How did Palpatine Renovate the Jedi Temple?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- When Palpatine took over Coruscant he also began shaping the Senate District into his personal center of power. The Jedi Temple symbolized his greatest victory and the Jedi's biggest defeat. We take a look at how he would transform the Jedi Temple into the Imperial Palace.

Palpatine transforming the Old Jedi Temple into his own Palace is probaby the biggest middle finger he gave to the Order.
That would be an understatement
Hence why he did it.
Goddamnit Sheev
To be fair, I would have done the same
No, that was wearing ceremonial Sith garment to his imperial ascendance....to thunderous applause.
Kind of surprised there isn't a Robot Chicken sketch of Palpatine destroying the Jedi Temple with a wrecking ball before turning it into something silly like a Strip Mall or an Amusement Park.

Totally agree with you on that.

Fun Fact: Not all the Jedi lightsabers were destroyed. I repurposed several into the brand new bidets I installed in the Imperial Palace.

Thank you for this overview -- it's going to be so useful for my fanfic! In my fic, Thrawn brings his wife, Xelarra, with him to the Empire (going back for her after he's accepted into the Imperial Navy). Xelarra is a trained librarian, so Palpatine puts her to work cleaning up the mess Jocasta Nu left behind in the Imperial Palace archives, and her presence ensures Thrawn's loyalty. She's basically kept in a gilded cage by the Emperor -- as she and Thrawn planned. She does this for nine years (secretly gathering all the information Thrawn might find useful) while her husband works his way up through the navy, eventually rising to Chief Librarian when she uncovers some rare Jedi relics and delivers them straight into Palpatine's hands. in 10 BBY, Thrawn takes her to Nirauan, where the two of them build the Hand of Thrawn fortress' archives (as seen in Timothy Zahn's "Visions of the Future"), built in a large part off of the Imperial/Jedi archives, mixed with information Xelarra was able to gather from the Chiss Ascendency.
Anyway, it's very useful to see just what Xelarra will be dealing with during her early years in the Empire.
He renovated it the same way Malgus did in the Old Republic
I smell a new TLC Special, but where are we gonna get enough starships to crash through the front door?
Gotta wonder if there was ever a "MOVE THAT BUS" moment of reveal for Palps and he just breaks down so happy seeing how the renovation transformed his ancient enemies citadel into a new seat of power for his Empire.
And Frank Reynolds is there too.
I like the way this guy analyzes Star Wars. I’m starting to watch this more than Star Wars Theory now.

1:58 "and slowly blind the jedi order"
*shows luminara unduli almost getting blinded*
I always wondered what the Jedi temple was like when Palpatine took over, that's definitely one that probably both should and shouldn't explored
Palpatine needs to start a home renovation business
legend says that some rooms with a painted inscription on the walls''palps was here'' can still be found
Some say he built speeder bikes in the basement of the Jedi temple, all we know is that he is called The Stig.
Jedi: Lets build a jedi temple on a dark nexus
Me (As a Jedi Sentinel): Why just why
If I remember correctly, in the storyboards for the episode where Ahsoka Tano would discover the shrine under the temple, Palpatine would be down there performing a ritual to channel its power, and sensing her intrusion, would attempt to kill her.
Suffice to say, I don't think the Sith Shrine was blinding the Jedi by itself. But Palpatine was using the shrine's connection to the Dark side, and his own power, to blind the Jedi himself.
But let's be real though. If you only heard that the temple was built on top of the shrine to stamp out the dark side nexus, and not the part where the dark side would eventually corrupt the Jedi's connection to the Force, would you have still guessed that the shrine would be what did that?
As an audience, we know that because we already heard or read all about it - unlike the characters in the series. But the Jedi obviously thought it would work, and I like to think it did for a long time before the Sith got to the shrine again and started undoing the Jedi's near-total progress.
But this sort of thing (burying a monument to what your enemy stands for under a monument to what you stand for) has happened countless times in the real world too. I think the best real life parallel is the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul - which actually looks kinda similar to the Jedi Temple. First it was a Christian Church. 1,000 years later, when the Ottoman Empire conquered the city, they converted it into a Muslim Mosque. Now it's a used as a museum.
Dude, I wish my friends were as interested in this stuff as I am. I know theres real life to deal with but I want to enjoy things WITH my friends, not just have my own hobbies..
Know that feeling mate.
You guys would not believe how nice the bathrooms inside the Jedi temple are.
Or, so I’m told. I certainly wouldn’t know anything about the quality of the Jedi’s bathrooms.

Question: Why did Jedi Masters, when their Order was destroyed, go into seclusion and just wait for a new super force user to fall into their lap?
And then only give them a few weeks/months lessons…
Yoda and Luke both did this (Obi-Wan stayed geographically near the possible super Apprentice, without doing anything about him - he could have joined the Empire or been taken out by local hazards), if not for the drop in they would have just died of old age, without passing on their knowledge of the Force.
Which is basically losing with extra steps and a delay.
It makes far more sense to form a underground cell, recruiting and training Force users and teaching them how to shroud from the Force as their first lesson.
Staying mobile on a self sufficient ship also is a useful tactic.
_"I'm going to fight back by growing old at them"_ is not a viable strategy, unless you're sending regular videos to your followers…
IIRC the was a comic or two that described why Owen called obi-wan a wizard and a crazy old man, and if I remember Luke had encountered Obi-Wan a few times before the events of ANH.
As always another brilliant video! Well made and full of knowledge. Thanks guys
I liked it so much better when the Imperial palace was a separate building and the Jedi temple was just an abandoned off-limits ruin.
Funny how you say how the Jedi were blinded as you show a clip of luminara getting temporarily blinded in one eye
Are you gonna make a video about the Palpatine hospital, a.k.a Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center?
I remember in legends while playing the ps2 version of force unleashed game you visit the jedi temple three times.Palpatine didn't renovate the temple instead it was left in it's ruined state, while at the same time the remains of said temple served as a symbol of what happens to those who dare defy the empire.
Later luke used it for the restored jedi order, until it was destroyed during the yuuzhan vong war.

He Really wanted the Sith Shrine
I would love a Star Wars series focused within the walls the Empire and finally showing the Imperial Palace and see what happened to the once great Jedi Temple
He turned it into a galactic dance off arena where senators can dance to classics like I’m Han Solo and hologram girl

Could you please do a deep dive into the Jedi temple of Corascant

The real question is how does darth maul go to the toilet?
Probably same way colostomy patient use the toilet, either that or he has an cybernetic ending to his digestive tract made just for passing waste, as well as artificial kidneys.
Does he even go to the toilet 😂
@@carolineplus4 His heart runs, he has a stomach and some guts, he goes. Everyone with organic parts does. If only you knew the power of the Dark Side
Hey since you asked the point of the Martez sister arc I got you. If you look at the three arcs side by side we have Rex then ahsoka then the two joining together. The first arc was meant to showcase thematically what his brothers meant to Rex. He loved them and would do anything for them making it harder for him to deal with order 66. The second arc is largely meant to show Ahsokas growth and character traits similarly. It places a focus on how terrible life is for the poor people of the galaxy and how the Jedi don’t really defend them. So that in the next arc Ahsoka says coruscant doesn’t need you, the chancellor needs you. The arc demonstrates ahsokas growth away from dogmatism of the the Jedi and instead place a focus on helping people. Was it a good arc absolutely not but it has a purpose
I agree, it definitely has a purpose. But this point could have possibly been made in a cleverer way.
I like your videos. There are a lot of SW and other lore's and some have kind of ''WOW BOOM LOOK AT THIS AND FUNNY JOKE HÖHÖHÖH'' stuff. Chilly, objective, fundamental and funny. Keep going!
the thumbnail when its too small to see the detail: why is he holding a funky-looking pentagon shape?
In Warhammer 40k all of Earth is a massive city like Coruscant and Mt. Everest is basically buried by the Imperial Palace.
I wonder of some of the guys the Jedi remembered in statues were involved in the genocide against the people of the Sith after the Great Hyperspace War, which the Republic with cooperation of the Jedi conducted... The time would be fitting...
I loved you as Glenn in The Walking Dead
Hi guys, just a quick scenario thought, has anyone asked what if Padme hadn't gone to Genonosis and had been on Coruscant at the time of Jar Jar Bink speech.
7:35 *ANGRY GREVIOUS NOISES*
Impressive. Most impressive. :-) I have another video idea - about public transport in the galaxy for regular peeps. Many republic's/empire's ordinary citizens never left their planets. Those who managed to get they their hands on a private space ship (e.g. by cheating/winning in a game of Sabacc, or by building their own ship from scraps, like Trace in Alan's favorite 'Ahsoka's walkabout arc') could use it as a source of income by starting a logistics business. But most regular citizens couldn't afford to own a ship, but they probably still wanted/needed to travel. How did a Twilek who left Ryloth to become a model and an exotic dancer in Coruscant's underbelly go back to Ryloth to visit grandma for Life Day? We have seen Padawan Anakin and Senator Amidala using public transport to travel from Coruscant to Naboo incognito - I would love to know more about republic's public transport options. I wonder which big commercial organisations owned majority shares in commercial spacelines (trade federation? commerce guild? techno union?). How did the clone war affect passenger travel? Hyperlanes have a huge impact on travel and some battles were about control over hyperplanes. It would also be interesting to see how passenger tarvel became restricted in the age of the Empire - I am thinking of Han and Qi'ra trying to escape Corellia on what seemed like some sort of scheduled space liner. I also took a ride on a shuttle piloted by C3-PO in Hollywood Studios back in 2019 (before Galaxy's edge opened) and there are even better passeneger rides in DW now - man, I love rides! Can you make a fun video about transport, Alan?
HELLO, I love these vids
I love your channel
Great question Generation Tech. The answer is, I dewed it.
The point of the Martez sisters arc was to display the extent to which the Jedi had fallen out of favor with the general public.
Just looking at the thumbnail, this video could either be about how the temple now belongs to Palpatine, about how he mined it out, or it has something to do with landmines
Neat video topic :)
“I want walnut cabinets”
The matez sister arc was to show how a lot of people welcomed order66
The Hagia Sophia in Istanbul is a pretty good real life parallel to the Jedi Temple, I think.
It was built nearly 1,500 years ago as a Christian church. Then, 1,000 years later, the Ottoman Turks conquered the city and converted it into an Islamic mosque.
It even looks kind of similar to the Jedi Temple.
Wow, you are right. I wonder if George based it on Hagia Sophia!
@@jellyfish828 Hard to say. It's pretty equally likely that he did, or that he didn't. But I think the idea of the Sith shrine being buried underneath is much more recent, an idea that was had during the making of The Clone Wars.
Great, now do the Legends timeline of this. Please.
Great vid I love this channel
4:03 I never noticed it but it seems like only the human younglings were hidden in the council room?
I love you Allen
I’d just take a seat in the council chambers and go “this is mine now”
I think the point of the martez sisters arc point was to show that the Jedi were playing the job of politics instead of protectors of the galaxy
Damn! Palpatine got style!
He got builders to do it.
I didn't know that Palpatine was a fan of HGTV.
I thought the Martez sister storyline was to show Ahsoka that the Jedi weren't really helping the common folk with their war like she thought they were.

A big giant disco
what did coruscant naturally look like before it became a massive, planet wide city?
I think the point of the Martez sisters arc in clone wars is to show how average citizens in the capital distrusted the jedi. The sisters even said they heard the Jedi started the war, so there could've even have been misinformation in the republic.
That’s actually a good point I also like seeing the undercity a lot
Unrelated but an idea for another video- how do force users learn force powers? In the games they are basically achievements or, as in Old Republic, something you can get from the masters after you rank up. But how would a Jedi obtain ability to perform, say force judgement or a sith perform force lightning?
Palpatine transforming the old jedi temple into imperial palace
3:58 Blame the Jedi Baby snatchers for that.
Don't be a hero, be like the senate
Let's just say he decorated the temple with the heads of all the dead Jedi on wooden sticks, just like the stormtroopers in mandalorian
