Thing is, he doesn't mean go to the back post and stay locked at the back post until the shot is hit, he means to not overextend yourself. Keep your momentum up, collect a few pads and boom you've gotten the save.
So happy you explained what true mechanics are. I have this argument all the time with people. I'm a 1600-1700 gc player, and I play a very simple game. I can attest to all the folks out there trying to get to GC: it requires nothing fancy. I can hit the flashy stuff, but I rarely go for it. You won't find too many clips in my saved replays. I'm super grounded when I have the option, and most of goals are just the result of being in the right place at the right time and playing smart and consistent. To me, it's the best way to play rocket league. The players I look up to are players like Kaydop and Leth. It's the play style of doing everything right and nothing more. Great videos man, glad to see you're getting some recognition.
Coming in late here, but it's exceptional to hear this! I'm 1450ish mmr and I play the exact same style. It's good to see other players keeping things simple and precise. No need to be fancy, just get the job done.

ABSOLUTELY! Just hit GC for the first time two weeks back and I play almost exclusively with chat off now. The game feels so different. From less little moments during a play where someone puts a message in quick chat and I glance up at it to not feeling embarrassed every time I miss a hit. Literally, with chat on, I lived in fear of missing a hit and watching my teammates tilt and then we lose. Now it's not even a consideration. Does it happen? Sure. But I'm not playing in fear of it, which makes it happen less.
@@alexanthony1168 i love toxicity, I play like a new person when someone says something. Especially when I am down a couple goals, it hurts them more when I take the 5 goal lead away from them after they drop the comment.

The ‘consistency’ is actually a true thing. I was stuck in c3 for the longest time, just cause I kept playing and kept playing. Now, I’ve been a GC since season 6, and taking short breaks between playing helpt me stay consistent and not making stupid mistakes. Normally I play 2-3 games, then a 10min break (not even free training) and then start playing another 2-3 games etc.
As a C3 hovering around div 2-3 I can vouch for the “small mistakes being punished”. 90% of the time a match is lost because of 1 player being positioned a little to far from net and a boomer rips the net. Then 3 minutes of back and forth before the match ending 2-1
proxi in champ 1 it’s either something like that or a minor mechanical mistake, we haven’t quite mastered defensive reads and clears yet but what u describe happens o so often
The difference between all of the champ ranks is insane. He could have done them as their own category. You start to see it in low diamond vs diamond 3
As a Champ 2, this made me happy to see that even at GC back post was still the Achilles heel 😂 I'm always beating myself up whenever I get scored on for not being back post and my buddies don't get why. It's such an easy thing to do, that's why it's so frustrating to get scored on like that because you just feel stupid 😂
No one: Wayton: Go back post stupid. For real though that is such a useful tip that helped me. After seeing your other video on decision making, ive gone from gold 3 to plat 3 in about a week
Good job my guy, keep grinding. Ik the feeling lol, just wait until you get to high diamond/low champ, no matter how much you rotate back post your teammates will get toxic and throw about half the games you play lmao
The good ole days of being able to improve quick because of simple fixes. After champ, it's all being consistent and correct decision making... and teammates.
4:22 That is the best definition of Gold Rank's mistakes there. I am myself guilty of overcommitting and mechanical mistakes, but the fact of knowing where your teammates are, and what to do next really needs to set in, and that is what makes ranking up from Gold so hard.
Im not kidding with this, yesterday and maybe 1 hour ago i was d3 div 1 and then i went on a win streak keeping what he said in mind and i got to champ. im very thankful for his tips as they really worked for me! love your vids man keep it up
Arlos speed is something that kind of comes naturally in mid-champ. I’d work on it before, but if you’re the fastest in diamond/some champ games you’ll soon be slow again around c2/c3 because dudes are just nutty with their positioning
@@KalkaraFTW Well I felt like I was the fastest in Plat but feel on the slower side in diamond. So yeah I know that feeling. Also what I do need to work on since it will also improve my speed are my recoveries.

Idea for the video: make a video about the training packs that affect the basic mechanics(aerials, flicks, etc.) show some shots in them, explain why this mechanics should be practiced well, leave the codes for this list of packs in the description.
This was incredibly helpful. Right when you said what my rank needed to do to rank up, I agreed "yup, that's my issue." I didn't see it till then. Your explanation of getting better mechanics was on point and exactly what I needed to hear. Now I know what to grind. Great vid deserves a sub.

Imagine if we had videos like this 3 years ago when a lot of us started playing... Felt like it took months to get through silver and challenger ranks. With these tips I feel like I could do it in a few weeks now.
I'm a Silver III and have had the game for over 2 years. I know how to half-flip, and am starting to understand the use of fast aerials and how to do them. I still can't seem to make it to Gold, but by watching this video and looking at the Golds, I can see now that I need to look less at the ball all the time and look at my team-mates/opponents. Thanks for this, it's really helping me.
Lol ur blowing up! And u got all these other popular rl youtubers commenting on your videos. Nice work man, I can tell this video had a lot of effort put in!
This statistical analysis is seriously an amazing way to teach these kinds of things to me. I'm pretty bad compared to my friends but instead of getting advice from friends, this video helps me reflect on how I actually play the game, and helped me finally hit Diamond. It's not impressive to most, but for me it's everything. I actually feel like I'm getting better from this.
It's good to see this type of video now. Updated with all the new mechanics and playstyles that have come to the game over the course of its existence. I'm not saying that neatmike's 70+ tip video is outdated, it just needed a refresher and this video is that. Thank you!
Me in front of the ball: "I got it" Team mates leaving our goal empty by *overcommitting* EVERY! FRICKING! TIME! I got used to being the last man in front of our goal compansating two ball chasers. Finally Platinum 2. Thank you for the tips will consider them in the future.
Amazing. After watching this video I was able to glide through diamond and am now on the edge of getting champ 1 in 2v2, all because of boost over ball.
Damn like all great youtubers came here to watch this old as hell topic and all of them left a nice comment. I thought that my your videos are good but now i can see you on in the top 5 rl youtubers. Keep it up!
I started the season, being platinum, then progressively went to the lower ranks of gold. I started watching your videos and started practicing dribbling (still working on it). I am now in the higher ranks in gold, and in a winning streak! Thank you again for your advice!
thanks for telling everyone to go back post also at the end of the video, you said it was all you (err us fans) that made all of your success, and like yea, but you've put so much more work into your videos than you should and it really shows, your content doesn't feel like someone with 100, or 1,000, or 10K, or now 20K subs, it feels like a professional video. the 10K subs UA-camrs to the sunlesskhans of the world are a lot like the champs to the grand champs, champs know how to do everything but GCs just do it better and more consistently. you feel like a GC content creator, your consistency shows in your first video and one minute into the first one I watched I instantly subbed because you knew what you were doing, keep it up.
I think the fact that multiple people have made this video in different ways at various points throughout the last few years is a testament to this game longevity
I'm currently in gold in all categories, almost pushing plat right now. But these vids are helping me hone my mentality of what I need to stay focused on even though my skill game isn't top notch, but mechanics can win over skill, skill shots just come in handy for clutch plays. But good defense and knowing placement and game awareness will take you far.
concise yet thorough, logical and well put together. great vid man, super useful. no doubt this would have been one of those that took 100x time to make than playback. appreciated
I’m here because of quarantine and I am currently stuck in plat in this massive loop. This video actually helped so much, I can’t believe I didn’t watch this earlier
I love these types of vids cuz I keep switching from plat 1 to gold 3 these vids really help and after I watch these I practice whatever it is and I see a huge difference
Seriously, i watched a ton of videos on RL guides but this is by far the BEST one i've ever watched. Really man, I rarely sub or like but take my sub, my like, well deserved. I love your way of explaining things
I gave up RL last year, because I fell dumb playing and losing every time. But now, I make a team with some friends and we are REALLY studying your videos and being on back post. Thank you
I have 300 hours in this game Champ 2. I play about 2 hours a day. I dont watch Pro Rocket League. The reason you are not the rank u want is because you more than likely always blame your teammates for your poor play or positioning. If you want to get better at this game you have to put work in. Instead of watching 1 hour of videos do 1 hour of training. Your rank is based of your average skill not the days u are feeling it. The every day good or bad day.
Sabawhite 10 You forgot the people that go watch a tutorial, go into free play until they do it a few times, then think they have it mastered and move on to the next thing. Then later on down the line they can’t figure out why their half flip sometimes tumbles, or they backflip on aerials, and flip under the ball on a flick. 😂
You forget it also has alot to do with natural talent at the game, mindset, and how much this game matches you as a gamer. If that really is your rank then it sounds like you have a lot of natural talent at the game and it suits you. While others like me know they are usually the weakest member of the team and have to really just grind the heck out every little improvement before progress is seen.
@@mrlizard6529 I agree what u somewhat, I agree that some games suit some people mindset ie rocket league is very quick from the time u make one decision another may have to be made which is the optimal play which doesn't suit some people. Whereas league of legends and dota is slow with a long time to adjust your play for the win. I disagree with you on "natural talent" I have the opinion that generally esports had the most even playing field of any sport, soccer your height, weight are all hindering your play at any level. I believe that if woman played as much as the top pros in any esport that there would be mixed gender teams everywhere. Imo
yo man, I've seen other UA-camrs grow so fast by producing great content and I can see that here, you're going to be big man, I'm looking forward to it. Love your content.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I'll say it anyway. Passing the ball is usually not that useful IF you are playing without a party member who is ready for passing plays. Most of the time it will just end the offensive pressure due to your teamates not being there. You will found much more success in winning matches if you 'get good enough' to the point you are able to score goals with your own effort. With my experience, even at champ3 and GC ranks the solo-queu teamates won't expect most of your passes, not because they are bad but because it's hard to sync rotations in a solo-queu team. So....what I'm trying to say is, you should work on your skillset for scoring solo goals, once you have that base matured you certainly will also have the awareness to see a centered teamate waiting for a pass.
Watch your own replays and look for opportunities that you could have passed. You might find that there aren't very many opportunities to pass or that your teammates just aren't in position to receive a pass. Don't try to force a pass if your teammate isn't ready for it. Just look for situations that other people pass from and try to recognize similar situations in your own games.
João Lima Which part is unpopular? I think its pretty well understood that direct passing plays without comms does not work the way we see it when pros do it. However the solo goals is probably unpopular because its not that effective unless you’re playing well below your true rank. I think the common accepted playstyle to strive for is taking 1 or 2 players out of the game with just faster game speed or flicks, mind games, etc. Thus giving your team an advantageous offensive with a 3v2/3v1, or 2v1 scenario. I’m a C2/C3 in 2’s and 3’s but only a D1 in 1’s, simply because I can’t direct any of my flicks consistently to the goal, or continue my own ball control after beating the 1st person, but I can consistently put the ball in a general area where a teammate can be first to the ball and keep myself in the play to maintain an advantage on offense.
New sub for all the work that went into this. If you consistently upload this level of content you will become huge soon. I've never seen a video like this before.
Not true you need to focus more on yourself and stop blaming teammates. Also, you should learn to take responsibility and adapt to lower skill teammates.

@@branando I saw musty but I didn't feel like I was learning or getting any better or making any better decisions.
What a good video. No sponsorship no bs straight to the point. Great vid
Imagine if we had videos like this 3 years ago when a lot of us started playing... Felt like it took months to get through silver and challenger ranks. With these tips I feel like I could do it in a few weeks now.
prospect, you mean, do you
I'm a Silver III and have had the game for over 2 years.
You're really good at this, deserve way more subs and recognition from the community. Don't stop making these videos man, that was great

It's good to see this type of video now. Updated with all the new mechanics and playstyles that have come to the game over the course of its existence.
I'm not saying that neatmike's 70+ tip video is outdated, it just needed a refresher and this video is that. Thank you!

You seem to be really passionate about this game man and that’s the kind of content creator that makes it. Keep it up man and keep doing what you love
Almost 25k views in under 12 hours too? Yeah man I wanna see you get big! Keep doing what you love!

thanks for telling everyone to go back post
also at the end of the video, you said it was all you (err us fans) that made all of your success, and like yea, but you've put so much more work into your videos than you should and it really shows, your content doesn't feel like someone with 100, or 1,000, or 10K, or now 20K subs, it feels like a professional video. the 10K subs UA-camrs to the sunlesskhans of the world are a lot like the champs to the grand champs, champs know how to do everything but GCs just do it better and more consistently. you feel like a GC content creator, your consistency shows in your first video and one minute into the first one I watched I instantly subbed because you knew what you were doing, keep it up.
Tips for silver and below: play the game and have fun! Try to not rage quit or whatever. Naturally you be ranking up.
And change your buttons straight away!!! Don't start with default controlls!
I think the fact that multiple people have made this video in different ways at various points throughout the last few years is a testament to this game longevity

This Channel is popping of for a reason.
First video I've seen from you but the quality and the nice voice were worth a like.
me, a casual, just sitting here trying to figure out what Back Post even means.
It means BACK POSSSSTTT
I'm currently in gold in all categories, almost pushing plat right now. But these vids are helping me hone my mentality of what I need to stay focused on even though my skill game isn't top notch, but mechanics can win over skill, skill shots just come in handy for clutch plays. But good defense and knowing placement and game awareness will take you far.
I started doing that back post thing and I got to diamond from doing it
concise yet thorough, logical and well put together. great vid man, super useful. no doubt this would have been one of those that took 100x time to make than playback. appreciated
never agreed more with a RL video
I’m here because of quarantine and I am currently stuck in plat in this massive loop. This video actually helped so much, I can’t believe I didn’t watch this earlier

Would hesitation go into the slow play category? Cause I notice that I hesitate a lot
Really nice editing. I have a feeling that u r gonna be the next big rocket league youtube channel. Keep it up!
Is very good guide recomended
I love these kinds of videos: informative, research-based, funny, to the point, neat, concise. 15/10
Do u have any tips for if I’m usually the one with the ball as I usually play ones and I find it hard to remember to pass and about my teammates
Pass... Work on memory exercises... Don't forget about your teammates...
What an spectacular video, THIS is needed in a lot more games!
Like in Age 2 DE or every new high competitive game! Great work!
