I too was surprised at how many people passed him by, but I shouldn't be. Sadly, people's perceptions can be quite limiting. This young man's exceptional talents are almost invisible to those around him, not only because of the noisy, busy environment, but more importantly, because people ASSume that just because someone is performing on the street, they aren't worthy. However... If this same kid had his own television show, movie or a hit song, people would think how lucky he was, or he had connections, or was an overnight sensation. The years of hard work, practice, dedication and sweat aren't noticed or appreciated as much because he's a street performer. It's all perception. For example... Two identical shirts for sale in the same store. One's $19.95, and the other's $275. Most people (foolishly) would believe that the more expensive one is better. He's doing what he has to do to survive, and is SUPREMELY talented. But most people will fail to give him the recognition he deserves due to the limiting factors of perception.

All I gotta say is the best part of this downtown area is the drumming and the drummer. Truly awesome. Around him I see self-absorbed drones, going about their inane or meaningful nonsense.
