I just bought a 201-2 that is very clean and sews like a dream, I just can't get it to go full speed. The original foot pedal has been replaced and when I step down all the way it doesn't go fast but just steady pace. Got any ideas why?
First, I would oil the entire machine inside. Take off the back round plate. OIl whereever metal meets metal. Take off the nose plate. OIl in there too. Tip the machine back, put oil everywhere metal meets metal. Then run the machine. If it still runs slow, then the motor will need to be serviced. That motor runs on a worm gear. That whole assembly will need to be regreased. Check the carbons and clean the commutator. Hopefully, that will do it. IF not, new motor. Which is a used motor. Cause you cant get new ones. Let me know how it goes!!

what thread do you recommend for this?
@@neemalubin9228 any household thread will work. You know from joanns or Walmart. Personally, I use big spools on an auxiliary stand.
