    Ha ha ha! I should have watched this video 6 months ago! My daughter-in-law asked me if I could do a macrame hanging for their wedding this fall. Of course I said, "Sure!" because I would do anything for my kids. I purchased all the supplies and spent 5 hours cutting cord lengths prior to digging in, and upon starting the project (which once completed will be around 7' wide x 7' tall) realized I got myself in waaaay over my head as I've never done macrame in my life! I didn't know anything about it! Didn't know there were so many different knots or whatever. I'm getting there though! I did hit a point where I had to pull out two hours of work! I'm halfway done and feeling pretty darned proud of myself. There are a few errors but hey! I'm not perfect! Another week or two and I should be done. Thank you for your videos. I used them to learn about cord types, knots etc...

      😄😄 well...I think it's great that you see it that way and are proud of the progress you've made instead of giving up once you realized that this was going to be challenging. Good luck with the rest of the work and I hope you will get that great sense of satisfaction at the end 😉

    As a beginner, here are a few tips :
    * T-shirt yarn can be used, you can cut up your old t-shirts !
    * I use window grills instead of a clothing rack, but make sure that there is ceiling above the window or close the window, so as to protect it a lil better from rainfall or outside weather ...
    * For a yarn/cord dispenser, I use my old cd box ...
    * If your a beginner who wants to do Advanced macrame project make sure you have a clear completed tutorial to follow, and excuse yourself of a few mistakes .. as untieing knots can be frustrating and we don't want to be put off from macrame art itself !
    Great vedio ! 👍

      Thank you for sharing all those great tips! 😊 T-shirt yarn is something I have on my list to try as well…

    I would recommend starting with a small piece. You'll be finished faster, it won't be as overwhelming as a big piece and you will also need less cost so it will be cheaper. That's how I started and then I tackled project after project and learned from each one! :)

      Yep, definitely agree. I don’t want to discourage people from doing big projects right away but my recommendation would be the same as yours 😉

    Do you use Bobbiny exclusively to purchase your cord? I am in Alaska (where shipping costs can be brutal), and although I have just started doing macrame, I can get natural colored 5mm cord from Amazon for half the price that it's listed for on the Bobbiny website. I do love the colors on Bobbiny, though. How does one go about purchasing the color swatch examples?

      I buy the Bobbiny cords from a local Czech reseller, I don't buy them directly from their website. You can try looking on Etsy, I have seen Bobbiny cord sellers there before and they might have better prices for shipping than from the official website...They do have great colors and all the different types and sizes 🙂 I would suggest the same thing for their color palette. They have an online version for download on their website but I am not sure how helpful that would be shop.bobbiny.com/en/color-card/8716-karta-kolorystyczna.html

    This is all really good advice! I practiced the basic knots on small pieces first, like xmas ornaments, keychains and bracelets. Once I mastered them, I started on a larger symmetrical piece (a smaller version of this one from uzliky: ua-cam.com/video/y3a6qjxKBTA/v-deo.html) and it was a lot tougher for me to get all the knots even. One little mistake really breaks the symmetry of the piece, so I had to slow down and be very careful and that took time. It came out great though and I have a piece that was very satisfying to make and I love looking at it every day!

      Glad you liked my tips 🙂 And I am very happy to hear you are satisfied with the piece you've made, usually the more challenging the work is the more satisfaction we get at the end...
