As we begin 2023, we have quite a few exciting cars coming this year, including several new enthusiast and performance options! We attended this year's Chicago Auto Show to see some of the newest vehicles from a variety of manufacturers. The Chicago show is still the largest in America, and some of the highlights include the upcoming C8 Corvette E-Ray, Silverado EV, Ford Mustang Dark Horse, a couple of hypercars like the Lamborghini Countach in the supercar gallery, the Maserati MC20 and more! Those "bullet" shaped things on the hood of the Wildcat concept are a highly stylized representation of the shield style Buick logo. They are the shields that GM has used to identify the brand since 1959. That, in turn, was rooted in the design of the single shield design introduced in 1937, taken from the family crest of the Scottish founder David Dunbar Buick.
Oh wow. That is an interesting history lesson on the Buick brand. Good stuff.
BTW I wish GM would do a remake/ resucitation of the Grand National. That would be splendid

When I was younger I NEVER missed the Chicago auto show. It's been several years since I've attended, always a good time, except for the HORRIBLE tasting and overpriced food.
They’ve improved on the food, still expensive, but at least it tastes good now

No Tesla? Not your fault. The car industry was (still is) very supportive of fuel. The Prius and Leaf were rather toys sporting bumper stickers like "my other car is an Aventador", with very limited range. So, if you see and enjoy electric cars now, it's totally attributable to Elon Musk driving home that reality. But... there is still a lot of bitterness from other manufacturers whose motto was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", forcing them now to keep pace. And, yes, Auto Show is the platform to feature innovations and feel the pulse of public and media response. Tesla has a rather constant finger on that customer desire, and it reflects in their outstanding sales. I don't work for Tesla, but credit is owed. And mega tons of CO2 emissions are spared. *My favorite is the Buick Wildcat. You have the passion and an impressive knowledge Eddie! Thank you so much. Cheers.

General Motors is getting into the Range Anxiety Business. GM is making a HUGE MISTAKE by producing 100% Battery-Powered EVs that only offer a mere 300 or so miles of range (in Ideal conditions) and a more realistic 200 miles of range in cold weather driving conditions. The current level of battery technology is Simply Not Ready for Prime Time for batteries to be the 100% sole power source of an electric vehicle! Until the Next Generation of Batteries become available - Hybrid EVs, which have onboard gasoline engine-powered generators to supplement the current-tech lithium-ion batteries - make so much more sense. Hybrid EVs allow you to take advantage of the existing massive gasoline station infrastructure, where you can quickly fill up your Hybrid EV's gas tank at any convenient gas station along your way and be right back on the road, without having to hunt down a charging station and then having to sit there while you wait for your EV's batteries to charge.
It will take 5 to 8 years for the next generation of batteries to become commercially available, which can deliver 500 to 1,000 miles of range and which can be recharged in minutes instead of hours - and until then, Range-Anxiety-Free Hybrid EVs are the way to go! Are you listening GM???????

EV cars are will never be as good as combustion engine.
They won't be and they are the wrong way to go. They are bad for the environment since they are coal burning. The electricity they use comes from energy plants that burn coal to produce electricity. And the batteries are highly poisonous and unstable, can catch fire. Apts and condos with big parking garages don't want them to park there because of the risk of fire. What happens to the poisonous batteries after 7 years when they don't work anymore. Most people are really stupid and have no idea how bad electric cars are. They were easily brainwashed thinking they were good for the environment when they are actually much worse!

i don't think all cars will go electric. Eventually they will know it's a dumb idea. Hydrogen is much better and safer. There are other ideas that were bought up over the years or inventors killed over their concepts. We all should have cars that get 300 mpg on gasoline. Someone invented a carburator that could do that back in the 80s.
Glad to see a real Auto Show. I went to the Miami International Auto Show and it was the worst ever. Except for VW no European Cars, no Honda, Acura, Mazda,or Mitsubishi. You could walk and see the entire show in 30 minutes. Total Rip Off.

I can't wait until electric cars gets the Budweiser treatment, and some of these companies are going under. Pure electric should never have been the optimum. Hybrid should have always been the optimum solution to avoid the plugin during trips. It's coming, and don't forget I said it.

My favorite has to be Prius. It is a stunningly good looking vehicle. In 20 years it will be looked upon the same way Integras and older Civics are now and will be worth a ton.

The Hyundai Ioniq electric is good. I like Chevy’s electrics. Hummer needs a smaller model.

@@danielrobinson6204 most of the higher end European manufacturers have pulled out of auto shows for years. I don't think they saw the value anymore. For a bit it seemed like the only did NY and LA. I know Mercedes left Detroit auto show pretty early, last time I saw them at an auto show was NYC in 2019

other than the exotics, i thought most of them look about the same. i mean when you look at a Tesla, and then a McLaren of the same price range. The Tesla looks boring. pretty much all of them are starting to look like a bunch of suppositories.
