I've had 4 great memories in my life, the day i married my wife, the births of my two children, and the day I assembled my SawStop. Great choice Jon. The safety feature is worth the cost alone.

It's nice to see a real professional get a really nice tool in the fullness of time. It is a welcome change from the usual "I just started woodworking six months ago and it's time I level my game" gush videos.

They are nice saws. I've been using 5HP version for about 5 years. Other than the start cap blowing out and a few unwarranted brake firings, it has been trouble free. Make sure you have a good dust collector hooked up. If the blade height adjust gets stiff, it is probably the bevel gears inside the cabinet near the front. They collect dust and jam up. Vacuum out the cabinet often. There is no dust collection inside the cabinet, just the shroud around the blade.

Just found this after putting our new industrial sawstop together yesterday- I HOPE you read this because there was a mistake made in your wiring to the saw. The green ground you connected to the center terminal needs to be moved to where the saw's ground is. That center terminal is not grounded to the saw (I took it apart to verify knowing enough to wire a home and how grounds work and to verify it was, in fact grounded which it wasn't) and only noticed on the back of the protective cover, it explicitly says to wire it this way- and to NOT use the center. It may not be a gigantic deal, but when there are as many electrical components inside the saw as there on on ours, I'd prefer to make sure it's all properly grounded.

Me making this video: “I like to start a project like this by ripping open the box and dumping everything out on the ground. This helps when looking for the small and large items small later on that have been scattered all over the room. I never set up a table but almost always leave the package wrapping in the work space so that other pieces cannot get unwrapped and be lost when needed.”

very well executed assembly instructions and cool tips
because of the nature of my projects, I opted for the Harvey-like industrial sliding table saw, 12 inch blade, 4 HP (3000 W), 1 1/4 inch max dado width (32 mm)
but of course the SawStop is the state of the art top notch saw that beats (nearly) every saw on the market in their category, and the safety feature is the winner too

Double-check your electrical. 7:54 I think your ground should be to the green ground in the upper right - NOT to the center terminal. It appears you have no ground path. The center screw is blank, and is where your neutral would be connected to (if you ran 4 wires as it is not used). Refer to SawStop Instruction manual for industrial page 81/ Also it appears you are using a 110 20A plug, rather than a 220 20A. I would recommend a twist-lock 20 Amp plug and receptacle. I ask because I will need to move it from the driveway to my shop with a tractor with front loader forks... it has a max weight of ~500 lbs. I figured if the pallet has a few boxes that can be removed I could meet the weight restriction. Thanks for your help.

ICS 3hp is overall a beefier saw. Thicker cast iron top, more robust steel, stronger belts, bigger bearings, 3 inch larger cast iron table, and just more sturdy. To be honest, a PCS is all you need and more, but an ICS is for those who's OCD for absolute premium tools is insatiable.
The iCS weighs about 250 pounds more than the PCS. That isn't to say the PCS is a light saw by any means. Clocking in at 431 pounds, for the 52 inch T-Glide model, it is a heavy weight amongst saws. With the ICS ranking in at 685 pounds, it is a serious beast to move around.
Consider assembly, stairs, and door openings. For a basement shop, PCS is the way to go...... unless you want a serious struggle with getting the 530 pound motor down the stairs.
To be honest, I'm not sure if the ICS is worth the extra cost or the extra struggle of transit. I don't own one and so cannot attest to its benefits or downfalls.
      Hope this helps.

Congrats on the new saw, Jon! Nice overview of assembly. Did you have any issues at all putting it together? Looks like your extension wings were perfect out of the box. The ones on my PCS had a slight bow front to back - I had to really coerce them into straight and flush. It took the combination of a floor jack and a big rubber mallet to correct. Also had to adjust miter slots to the blade - it was out about 11 thou. Easy enough to correct with the Sawstop though. Curious why you didn't just go with the 5 HP?
