can you tell me about the combox retrofit to update on-board cellular technology on my 2013 BMW335is? I think i should do it but am i going to use it - the connectdrive, sos, and other features - is my question? If i go after the visa gift card and have it simply deactivated, will i lose features i'm using or will likely use in the future after realizing i have a feature? still learning about my BMW features but don't want to miss out on the offer of retrofit or visa gift card by not know what I will use and likely not use. Any help appreciated here.
David DaHill if you care about USB-Bluetooth Audio streaming, then the Combox retrofit will be worth it alone.
Its easier then Audi's MMI, i think.

kindly ask why there is no DRL option in this idrive system as it is same goes to mine 2013 F10 model which does not have DRL option in my system.

My I drive has none of the navigation or internet shit, it’s literally limited to the point where it doesn’t even have updates supporte

Gela Tskitishvili yes, but you would need to update the firmware on your CIC unit (the one under the display) and you would also need to purchase a Combox and other associated accessories depending on whether you have a TCU or a MILF2.

Dear kirilltennis, this system is for smart people "ONLY". There's a voice system available when actually driving. So if you think u will be driving and playing around with the idrive, you're mistaken.
jason, can i update my 2007 328i coupe iDrive software to this new one ?
The previous one was called a CCC. This new one is called a CIC. You will need to replace the old navigation computer unit with the new one.

Not sure what you meant by "accessing the office feature" to be able to access my emails on my display in the car. Please elaborate. Also, someone else mentioned that I need to turn on my Bluetooth notification settings. My bluetooth is already paired with my car, however, I still can't receive emails or text messages on my car display. I currently use a Samsung Note 4. Is there anyone out there that knows how to receive emails and text messages on my car display in my new car?
Jason Skolar You need to add your Email account to the car in the office menu. You will also need connected drive service to have access.
Text messages only work with the standard SMS service, whatsapp and such aren't supported yet

@kirilltennis use your steering wheel controls to change the radio station then? Or press the regular radio button on the radio like the rest of the world? the new system is really good, not designed to be used when driving.
i cant believe that the radio does not have serius satellite reception . the US version has it .

I just picked up my brand new 2016 340i and I don't know how to receive text messages from my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 into the iDrive system. Does anyone know how to configure this system so that I can access my text messages, email, facebook notifications, etc.? Thank you
You can read your e-mail from the office feature.
Yes, make sure "show notifications" are turned on your Samsung when you connect via bleutooth. I am not sure if the Samsung has this feature but I know my apple Iphone does. Once you do, you then have to repair the device to enable messaging. TY
Do you know how to do this? I tried playing with these features and I can't get access to my emails or text messages.
Where is the "show notifications" button? When I go to the Bluetooth settings, there is no option stating "show notifications". My Samsung Note 4 is a state of the art telephone! Not sure why it's so difficult to read text messages and emails!

iDrive, I think, was developed by someone who's never driven a car and normally stays in his dark bedroom and plays on his XBox.

If you lock the car, the radio turns off. If you don't lock the door, hit the START button twice; it will turn off. or, just turn off the radio.
When you talk to ur car, can you rename Siri, so it responds to say Barbara?

@kirilltennis As he showed somewhere at 6:55, you can use the voice command system (even when driving - button is on the steering) instead of just playing around with your iDrive. In fact, it's not really that difficult as some BMW drivers already remember the way to go though the system without having to look at the screen much. That is why BMW chose to not have their system in touch-screen...

Yes, I can play music via Bluetooth in the 340i. I just can't seem to be able to view my text messages or email on the main screen.

Yes you can
Go to multimedia then go to external devices and you have two options don't click on any of these options use the controller click the options then you will setup the Bluetooth for call and music.
Connect your phone to your Car via Bluetooth and enjoy your music.

Just bought an X5 today here in Minneapolis and was looking on UA-cam to learn the Idrive system. Of all the videos on UA-cam, I find one from Newmarket Ontario where I went to high school (Sacred Heart Class of '83). The world is getting smaller.
