologize Cam didn’t mean any disrespect
That looks like a lot of effort and learning new sticking patterns. Especially if I'm hitting multiple notes with my left hand, it's easier for me to just not worry about it. I just switch to open handed or move my hihat 🤷♂️. Changing the accent hand when going between open handed took a little learning but it's second nature now.
Ok now imagine yer left handed and playing that right handed kit. Pro I in no time? Jk I can do things u can’t like u can do things I can’t. Lovely groove.
Me too and honestly it translates into lefty playing really well because you just copy his right hand with your left and copy his left with your right.
@@paragondrums Yeah that was my point lol. For me, advanced is a well played and dynamically sound groove, regardless of how busy it is. I mean there's a Four on the Floor and then there's expertly played four on the floor, you know?
It’s scary how you can move those drum sticks faster than my refresh rate (60Hz).
lol - idk about that, but we’re always working on it!
video refresh rate is 30fps though i think
Them Ghosts notes are so good
Thank you mate!!
He's got so much control like wtf
Frrr I was just about to say!

I see them. Sometimes lol
This groove was absolutely insane
Glad you dug it!
@@paragondrums honestly I would listen to it anyday, definitely would go on my playlist

I love using this technique. Great demonstration!
Thanks! Glad you like it!
Yeah this adds a super cool element to a drum fill or solo
Enjoy!
I’ve been playing in the same position five-ever, the way you did it adds great sound and flavor
Thank you!!
@@paragondrums can you clarify what the technique is? I’m a little confused but definitely going to learn this groove
So it is possible, I just need to practice more. Thanks for the video
No problem!
Sounds sick!
Thanks yo!
Can you do a tutorial on the last Groove
It's so nice in my ears
🙏🏼💙
I’ve been doing this for a few years to maximize my laziness.
The intermediate demonstration kinda sounds like the intro to around the fur by deftones
Great band!
Hey could you make a video on how to play that tasty groove at the end
SOOOOOOOO SICK!
Thanks mate!
Buddy rich played the bass drum with his drum stick when he was super stoked. Joe morello is the best drummer in my opinion doing a long solo in 5/4 and the band comes in totally on the beat!
Quick question: what are your favorite sticks to use? I’m trying to find a good pair. Thanks
Clay uses 55a by Vic, Cam uses Firegrain 5A forward by Promark
@@paragondrums Sweet thanks!

Baby steps!
Thats sick
Enjoy!
Yes that is true you did great dude more power i'm drumer too😁✌️
Sounds superb
glad you dig it!
Damn that’s clean man I saw where u lost ur monitors during a live show u kept it moving An stayed in pocket it was epic
This is Cam in the video - you’re referring to Clay, but yeah! Still sick 🤘🏼
@@paragondrums well that’s embarrassing figured you just looked different since you weren’t on stage I sincerely apologize Cam didn’t mean any disrespect
Thanks for the tip man
For sure!

You sound like a machine! You could also hit the under side of the hi hat with the snare hand as well!
Thank you ☺️
Show me where that technique plays into a SONG?
Or a song that has it in it?
What’s the technique called during the advance part?
Hey what are the beads called that you have on the Hi-Hat spindle?
I honestly have no idea… they were a gift
I like it.
🙏🏼💙
Mike Clark´s hihat trick
And heres how a fuckin siiiiick drummer might utilise this technique.
Ok now imagine yer left handed and playing that right handed kit. Pro I in no time? Jk I can do things u can’t like u can do things I can’t. Lovely groove.
Forreal i would have to mirror or something? Killer groove mate keep jammin
Sweeeeeeet!😎👍
Glad you dig it!
Awesome
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome thank you
Can we get a tutorial for the advanced drummer beat
Sure!
@@paragondrums you guys are the best! Can't wait for the chace to order a shirt and support Paragon drums !
Same I need to learn that beat
Ghost notes are key!!
Yup!
Nickel slick….How about for open-hand lefties???
Open handed for the win
Gotta love them iron cobras. 🤘
Yessir!
I like how advanced is just fast. Cuz fast is alwats better right😬
I'm one of those open handed weirdos. Any tips for us?
Me too and honestly it translates into lefty playing really well because you just copy his right hand with your left and copy his left with your right.
You’re not a weirdo! It means that you honestly don’t have to worry about this technique!
Ping ride 8th notes, snare 8th notes, double bass as fast as you can. That's sauce
Different strokes for different folks
so from int to adv goes from 8th on hh to 16th diddles on hh 📝
Lol - obviously more to it than that. Mainly for beginners to hear differences between what they might hear
And I’m over here forever stuck in beginner/intermediate mode
Interesting. Id always use a low hi hat to compensate for the speed loss but this technique could be just as troublesome to stick clicks.
It can be! It’s just an option that a lot of the advanced cats use. Figured we’d break it down.
T4軍事作戦vsバザーリア律法
top! top! top!
Ok. I got it!
YESSSSS
💙
Honestly.. I'm just focus on this amazing ghost note .. 😭😭😭
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏼
🤘
you've done tha before, haven't ya 😐
What if I’m a open handed drummer
Well, then you've already won
Is that a cob snare
Nah - it’s a Tama nickle over brass
Ever notice how advanced always equals ghost notes galore?
It doesn’t have to, but it can
@@paragondrums Yeah that was my point lol. For me, advanced is a well played and dynamically sound groove, regardless of how busy it is. I mean there's a Four on the Floor and then there's expertly played four on the floor, you know?
Anyone else immediately go to the PH intro when he started? Fuck is wrong with me…
Yea because that's what it is... I think
The last beat is what drums sound like when they stutter and have a problem getting to the point.....
I've been doing this for like a month and it's ruined me 🤑I love it so much
It’s great, but we’re biased
Same
Nasty 😯
Enjoy!
Nice marimba
Thanks 😉
That's how i started doing it cuz im lazy.
I wanna see this guy shaved
Hey bro…..you’re good. 👍
Thanks mate 💙
I’m not a drummer but thanks ig
Who is this guy?
This is Cam! @carbonedrums on IG
/TikTok etc.
I'm stuck on intermediate forever.
Is it really that hard to move your left hand over bro?
It’s still an option. But when you’re playing fast, this technique can be easier to utilize.
That snare stick is really chewed up.
😬🪵
hi hat should be on the right side of the drums
ビッグ・エイメン。
Mehh, It's better to do an upstroke and hit the bottom of the hats. That way you can do double and triple strokes
Different strokes for different folks
ワンパターン
Yeah, doesn't work on an electronic drum kit unfortunately
Not wrong, only more efficient...
Agreed.
I have been doing that but you're better at it.
The angle is hard to see how underhand you are going
We’ll try to get a better angle next time!
Or just play open handed like a real g
just play open
Are you recording out of a potato
Never had rhis cross my mund its fast wow ok . Speed isnt what drumming is
Hope it helps!
Yo
😂
Lol i use this technic for 20 years
How about a noob drumer haaaa? 😑
It’s still possible! Takes practice regardless
Hmmmmmmm
Sus drum beat....
I get it in theory, however this is useless if you need both notes on the hi hats played at the same texture and dynamic level.
Or you can learn to play the hat with your left like a good drummer would.
Awesome
Thanks mate 🙏🏼
Sweeeeeet ❤
