I cleaned out my Contacts list on my phone, unsubscribed from unwanted emails, and blocked unwanted text messages. I’m now deep cleaning each room and decluttering and then reorganizing.
I find great food for thought with each video you post. It is so refreshing to view someone who is truly authentic with her delivery. I get tired of the "cutesy" presentations and am motivated by your serious and intentionall demeanor. That is not to say that I don't enjoy your occasionsl "tongue in cheek" offerings. They are prideless! I especially appreciate your approach of "progress, not perfection" and giving ourselves grace when we "fall short". As someone who is a type A personality, I always need to be reminded to accept the gift of each moment as enough, rather than becoming fixated on doing everything perfectly. Kudos on a great channel!
Just a pro tip (as a chef) I noticed in a few videos you use the carving knife to cut up your vegetables. Try buying a chef knife usually 20-25 cm long and about 5-6 cm thick. This will help you cut food with ease. And maybe watch a video on how to use it properly. I really hope that helps you may enjoy cooking more with the correct equipment. I used to do the same before I got trained. Btw: I love all of your videos.
@@ArrowHillCottage It's actually better for your wrists as you don't need any pressure to cut things up, it glides. Keep the tip of the knife down always when slicing and keep your knives sharp and you will never slice yourself like I did many times in the beginning. You will never struggle again and you might love cooking after this small change (I did). :)
This is a wonderful positive message you have shared for the New Year - thanks so much! My reset is by starting with only working on decluttering one room at a time - beginning with my office - this is where I spend most of my time and there is lots of work. I look forward to seeing the progress each day. I love your idea of a VISION Board - this will help to keep me positive in the process of my daily reset.
These ideas for resetting for the New Year were unique and refreshing. You seem like such a calm and thoughtful person and I can tell you are a wonderful mom and homemaker. Thanks for the encouragement. God bless you in 2023.
Thank you so much for this video, ! So many great ideas and I jotted them down, yes all of them, in my journal. I have decided that I would love to try to learn how to paint watercolor. Not a big investment in supplies and lots of how to videos on UA-cam. Something totally new for me. I am also doing the Bible Recap, which I am hoping will give me more insight and understanding of the Bible. Again thank you for your calm demeanor and gracious presence
Happy New Year 2023. Was looking forward to Arrow Hill Cottage's return. I think Minimalism may be a solution for me. I have so much stuff and I feel weighed down by it. I have started really slowly and managed to get a couple of loads to the charity shop already. And I managed to say 'no, thank you' to a Christmas gift. It was hard rejecting someone's choice but it wasn't her only gift to me and she was able to get a refund. So a win win 🙂
My word(s) this year are habitual progress. I want to focus on getting habits in place that actually work towards where I want to go. A lot of habits people say you just have to start don't really work towards my goals all that much, so like your 1 video a week habit, I want to find some things that work toward where I want to go.
Night owl. Lol. Well it’s not the new year and I am late. True to form lol. But we can reset anytime I guess. I think still plugging along with improving my relationship with all things food. I think I’m gonna just be tracking a lot of things. Budgeting. Spending. Eating. Sleeping. Exercising. Noting things like what food we ate and how much was used. What was cooked. How did it go? How often do I wind up thrifting etc. Just record things for now to see what my habits actually are. Then go from there later. I want to get a good idea of actual use (food, cat food etc) vs what I “think” we need, etc. Working also through a self esteem workbook. But mental health studies are always on the table for me. And then just keep looking at things around how I can make my big move out of state eventually. (Don’t want to totally lose sight of that and get too bogged down in all the details of my daily life here).
@@ArrowHillCottage Lol. Thanks. I am starting to see really that “paying more attention” might be most of the battle really. I guess also goes to being more honest with myself. Not just kind of saying things are fine if they’re not fine (habits etc) and also it can stop things like over worrying about things that maybe I thought were problems that really aren’t huge issues for me. Pure facts. Always a good thing to start with I guess. Lol. That process I think also helps you learn to be more objective and have less self judging or self condemning moments. You can just remove any feelings from it for awhile and see the logical facts. And then also you can see what all you do in a day so you won’t call yourself “lazy” or other less than favorable names. 😅😅 Like a lot of sages say. It’s not about how well you do or how much you get done or how far you get. Etc. It’s about how doing helps you “become.” Lol. Something like that. Like if you want to relate to your kid. Helping them fix a bike yourself (as opposed to having a shop fix it) isn’t at all about the bike. It’s about raising a kid and fostering that relationship. So ergo for me, it’s my relationship with myself lol. And at times also it’s about me and God and how I see that relationship also. But idk. Me trying to see God in a more benevolent way and how “robotic obedience” is not what God had in mind for us anyways. Lol. And spiritually speaking idk. When we grow up. When it’s time for God to step back a little and let us exercise our own decision making skills. Perhaps. I would imagine that how natural things go mimics spiritual things. Such as God not wanting all His children to stay in the nursery forever. Lol. Or esp just not the idea of God wanting to be a micromanaging control freak over our lives. Well idk. I’m really trying to comprehend why I’m not so certain about moving there and when and how etc. So I guess it’s best to wait around and let things unfold until my plans are more “sure.” Until I am more certain that this is really what (or where etc) I want and that this is a good idea and to feel solid about all my “how to get there” decisions. Bcuz of course it’s a big deal when you are buying and selling a home, possibly changing your career/job and your entire lifestyle.
I’d like to reset my bedroom but I’m stucked. My printer and pc are there and of course there is a table to put them on cause there is no other place in the house but I don’t like this at all. Also some cleaning stuff like my steam mop and the ironing board are there. I don’t like them there. Help!!!! It should be a pleasant and relaxing space. I sit there watching and looking for a solution but 😢
Have you considered getting some sort of office ‘armoire’? That might allow you to put that equipment behind closed doors when not in use, and also offer a functional place to work. There might even be space for some of your cleaning things! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage thank you SO MUCH for answering and for the great advice! I’ll give a look to this kind of solution. Warm greetings from Italy and a lot of appreciation for your job with this channel ♥️
Way to go! This is definitely an area of weakness for me! I need to be more intentional about printing off photos I love and letting go of the rest! ❤️
In what ways are YOU resetting for the New Year?

Way to go! You’ve got a great start! ❤️
Ha, I'm the opposite; mornings are best, afternoons are horrible. I just survive them! Then back up again in the evening.
Ha Ha! I’m glad that works for you. I am hopeful that some day I will be more of a morning person! ❤️
