    Wisconsin, USA. If you get some fresh cloves and use stevia (definitely not sugar) to make tea, you’ll probably get some relief from the food poisoning. Can also add ginger. The cloves are anti-microbial. Ginger settles the stomach. Sugar negates the effects; hence the stevia to attenuate the bitterness of the spices.😊

    Using Google to search and translate daily things is OK, but when it comes to topics such as politics, culture, and economy, it is always biased, especially when translating, there will be very big discrepancies, which will change the meaning of the entire sentence. After all, Google is an American company and is loyal to American interests. This is my experience of using Google for more than ten years.

    • @MattandJulia
      @MattandJulia  8 годин тому

      他们应该不是食物中毒,可能重庆的食物太辣太油,会导致他们的胃受到太强烈的刺激,导致消化不良产生呕吐,并且因为太油也会导致腹泻拉稀,我们中国别的城市的人也接受不了四川等一些喜辣重油的饮食习惯,也会腹泻拉肚子,甚至会引起急性肠胃炎,所以我猜他们是因为肠胃受不了过度刺激引起的“食物中毒”的假象

    food tips in china, especially street food - avoid any food that you do not see cooked in front of you. anything premade and just sitting around is just asking for it if you got a weak stomach. also avoid any drinks from street vendors unless it's pure fruit juice you see made as you order. if you just stick to busy looking sit down restaurants you will be fine.

    hot pot is one of the things i miss the most about china. it was absolutely impossible though to go there without a person speaking chinese. there´s so much variety in the broths alone, let alone all the sides you can order to put in them. there´s also non spicy broths for example. so maybe you should see if you can find someone on your journey who takes you, or you wait until you are in bj at the language school. they surely will happily take you there. even my mom talks about hot pot 12 years after we took her ;)

    The headline was a bit misleading with the photo, implying something negative but I am gradually gradually rediscovering your amazing Siberian-Brit sense of irony. Being British I 'get' it but our American cousins would not. Who cares? I have yet to meet an American with any sense of geography either🙃.
    The honesty of your vids is more important than you perhaps realize [I watched a recording of the Transnistria one over and again when in hospital] and you appear to speak openly and behave openly so would say if you were being shadowed or told to stop filming. Hell, that would occur near Porton Down or Fylingdales and don't even think about sailing up Loch Long off the Clyde or camping within 5 miles of GCHQ.
    The parts of China you have shown recently seem to lack men in uniforms, litter, drunks and druggies on city center streets, whereas that is the norm in my 2 countries of the UK and Rep of Ireland. I wonder if the reason is that the people in the Chinese mega-urbs are simply busy enough living their own lives and since moderate wealth percolated down from the urgency of growth after the post-Mao chaos it is a case of contentment and actual locality pride making for self order. Actually, Ping said to Lord Peter Carrington around the time of the Hong Kong handover that policing and opposing over a billion people was impossible and that ideologies had to give way to what people realistically want. Chris Patten (later Lord Patten) was present and and later wrote that Ping's realism combined with Confucianist traditions, which themselves were built on earlier ones going back to the late bronze age, added up to a potentially self-regulating quasi state with a few aristocrats and merchants being figures of plea. Aristotle had drawn upon the 'ways' of Confucius in 'The Laws' but such ideas were not suited to Classical Antiquity in Europe.
    Unwittingly, some city states and loose federations from the renaissance period (notably around Italy) were more Confucian that Catholic but acknowledged the authority of the pope.
    Is there some analog to modern China in this? Or perhaps China has always been just China, despite changing shape and influence many times. The various dynasties of old China do not have the same sense of a time line which we in the west would easily understand since the fall of Rome.
    Your videos show us the physical NOW but imply so much more.
