Pretty sweet puzzle. Love the look of it. The gimmick of the sides being different depending on how you are solving (with or without the extra piece) is really cool.
I Kickstarted this puzzle, it arrived today, I LOVE it so much. Quality is great, nice heavy feel to the metal pieces, acrylic case is great. I've been trying to make this puzzle myself for several years, now I don't need to. ❤👍👌
Wouldn’t have expected the rating as a 3/5, it seems like it can be solved by iteratively checking each piece and each orientation. Very stylish, but not too complicated.
I was thinking the same, especially since in each configuration you only have 3 orientations per piece. No Jack - Dimples Outside, Jack Inside - Flat Finish Outside
That's a very pretty solution. Doesn't have to be difficult to solve, it just has to look good.

It should come in packaging with the center separated.
Perhaps if all the sides of each piece/shape were either textured or all smooth it might make the puzzle more challenging.

It might not be the most challenging, but it certainly is up there in aesthetics. If I'm buying it, I'd rather have a puzzle like this (even if it's "easy") than one of those 3D printed multi-stage escape room boxes that are very challenging, but kind of ugly.

Regarding the "extra" space: it seems to me that the non-flat surfaces mesh together ever so slightly, creating more room. While these surfaces are on the outside (without the jack in the middle) they protrude a bit and look a bit bigger.
I considered that at first, but they are dimpled (spherical indentations), and the extra piece is perfectly smooth. There's no way any of the 7 pieces can mesh together to take up less room.

A small difference on heigth in a big surface makes a great difference on volume.

That's a cool little puzzle.
I was itching to know the whole time if the solution-with-jack was the solution-without-jack with all the pieces swapped diagonally without reorientation. Equivalently, for each axis, split it in half and then swap the two halves without turning them before returning them together.

It looks nice but the sides being different from one solution to another seems to significantly reduce the already quite low difficulty
