This showed up in my feed today. Alyn's videos were a great source of learning when I got into astrophotography a few years ago and continue to be. I think though, that the big lesson for me in this video is to treat every moment like it might be your last chance, "for a very long time". Rest in peace Alyn and thanks for your creativity, teaching, and inspiration.
Hearing you say ‘it’ll be a long time till I get to photograph the southern hemisphere again’ and you passing away, shows how you should enjoy every moment like it’s your last. R.I.P buddy 🌌
I've been missing these adventure vlogs so much man! What a treat this one was 😀. Such a stunning location. Really respect the speed you work at under time pressure at 5000m altitude while also making a vlog and trying to be sociable with the people around you 😅. Love the airglow tbh, makes it extra unique.
I can't believe how fast you work! Two hours and you gathered SO much raw data to work on. I might get one pano while running around like a headless chicken... Your shots are beautiful! And I love seeing the vlogs again :)
My favorite part of this channel is that the intro has by far the best production value in photography youtube....and then the episode name is just the file name.
Dear Alyn, I watched this video again, and this is absolutely amazing. This video must have been very hard for you. I have noticed a trend that most astro photographers are no longer doing timelapses. Even in this video, when you shot the star trails, i think it said that was 790 shots so that could easily be a 15-20 second timelapse video I got inspired by your work and started doing timelapses, but now i am questioning why are so many people giving up on timelapses are those no longer interesting for people or is it unrealistic goal to have a channel of milkyway timelapses
Thanks! The star trail was shot in portrait orientation and also at a super low ISO so the individual images would be dark. The reason I don't do much time-lapse anymore is because they take so long! You have to leave your camera for hours and then process for hours more. I'm already doing photography, UA-cam and all the stuff behind the scenes to run a successful business. So I leave time lapsing to the pros these days, people like Night Lights Films and Timestorm films. Also, they take up a lot of GB and I've spent enough on hard drives as it is!
@@AlynWallace thank you for your response. I am new to this, so completely forgot that startrails would be at lower ISOs. Your work is really inspiring. Thank you for all the knowledge and guidance. I am only in my second Milkyway season and I am honestly asking myself is it a good idea to do timelapses. Wish you well for you channel/ business.
I think all of your shots are amazing. You remind of my son and his artistry. If it's not perfect he doesn't like it, while I am looking at the same creation he made with my jaw on the floor. Your photography is out of this world. Thank you and stay well.
Been missing your astro vlogs so much. Nice to see you back at it. What a cool experience to get back to that observatory and shoot so many images! Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and inspiration ❤
That’s an amazing story - and photographic work. Everyone who thinks living on Mars would be “fun” should spend a month living up there. And if they’re still smiling, 5 years up there. Thanks.
OMG I have no idea how I got lucky enough to get recommended this video tonight, but I'm actually so grateful. I was so bored and sick of scrolling through 1 terrible video after another, and there you were! 3 of my favorite things in the world in 1 video: beautiful photos, good trivia info, and anything pointed at the stars. Thanks!
No idea how you nailed all those images with such a short time limit while also vlogging and having a yarn to old mate at a ridiculous altitude. Amazing spot, unreal to see thr milky way so clearly in video.
RiP Alyn. Your enthusiasm brings tears to my eyes, knowing you lost the chance to be there again to take some more stunning photographs of the beautiful night sky. If there is an afterlife (which I very much doubt) I hope you’re enjoying the darkest skies you can possibly do Cheers, mate
Wow, that star trail at the end was just special!! 👍😍 all the images turned out wonderful. What a treat it must have been to be able to visit such a unique location! Lookin' forward to more of the vlogs! Cheers!
Absolutely, spectacular. What a special place to be granted permission to access. Admire your stamina in such harsh conditions. I love the vertical with the orange and green airglow. Thanks for sharing this experience.
Your comment about previously messing up your star trails photo made me smile. If the really really good astrophotographers like you can occasionally mess up, then there's hope for us amateurs 😅
Alyn, I first watched your astrovlogs from Utah and every since then astrophotography has quite literally changed my perspective on life. I've traveled to all of the national parks in southern utah to shoot astrophotography because of seeing that initial arches video. Thanks for the astrovlogs!
the sky colours are absolutely amazin! love taht splash of green! well done! Thanks for letting us partake. If you ever feel like vlogging about light pollution battle or visiting Germany feel free to stop by! ;)
What an incredible experience that must have been Alyn and that final image was simply stunning, one of many wonderful images in this astrovlog. Thank you for sharing this, it truly was amazing
I know you dont post oftern these days, but when you do... what an adventure! And images! Compliments so Sean too as seems like a great company and a really nice guy.
What an amazing opportunity, Alyn! And your photos are just awesome. 4200 meters in Colorado is about all I can handle. Safe travels, and great sky watching!
I remember the vlog of your first visit. Seems like you went better prepared this time, and with the moonless nights those plans really paid off. Glad you passed the medical to go up again 👍
Great to see a vlog from such a fantastic place! Your images are inspiring and wondrous as always, and it's crazy to see you in the zone like this, working quickly while doing a vlog and chatting amiably with folks. I would have been going nuts. Thanks for this one, Alyn!
This guy is really living the dream life of every astrophotographers. Hatts off to your dedication and efforts alyn you're really doing an outstanding work. Videos like these are totally a blessing to us ❤. And honestly I'm soo jealous of you now 😢 😅😅
I've missed your vlogs Alyn. Top notch work mate! Your star trail photograph at the end = Mindblown🤯 Would love to see another updated video on that process if you could? Looks like you've mastered it. Looks so vibrant, smooth, and better than ever! 👌
That...was....amazing. i just recently subscribed and boy am i glad i did. This video made me remember why im doing astrophotography. As im sure you and all other astrophotographers know, it can be frustrating. But seeingthe beautiful images you took made me remember why its worth it
This was my first time seeing what you do and I was blown away by your talent in capturing the night sky. I was so blown away that I got quite emotional watching this. your passion for this shows in the end result. thank you for sharing this, mate. I am now subscribed to your channel 👍 keep it coming!!
Omg what a sky! And imagine being surrounded by large telescopes while shooting ^_^ Thanks for another wonderful video, Alyn. And I think I'm on Team Pro-airglow, it looks kinda surreal and adds in some cold contrasts to the warmer colours of the Ha in the nebulae - also congratz on the jaw dropping star trail image! Normally I am not that much into star trails since I find they look too artificial in most images, but this one made me say WOW out loud while watching the video. Take care, looking forward to more adventures ^_^

wish we all be able to visit the Southern Hemisphere at least once in our life time to enjoy that marvellous part of the sky

Haha it can be quite the juggling act hey :) Thanks dude.

yeah it's like all the years he was doing the craziest work culminated right into those 2 hours. i think he absolutely smashed it.
Under our eyes, from the beginning till now, he has become a quite successful Pro ❤️👍
My favorite part of this channel is that the intro has by far the best production value in photography youtube....and then the episode name is just the file name.
That LMG shot at the end is probably my favorite astroscape shots i've ever seen!
Well done! 👏

Brilliant work Alyn. Certainly worth all your hard effort to get up there. What a great opportunity you had. Loved the images mate.
In an interview Daniel Craig said that was one of the most beautiful places he ever visited. They filmed a part of Quantum of Solace there.
