You need a tube UVB light 10.0%. I use reptisun! It’s really good for them. Way better than the small bulbs.

not bashing your comment but you’re very uneducated there. i’ve housed beardies my whole life and 3 of mine are 11, 13, and 15 and all use a small bulb UVB. the longer bulb isn’t need whatsoever.

(Edit) okay now that i checked quickly for fun your yt channel don't get any animals. You knew u were killing your pet on purpose and still didn't do anything about it (yes, you admitted this yourself). That is animal abusing, so please for the sake of those poor innocent animals don't torture any more of them. One is too much already.
i own both of those animals. (Green) iguanas are one of the hardest lizards to keep, they eat alot expensive food (they have strict diet), they are very agressive and territorial. Iguanas might basically snap at any time at you. Their bites and tail whips hurt alot. And they need humidity which might be hard to keep up. Plus handling them is kinda pain because of their long sharp claws. And they need a big terrarium. I don't regret getting an iguana, but she is alot of work and i knew what i got myself into.
Bearded dragons are easier and frendlier. As long as you have big enough terrarium, good uvb and good heat lamp, and diet that has variety + calcium, they should be ok and are very good pets if u just research enough information. This is just a small quick info, there is alot more stuff to know

@@achilleskushim9265 Bearded dragons don’t live in sandy deserts . They live in rocky and dry lands with some dry grass and dead branches on the ground which they climb on to bask under the sun .

Impaction everyone is fear mongering about, a big contributing factor is poor temps, inadequate UVB and not getting the calcium they need. Calcium sand is the big no no

I just wanted to say that they don’t live on bare sand . Dirt and sand mixed together is a great option for a substrate.
I have sand, HOWEVER, 1) it’s only in part of his enclosure and 2) it’s very, very shallow. Also we feed him outside of the enclosure. Yeah that’s all lol

On sand, my dragon had impaction and had to go to the vet who advised using newspaper. Roy is just over 10 years old now and he never eats in his vivarium, I let him run round the room daily where he chases crickets.

I have been feeding him only crickets for almost 5 months and he got more lethargic

Miles Marti my parents adopted one when I was 8 and died when I was 10. It was neglected when we got it and wasn’t in good condition. It was expected to survive for only half a year longer. It was still only half way through its normal life. I miss him so much.

You are ccorrect. Its mainly an issue for feeding because sand cannot be digested/the same as regular food, and lots of pets accidentally get substrate in their mouths. Coconut fiber is best

FIrst of all they literally come from a dessert. Which. spoiler alert, is mostly sand. Unless you visually see your bearded dragon gulping down a mouthful of sand you shouldnt be worried, bc as someone with common sense would guess, a few particles of sand isnt going to compact your beardie lmao
Like it reminds me of the misconception that juvis dont go into brumation. Some dont, some do. Why? Bc its there natural instinct to do it in the wild, regardless of age. Again, people with common sense know this. People use sand, and they're dragons are fine. All the lizard experts in my area, use sand. Im sorrry your bfs sister dragon died to such circumstances, but much like people, not every dragon is the same.

@@kaos5292 wrong ! The sand from Australia is different, mostly like hard clay, rocky powder ish ! It doesn’t stick to the food as much as regular sand. Also most of the food is found on rocks or plants in the wild, very rarely right on the sand. So it reduces a lot the risk for a wild beardy to swallow a lot of sand (sand is not a problem, too much sand is the real deal). However it’s a fact that pet dragons are literally dying from ingesting sand. This guy’s terrarium is wrong for a beardy ! And mine has sand too, imported from Australia, in a semi arid bio active tank ! The top layer is a mix of sand and coconut fiber with lot of rocks, woods, plants ! I put the criquets directly in the tank, the little guy love to hunt all around his place. Very few criquets are being taken from the sand and when it happens, the soil is compact and moist enough to hold it together, and I ve never seen a grain of sand stuck on any criquet. So there is sand and sand ! This sand on the video is wrong ! It will probably kill his pet sooner or later.

@@jarredlionti3683 its sarcasm. the big and small letters together are a sign of mocking, which anyone who decides to use calci sand after so much info has been put out against its use for lizards deserves 1000%. he's literally begging for his boy to die a very painful death from impaction, or at least very expensive vet bigs to fix it, if it can be depending on how bad the ipaction is. i used calci sand years ago before i knew better than to listen to petco, and unfortunately thats exactly what happened with my leopard gecko. unfortunately i found him too late. im sure they had me using the wrong type of heat source too which compounded the problem. the only smart comfort i can take is that it was probably a quick death due to how much i was doing wrong as well. they said to only feed mealworms and crickets, which i did gut load but stil thats not even close to adequate even for a leopard gecko. i wont make the same mistakes with my dragon and im warning everyone i can how terrible those products and stores are.

sand isn’t to good for dragons, when they hunt they could also accidentally swallow the sand and it could cause problems, please do research before getting a dragon (this isn’t just for him it’s for anyone else who is thinking about getting a dragon). just a reminder that dragons also need a healthy selection of salads
