I think the most beautiful part of this game was only realized by the people that stuck around in that world. I remember trying not to die throughout the beginning (really the whole thing) to these insane creatures that could kill you in a second; but then, it clicked, i think somewhere around Darkbeast Paarl, that we're the hunter. And that attitude shift of walking into a boss room, not to survive, but to destroy. That's the coolest part of the game to me. That WE, the players, were the most dynamic characters in the game. WE became the hunters, when we all started out feeling like the prey.
hence why for most bosses it says, "PREY SLAUGHTERED" when you kill them
CapnNemo it clicked for me when i poped the disk in and the game told me i was a hunter. but some people catch on faster than others.
I remember my first time playing. No experience with any Souls games, never watched a let's play, just heard it was hard and thought it looked cool. Took me...hours. Just to get to the first shortcut. Every boss felt like being trapped in a closet with a cereal killer, armed with only a butter knife. I think it clicked for me when I killed Gascoigne though. All of these souls games totally change when you start having a mindset that you're in control.
I'm a slow person. Took me until the boss before Mergo. Mensis I believe his name is

What's funny: some of the cutscenes were longer than the fights
I'm 46 years old. The whole game mechanics is damned hard for me to understand. Gave it up like 6 or 7 times. Always came back. Asked for help to get Father Gascogne. Killed the Cleric beast alone, needed the weapons you can buy after killing it. Then I started leveling. The game scares the shut out of me. The shadows, the traps, the enemies that come up from behind, the ones you've never seen and kill you when you are full of Echoes. I can't give it up though. I'm going for the Bloodthirsty Beast, with the help of the npc, the one we can summon to help us, the one that prays. .i had to level a lot and practice a lot and still I sometimes forget what I'm playing and get killed. I was a heavy Diablo player, mash button type, this... This is whole new dream.
Never give up. The moment you finally kill them is amazing.
Best game ever. Now I think I'll get DS3 and play them at the same time to see how different they are.
lol .. I'm on the character creation screen of DS3 ... obsessing about how my character looks lol. First time I played BB ... it took me like 10/12 hours or so to even see the first boss. Those werewolves kept killing me (had no idea you can just run past them lol) .. but after the first boss it all made so much more sense and was so much easier. I defeated nearly every boss first try. It's sometimes a good idea to farm a bit if you feel like you are underpowered ..
That said .. I'm that guy that is obsessed with my build and stats ... I honestly have had DS3 in my PS4, ready to play for 8 fucking hours now .. and I'm still at my character creation because I can't decided on what type of build I want etc
A few months back I wanted to show BB to a friend of mine, I put it in his PS4 and in 20 min or so defeated the first boss lol .. Not only had I gotten insanely good with the mechanics of the game (despite not having played for months) I also knew exactly where to go, what to do etc :D
Also, you're way past that point but I remember that I leveled before even seeing the first boss. I found that thing that gives you 5 insight (you can find it in the sewers) because I went on exploring after dying like 10 times to the WAY too OP werewolves not realizing I could run past them and hide in the building lol.
Enemies are almost always on the same spot etc .. once you know the level it's all much easier.
Agree! U need to know your enemy well to win. So damned hard. Never ever in 35 years gaming faced something so hard. But worth it. Totally.
Well, it's not the same 37 and 46 :) it's similar, but not the same. The good news is I'm about to kill the blood thirsty beast and Vicar Amelia :D
***** It's his first souls type game ... the first one is always the hardest one, esp BB which is very fast paced etc.
After that it's like riding a bike .. you can't really forget it lol .. playing DS3 atm, and it's by far the easiest soul game I've ever played .. not because it's necessarily easier .. but because I've become so familiar with the mechanics, combat, leveling etc. I don't waste points in useless stats, make a decent build, use the right weapons with the right upgrades, fight using the right tactics for every enemy etc.
I've just murdered Paarl, BLood Beast, Vicar Amelia, The witches and The Shadows. Of these I used help, wherever available and just went straight to the animals and killed them with like 12, 14 blows of Kirkhammer. I'm now 64 level killing all I need.

+SPERDER MERN pvp. majority of those who play soulsborne games will play pvp, and stop at a reasonable level for diversity and balance, while this guy just went full on max level with op weapons and runes and recorded himself killing all the bosses on max difficulty really fast (which anybody could do at that riducously high of a level) and got 1m views for it.
to each there own i suppose but in my opinion i think if from software put the option to grind for 100 hours to make the rest of the game super easy then its a viable play style that shouldn't be criticized

Rom, the Vacuous Spider, is probably one of the hardest fights in the game. Over in like 10 seconds. Wow.

There are 2 strategies for boss fights:
1. Beasting bosses like this guy (Knowing what you are doing)
2. Panic fighting (what I do)

I usually do a bit of both myself... half knowing what I'm doing, half panic mode when I get down to about half health... hey just cuz I know what I'm doing doesnt mean I'm untouchable and/or invincible.
Imo, I do not understand why people get mad at these videos, I mean sure we all have our own opinions and that's okay, but is there any reason to rage over how someone chooses to play the video game that they most likely bought with their own money?

When he is obviously hundreds of levels above what the community considers a difficulty cap, and cheesing(exploiting glitches), and he's known to use the easiest builds in the games. Ian Tsang Visceral attack damage is calculated with level, right hand weapon blood gems and buffs. With and extremely high level and 18+ rarity cursed blood gems (buffs don't add much damage), one can do extreme damage with Viceral attacks. I myself have done 5.4K with one and almost 3K regularly.

Remember your first parry against a boss! It was so fulfilling. That is what makes these "Souls" games so appealing. The tremendous self gratifying feeling in the little things, because it took so much time in perfecting your play.

It's just weird because my stats are 99 health, 99 strength, 90 skill, 48 blood tinge weapon and pistol are both at +10 with really nice gems on them and I still don't get close to doing that kind of damage. My guess is that he's got his blood tinge up as high as it goes and he's also using all three Claw runes. Still, pretty ridiculous
Michael H Those are pretty high stats. :O But yeah, his bloodtinge is super high - you can see it when he shoots things. He's doing ~1k damage each shot.
+Amanda Greene also, he is using all three Clawmark runes. So he basically has 60% higher visceral attack overall. I just found the third Clawmark rune this morning and it certainly makes a huge difference.

The quality of the video is far beyond what I've seen so far (the encoding I mean). Many records in 1440p and yet it's not as crystal clear as this. And of course the gameplay is amazing! EDIT: Though from watching this I wonder if dupping glitches were involved in that run? Or just regular farming? Or neither perharps?

As somebody who has most of the souls games platinum (truly gotten gud) I have to say there's a difference between dedicating a fuckload of time to maxing your stats out and gitting gud

I just wanted to chime in and say, your gameplay is LEGENDARY, dare I say, even GODLY! Congrats! Can you show me how to beat the Chalice Dungeon (Lowest Level) Boss "Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos" solo? I am at the ppart of the game that I have literally been stuck at for what seems to be 1 full year now at this point. I have been doing Chalice Dungeon after Chalice Dungeon, and have not had much of a difficult time, in fact it was fun to a point. Now I cannot recall which Chalice Dungeon I am on, it's been a few months since I even tried, but it is one of the more lethal ones, might even be one of the last ones with lightning poping up all around and a lot of mist. I recently beat a Celestrial Emmissary in there, and I am at the final boss of this Chalice Dungeon, and of course it's this damn Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, and she is eating me for LUNCH!
I try all the tactics that worked before in the regular game, and what used to work before, no longer work now. I cannot even knock her dizzy to pull off a deadly Visceral Attack on her, and I do use the combination of many different weapons that used to work, and I tried the bone marrow on my rocket launcher and that does NOTHING to her, its like a complete nightmare, and I KNOW that I can call a friend to help me out, and I can probably beat her that way, as solo I can sometimes her her 3/4th the way down, or a little more before running out of Estus Flasks (or Blood Flasks, whatever they are called now), and then she one shots me with a laser or something and it's GameOver. I just hope to beat her SOLO like I did with ALL the other bosses so far, so I don't feel like I am cheating by asking for a friend to help me beat her up. Can you please tell me what works BEST on her, takes off the most damage the fastest, can knock her dizzy for a while long enough to do a Visceral Attack, and take off most of her health bar? Also, please tell me what neat little items are you useing to boost your health or boost your attacks etc...

I've probably seen numerous vids of fights against Blood-Starved Beast but didnt realize until just recently that's not a cloth veil over its head but the peeled skin from its back.

I already thanks if you take me that doubts, cause at lv 185 (without ng and with 50 skill and 43 strenght), my sawcleaver +10 is inflicting 585 dmg.

This is NG+7? i thought id get to see some of the bosses attacks from a drawn out fight... this was a crock of no poise bullshit a portion of the bosses never even retaliate. I know the parry system in this game makes u play a lot with it and do some huge damage, but you wouldn't think that zerging down NG+7 bosses would be possible. Gwyn and Artorias would shit on any of these bosses lol
i really dont see why u bothered linking, power within + crown of dusk + red tearstone... congrats on ur original idea. gwyn is obviously notoriously easy to parry however you cant flail around at him with ur pistol hoping for the parry animation, you even used painting guardian sword so u have more parry frames. The same with the artorias fight, wooo u have abyss magic with every buff in the game? congrats, you aren't poise locking 40% of boss from doing any animations while just spamming light attacks. i never said it wasn't possible to cheese down a souls boss but showing that u can kill them with tearstone + power combo as a counterpoint doesn't really say anything
