Watching this again - rest in peace Alyn - you were perhaps the most inspirational for my astro journey - thank you and I wish you clear skies forever.
You know what Alyn? I am in my 60's and used to spend a lot of time in Joshua Tree and other areas in the desert rock climbing. You brought a couple of tears to my eyes with those beautiful pictures. Brought back lots of memories. Thank you very much for doing what you do.
I don't normally care about sponsors in a video, but my goodness mpb is a great site. Can finally get rid of old lens I don't use and get something more for astrophotography!
I love photohraphy and filmography. Never tried astrophotography , getting a deep interest recently but this video is giving me some kind of nostalgic vibes like a hallmark of all the childhood memories of mine .I used to love stars, when I was a child I dreamt of becoming an astronaut,I would always go up to the rooftop of my then house with a mattress and sleep there and start on counting stars until I fall asleep but with time I lose interest in stars. I wouldnt say I lost interest since the thumbnail of this video got me sucked up to the video and I am still in here after 30 minutes which is an emotional testament of the love for stars and sky that I always had and it once again ignited that feeling inside me and yeah you earned a new member in the channel. And also I am starting astrophotography from tomorrow cause your passion and love for stars reignited that motivation, that inspiration ,that will to starting to love In ME once again. I am starting Astrophotography cos' When I see the night sky I just want to dwell in them and feel the presence of every star surrounding me. It gives me so much peace and something tells me that my real home is somewhere there. It's very hard to explain what I feel, but I know for sure that this feeling is very very deep. Thanks Alyn, thank you so much. And great work Alyn. This vlog was amazing. The photos were absolutely stunning. I loved it. Never put down your love for your passion! ❤❤❤🌠🌌
A lot of times, I tend to gravitate more towards cooler colours in astro images, but man, do those warm tones in the milky way ever look amazing against that dusty, rocky landscape. Amazing work as always!
Ah thanks dude! I actually filmed myself talking about you at Cyclops arch but it got cut to keep the vlog short. If you happen to be around Utah in the next 2 weeks let me know!
Really grt video. I live in CA and have been to all those places. But your storytelling around the process of it all was really nice! I could relate to all those things. As the say, it is the journey that makes it so special.
Great video. Can't pick one, they are all unique and excellent in their own right. So many milky shots are done in Utah, so nice to see different locations. Well done.
Not only magical photos Alyn, but also a fantastic video, brought back so many happy memories from Joshua Tree and Death Valley Parks (visited only a day time). Thanks for doing great job, thanks for sharing ❤
So rad to see you in my neck of the woods hitting up my favorite spots. You have done wonders with all of these places. Thank you for the constant years of inspiration.
Incredible astro vlog Alyn! Inspiring as always. This vlog is your best yet! Visiting California is definitely high on my list of places to visit for astro. That and probably visiting Utah. I wouldn't mind going back to Oregon again either. It was a real honor meeting you in-person at the Crater Lake and Oregon Coast workshop Alyn. I learned so much from you! I'll never forget my experience I had there!
This is an extremely inspiring piece of work you've created, the whole thing's production from still shots to vlog is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing your passion with those who might not have the capability to pursue.
I loved the view of Scorpius when you first got to the site where the guy was doing donuts. That would have made a nice shot (after donuts left of course). Thanks for another great video.
Totally agree with what you said in the first 5 mins. Watching your self and nightscapeimages I found that even little old me could take photos of the Milky Way with a DSLR I got hooked! Just a shame I live in such a cloudy place haha
Awesome video Alyn, all this locations are in my must visit list. Can't imagine how hard is to vlog and shoot in the same time! Thanks for sharing, such a pleasure to watch it!
Love it Alyn! Your film making skills keep growing. I appreciate your putting the image and EXIF on the slide. Very helpful. Last trip at Bryce I decided to leave the tracker at camp for 2 nights just to make my life light and simple, and the A7iv modified is completely amazing - even without stacking. Also love your color balancing for the desert. I have some editing to do before submitting for this month photo review!!
Eureka Dunes and Ubehebe Crator would be great spots if/when you get back to Death Valley. Between Lake Tahoe and the Colorado River is some of my most favorite terrain to visit. A camper van definitely is the way to go. There are a lot of areas in Death Valley that would be great for astro photography but are so far from the Hotels / Campgrounds that it's better to have something to spend the night in. Also, end of March beginning of April has a good chance of showers that causes the super blooms.
What a great video and collection of images. The Cactus image is my favourite of the bunch but they’re all amazing. I’m now even more excited to see your book when it arrives. It should be waiting for me in the UK by the time I return from Australia.
Wow that was a whilrwind trip. Great shots! The best way to experience DV is with a Jeep or 4x4 rig camping out. The Racetrack should be your next stop. Saline Valley is epic with the insane wind and salt flats. The best spots are off the tourists beaten path. Especially if you don't want em muckin in your shots. Take 2 weeks at least. That peace, silence and the Mojave vibe can be addictive.
what a fabulous video Alyn, and thank you for sharing an incredible array of images. You certainly looked knackered when you were out on the salt flats but what a way to finish your trip
Awesome video, I've been waiting for your vlog from this trip. Very entertaining as always. Seems like you could use more time to find other "non-iconic" locations out here. Thanks for sharing, I need to order your book.
Thanks from a 77 year old guy it reminds me of 40 years ago when I was in an astronomy club and went out to view the heavens I still get out to take milky way shots I'm planning to go out with my son in a couple of weeks and take some shots at Dee Wright observatory in central Oregon near sisters I'm subscribing to your channel it gives me the little extra push to get out
Wow, really beautiful images Alyn and a very relaxing video, the images with the twisted tree are my favorite, although I would be happy with either one of those images you showed here. Great work and absolutely one of your best videos
All my favorite places! (I live in Northern California) EXCEPT you missed Mono lake and the tufa beds- about two hours north of Bishop. I love Trona, usually camp there in early February before it gets too warm. And the Ancient Bristlecones. And your are right, I have been exploring Death Valley National Park for years, you need to spend more time there. Hope you get back soon. Love your shots
Terrific video Alyn. Your work is exceptional! I immediately related to your walk out onto Badwater Basin in the dark. I was there in January at 4:30am with a group of other shooters and it was still pretty eerie! It certainly would have been more so by yourself. Anyway, thanks for sharing your work and inspiring me in my photographic journey into astro.
Wish I knew what I was doing when I was in Canyonlands, May of last year. I learned a lot from channels like yours so I got the perfect night on Mauna Kea in September and got my first Milky Way shots. For a total beginner, I still look at them in awe. Thank you for all your instruction. I'd like to get to more places to take night shots. Hard in Northeast USA....
Thanks for sharing the vlog, Alyn! Maybe my favorite to date. I grew up in So Cal, where I fell in love with shooting astro landscapes, so this video really took me home. Thanks for letting me experience this vicariously through you.
It is hard to pick up one spot that i like the most, the old trees are so stunning but the death valley are so unreal in the earth. Thank you Alyn to bring me to see the Beauty of the Milky ways ❤
Wow - I can’t find words for it 🤩. Simply amazing and incredible that you processed the shots during the trip. I’m definitely on the fence to visit Death Valley. Looking forward to receiving your book to go deeper into planning 😉
I think you experienced of Totally Silence which i did in night Arizona Desert near Sunset Volcano. That was Absolutely no sound, Wide spreading land, and fantastic dark sky. Thanks for remind and show Great works.
I've been looking forward to this vlog, and for good reason! I enjoyed it thoroughly. Inspires me to go ahead with that next astro trip and at the same time reality checks me that these sleep deprived trips are killing at the same time 😅. Respect for putting out these quality exposures during the whole trip, despite being so tired! Such stunning images!
Great work, Alyn! I've followed you for years from here in Socal and it's great to see you applying your skills and experience to my backyard locations - I'm now inspired to get to those Bristlecone pines to follow your lead!
Hi Alyn! I live in SoCal and I've been to all the spots you shared on your trip. Death Valley is fabulous! You need a week just for it. Trona Pinnacles is great too! Joshua Tree is the closest location for me, love that park. All fabulous locations! Love the astro-mod look in the milkyway. Great work! California milkyway road trips are the best, so many locations and not enough time to cover them all.
Welcome to California. I live in San Diego so I often go out during MW season to get some astro shots. I’ve learned a lot watching your channel. You went to the popular places but there a few lesser known but interesting places in SoCal for astro too. I like your shot with barrel cactus. Looks like you were in the area in March or April since you had to wait for MW at 2am.
What a coincidence. I was at the Alabama Hills for a day hike to the summit of Mt. Whitney yesterday, June 8. I also went to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest to see the Methusaleh Tree, the oldest living tree in the world.
Sensational images Alyn and a fantastic video. Every picture was mind blowing but my favourite was the star trails. You've inspired me once again, thank you.
Loved this video, and some awesome images Alyn. Looks like you enjoyed visiting these iconic locations that inspired your journey. I'm planning something similar when I head to the Elan Valley next month as your Stonehenge vid started my own personal journey, and your other vlogs in deepest darkest Wales fuelled my passion. Keep living your best life buddy 👌
Beautiful images, showing what is possible! I loved the bristlecone pics. Also thank you for the kind words in the video! Excited to order your book and use the teachings in my late summer Astro road trip!
I would love to see you photograph the Milky Way with the moving rocks in the foreground. Rocks with trails and star trails... that would be special! Maybe next time you visit the area.
Great images Alyn! I've never gone to southern CA; hopefully in the future. I've spent time in Southern Utah under amazing skies. The quiet's incredible to experience including hearing the coyotes, and owls
Alyn, another great video, one of your best. Love hearing your thoughts as you stand there and experience the moments, it brings us there. Photos are great as usual! Glad to hear you got to experience some of the best of the west....regards! g
Awesome stuff Alyn! The star trail with the bristlecone pine is my favorite, insanely beautiful! I can't believe I've visited all of those places but didn't know anything about Astro at the time, definitely need to come back.
Watching this again - rest in peace Alyn - you were perhaps the most inspirational for my astro journey - thank you and I wish you clear skies forever.
5:37 you certainly did Alyn, you certainly did. Thank you 🙌🙏❤️

Me too👍🏾

An absolutely stunning video and amazing images Alyn. I loved the twisted tree shot with Milky Way (the 2nd of the 3 was my fav).
Thanks Nigel really apreciate it! Hope your recovery is going smooth this time.

Wow. What a trip. And thank you for sharing it, and for the in-depth descriptions of the pics.
So it’s cool to see you on my side of the pond! Fantastic images is always!
Ah thanks dude! I actually filmed myself talking about you at Cyclops arch but it got cut to keep the vlog short. If you happen to be around Utah in the next 2 weeks let me know!
Beautiful shots. Love the ones at Joshua. Would be a dream to see such clear and unpolluted skies. Thank you for taking us along.
Hopefully he found darker skies down there than Joshua Tree (Bortle 4). Up here in S.E. Oregon we have vast amounts of bortle 1 skies.
Well done.
Great shots, Alyn! I haven't done or watched a lot of astro recently but this just made we wanna go out again!
What a trip! I’d be happy with just one of those shots and you got loads of amazing images. Wow!!!
I'm heading to California to the same place your video was so inspiring, I can not wait.... so excited😊 thanks. Hope you get your gear fixed.
Thanks for sharing - luckily I've been to each of those locations in the last 12 months, was a great refresher!
In regards to the quiet in DV it was the most calming moment of my life, pure silence… bliss
Your vlogs inspired me to lookup into the night skies
This was so enjoyable to watch. I love your channel. Your photos are stunning. Great work Alyn.

Nice job. You got lucky with the skies. It's either clouds, wind or the moon most of the time here in Vegas.
So rad to see you in my neck of the woods hitting up my favorite spots. You have done wonders with all of these places. Thank you for the constant years of inspiration.
I’m absolutely in awe of your photos and so inspired! Thank you.

Wow, I was there about the same time. Love it. We share the same passion.
What a wonderful video! Great locations and techniques = superb shots. Loved 'em all!
Incredible photography, Mr. Wallace!
Love your Skull Rock - I was there on April 6 imaging a horizonal panorama over it in the early hours of the morning, from almost the exact same spot!

One of the best vlog editions! Thank you!
A grea a great place to go in Death Valley is the racetrack but the road there it is pretty rocky and you need good tires to avoid a flat.
It is hard to pick up one spot that i like the most, the old trees are so stunning but the death valley are so unreal in the earth. Thank you Alyn to bring me to see the Beauty of the Milky ways ❤

Two words, TOP VLOG! really really really enjoyed this Alyn. Thanks for all your hard work and excellent videos!
Photos are amazing! Also your video editing is very good, the edits, music, and narrative are perfect. Love it all man!
Outstanding star trails image with the bristle cone pine tree. Hope you go back, California is my home state, lots to see and do.
