This has got to be the most impactful moment in the entire Resident Evil series. I mean after this the Raccoon City incident is talked about in nearly every single following Resident Evil game!
Sacrifice one City to destroy the Virus Outbreak and stop it from spreading through the US? I call it an easy decision and lucky it was possible, game or not, if things go bad this way for a city, well, that is how it is done. To kill one person is a tragedy, to kill 10 Million is a statistic as Stalin said, but that is how it is, like it or not, to feel sad for every single one of these people, will make your life pretty miserable.
Yeah but when you think about it was worth it, would you rather attempt to save the remaining survivors and possibly get Infected spreading the virus to the rest of the world or nuke the city and not risk it one bit
Imo, that's what made Raccoon City so great. It wasn't just another setpiece for one game. No, we spent several games in Raccoon City and the areas surrounding it. So when the city was destroyed, at the end of RE3, it actually meant something. I wish that Resident Evil would return to that formula. Start off from scratch, with new protagonists, and give us something similar to Raccoon City. A place, where the next three games can take place in, while a whole new tragedy unfolds. But unfortunately, since everyone seems to hate Ethan (rightfully so), we will probably never see him again. But I really hope that RE8 will expand on the events of RE7.
Desty Nova The story surrounding RE7 was AMAZING imo, but yeah, totally agree with you, chances are, we'll never get to see Ethan again, by the way, have you ever played Half-Life? The first game in the series delivers the same feeling because in the third expansion pack, the whole lab complex is destroyed by one big nuke planted by the Government to shut everyone up.

I guess this is one of the most satisfying endings i have witnessed in a videogame. Back in the day it made me feel RE 1-2-3 was a whole. Including being brief but concise and adding a deus ex machina you're grateful and emotional to accept. Direction of the scene is also great (details like you as spectator seeing Barry's face and knowing its him just before Jill notices, i.e. ) 10/10, no brainer.
"What we do today is not out of fear or hatred, it is done because there is no other way. And it is done in the name of many lives we are failing to save."
You would think that because they were in the air, the chopper would have still got knocked out because of an electro magnetic pulse disabling the electronics on board. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff, but it's one of those things I noticed after watching Broken Arrow and Goldeneye.
EMP's are more of an issue in an airburst nuke. That one appeared to be a ground detonation, however, they were well within range to receive a lethal dose of radiation that would have killed them within minutes/hours after exposure.
You're not gonna absorb a lethal dose of radiation from that. They are plenty far away from ground zero, and quickly moving away, to survive the initial burst of radiation. Anyone close enough to be killed would be wiped out by the blast itself. The radiation sickness that follows a nuclear event results from prolonged exposure to radiation, something Jill doesnt experience. At a 5 miles distance from ground zero, they might receive up to 1 roentgen of radiation; it takes 400 to lethally contaminate the body.
@@longenng4005 I agree but it also comes at a price. Some RC civilians who aren't infected and struggling to survive might've died during the nuclear strike.
