I went to the great wall in 2008 and in 2009 and each time I was just overwhelmed by its vastness and immense construction that made me so insignificant and humble as a human being. Thank you for sharing your awesome video and experience 🙏👍👏
I think that's why western countries cannot comprehend China unless they have lived there and realized how small they really are, physically, culturally, intellectually and historically. Western countries always judged the world around them from their own lens and never think that this is a bigger and different world outside their little bubble.. “井蛙不可语海,夏虫不可语冰”。
Thank you, I recommend seeing the Wall once in your life as it is such an incredible engineering feat that it is hard to get your head around. The first time I went I didn't think I had to take a cable car up!!
Nice, this is a really great section of the Wall. Visited this section of the Wall with my Chinese class. But I was so foggy and rainy, couldn't really see anything. Went back with some friends from Norway, in lovely autumn weather. They were so eager, so we walked very far along the Wall. After a couple of towers, no more tourists. Only us crazy Norwegians 😀
It is a pity your class didn't get to see the splendour of the wall on a clear day as that would help the whole learning experience. Glad you and your friends got to see the wall on a good day and you are right, if you take a walk along the wall the crowds thin out and you can really enjoy the experience. If you are a walker, it is a great activity. ✌️
It would have been cool to see way back then. If you ever get the chance to go back you should as there are better access and facilities now.... and a Toboggan... ❤️
Massive construction size undoubtedly Great Wall of China among the seven construction wonders in the world , massive ,impressive what an amazing historical site to visit !
The wall is an incredible feat of engineering. I think people would struggle to build similar project today even with all of our technological advances.
We didn't get a video either - having too much fun! I loved it and would have gone back just to do the toboggan ride. I prefer the lakeside part of the wall though 🙂
@@don-ricodasilva5205 I might go there in the spring as I fancy the hotel as I have heard good things bout it. I did a video on the red brick art museum are the related?
Great video, friend. Visited the wall twice while in Beijing 2x, once to Juayuguan in the far west. Wonder how the soldiers and workers survived in this God forsaken place. The land is barren.
Thank you Sharon... I think the same, how tough life would have been on the wall, however there was many garrisons and villages that supported life around and across the areas of the wall. but still, a tough life. ✌️
There is a bar on the top of the wall and one of my favourite experiences was having a wee cheeky beer on the wall with my Son and Daughter when they visited China. 👍
Amazing views. I miss the Great Wall. Lived in Beijing for a while and I used to be on the wall almost every weekend. My favorite parts were Jiankou and Panlongshan. Not a fan of the touristic ones
There are some great wild wall areas to visit so you can avoid the tourist wall sections/crowds and see the wall in a more natural way. I have a couple of Great Wall videos where I visited the wild wall. An old one from last year is excellent and another video where I stayed in a local B&B in a village at the wall is also decent to watch if you have the time. ❤️
Still very few people. If anyone thinks that it's because of the cold weather or the time of the year, you're wrong. The Great Wall is usually busy all the year round. It's because of Covid. Next year it will be busy again, unless there's another pandemic. Cheers Iain.
Thanks Robin, this week we are seeing more people now back out on the streets and moving around Beijing but things will take time for people to build up the confidence to go to places like the Wall. 👍
@@ForAllLifesAdventures sure , good thing China is opening now but the flight tickets going up like crazy now 😄 more than double compare to pre pandemic
Yeah, we took them off on the wall as there were so few people around. We did put them back on if we were in a crowded area - there was not many crowded areas.

The first time I went on the wall was the same experience as you, just amazed and I felt insignificant because of how big it actually was. ❤️

I visited the Great Wall in 1990s. It was too crowded. You just told us the best part and best time of the year to visit the Great Wall. Thank you!

It was great fun and old friends meeting up for a day of daftness... it has to be done sometimes.
I have been to this section! Good memories.
It is a great section to experience many different facets of the wall and how it was constructed, not to mention the fun stuff to do!! ✌️

Squirrel was probably hiding from those cats! Thanks for sharing, Happy new year!
The squirrel ran across and then down the wall near the cats so it might have been escaping… it was running down a vertical wall like a ‘Spider-Man’ 👍
