What a collection of giants. The Dream Band
Indeed !!!!!
What a theme man
Believe or not, Dave Mason is one of the most unappreciated musicians in music. He can do it all -- timeless songwriting, great vocals, and stellar guitar playing. What's there not to like?
I agree 100%
Wholeheartedly agree. He should be a household name level superstar.
Lucky enough to see him twice in small venues. Always puts on a high quality performance.
I agree 100% he us extremely underated.
My older brother Dan turned me on to Dave in 75! Gets better with age.
(& The Doobies and Sammy & Mick of coarse!)
Okay, it's official....BEST QUARANTINE VIDEO EVER!!!
Soooo, did anybody else get chills? I absolutely loved it!! These guys rocked my generation and they are still killin it!! Just goes to show that you do get better with age. 🥰
Yep i feel it.... what a masterpiece of our generation!
That’s why I’m still playing myself these dudes inspired me then and they still do
I’ve seen all these guys in concert, some twice, and one of them purchased my father’s house…. But I’m not saying who 🤐
@Blaine Bensyl I have seen Dave Mason and Sammy Hagar but have not yet had the privilege of seeing the others. You are incredibly lucky! Dave Mason has some cool stories, I bet. I would love to sit and just chat with him about playing in the 60s with Hendrix and with Traffic. He can play and write so well.
@@rachaelstephens209 I got to see the full lineup of the Doobies this summer, and have seen Fleetwood Mac 2x
Pretty darn good for a bunch of old guys from my generation!
More than pretty good. I got teary eyed watching these icons cookin it up together and I only hope I have the continued opportunity to play my guitar and make music with friends till I'm six feet under. Thanks for this boys.
Nothin old about this!
Fuckin A
Oftentimes I feel embarrassed for old rockers who still want to perform, but these guys sounded fine to me!
Unless you were a drummer for a jazz/rock fusion or heavy metal band (which requires a high degree of athleticism), or a vocalist-retaining musical prowess isn’t difficult into the senior years.
I was however, pretty impressed by Mason’s vocals.
1968 never sounded so good. Thanks to all of you for putting so much joy and love into the world.
The gold record of Electric Ladyland on Dave’s wall is well deserved - his 12 string guitar on Watchtower is iconic!
Dave's 12 string work is Iconic on everything. "We just Disagree", "Every Woman", Especially "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", "The Words", "Bird on the Wind". The list goes on. I'm a sessions musician and have done all of his songs on my channel, and I know his work is impossible to emulate. Especially his work in DADGAD tuning.
mikel stevenson All Along the Watch Tower.Jimi Hendrix version!!
Platinum not gold.
PLATINUM NUM
Actually that's DOUBLE Platinum ...thus the 2 Platinum Albums in the Picture Frame
Dave Mason's voice just gets better with age. Wish Tom Johnston would have had a solo.If it weren't for the old rockers we would have no music to listen to. Thanks guys this video really made me smile.
100% Agree!! Dave's pipes are like a fine wine!
Hair Ha
SKYNYRD survivor her, crashed at 24. Today I'm 69
THIS 54 year young DUDE has this song onmy garage gym pc / jukebox YOUR correct James ! and SAMMY saw him 2 years ago with the circle and Night Ranger here in CT. AWESOME NIGHT
Me too!
Michael McDonalds voice just gets stronger with age
Agree 💯
Hagar & McDonald channeling Cocker
Thanks guys, the world needs it more than ever
This is what REAL talent sounds like.
Best version. Period.
Gentlemen, that was gold! Thoroughly entertained even before my coffee kicked in! Thank you. Thank you ALL for the decades of music.
This made my day.... talent on steroids. PLEEEEEEEASE KEEP THESE VIDEOS COMING... Voices and music of a generation.
Very glad to see John Cowan make it to the BIG TIME with Dave Mason and crew. I meet him many decades ago when was playing in a Yes cover band. Talked with him the night before he was to audition for a Blue Gras Band called New Grass Revival. I questioned the move with his talents. That band went on the play and tour with the likes of Leon Russell and the Grateful Dead. John has done himself proud and this is proof. Oh, Ya...greal get together and vibes for these times.
Nice!
John Cowan plays for The Doobie Brothers these days.
3:20 "Huh!" - classic Sammy right there!
Great song. Dave Mason is under-appreciated. I never realized how great a singer Sammy Hagar is.
Lookin' and soundin' good Dave. Keep it up.
Still sounding great guys! Saw Dave with Hot Tuna last year and they were both great, but I think Dave stole the show in a way! He's a great song writer, singer and guitar player...and this lineup is great! Love the Doobies! Wish Tom could have had a verse! Love Mick! Love Sammy...other than his apparent politics....love everyone!
The Jimmy Hendrix plaque was the first thing I noticed. I love the laid back attitude of all these guys. Nobody tried to take the spotlight but it was on them all equally. Great vid!
LOL Maybe the laid back worked because they were not in the same room. They don't suffer from the Blind Faith Syndrome that way. But yeah, when great musicians jam its the best. No contract lawyers involved.
I’ve seen Mason many times. Once he told a story about being in the US as a young musician when he heard about a young Bob Dylan who was in the UK at the time. Mason flew back to see him perform and was backstage standing next to a black musician when Dylan approached them and they started talking. Dylan said he had a song they could work with. The song...All Along The Watchtower...the black musician, Jimmy Hendrix.
Has the plaque because he played on the album.
*Jimi
James Hudson Thats correct, along with a number of his other Traffic band mates Steve Winwood and Chris Wood. You also had Al Kooper, Brian Jones and Jack Cassidy, among others, making guest appearances.
Great to see Dave singing his song again, and everyone looking good and apparently feeling good. Seem to be channeling Robert Palmer a bit here, too, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Kinda liking Sammy's vocals on this! We need more of these great tunes re-recorded by "super groups".
Sammy was an R&B guy before answering Ronnie Montrose, so no real surprise that he handles it well.
That would be wonderful!
You should check out Sammy's cousin , Ken Tamplin.... Ken can sing and then some
Holy hell! Whatta lineup! The Royalty of 60s / 70s / 80s Rock. I salute you all.
Man, all Aces there. Let's play our best hands these days, guys and gals. Touch the screen of your heart, and smile😘
Everytime I see "Alone Together"
I think of you man!
My brother-in-law bought that album from you after speaking with you at the last show in Mesa Arizona area.
It's still in the plastic He'll never open it.
A Precious Jem.
people would pay A LOT of money to see a concert like this because the music is more heaven than the money ROCK ON DUDES
almost the Ringo All-Star band.
@@sloburnjo or a Rock and Roll HOF jam
Sign me up.
I'd almost forgotten how good music was supposed to sound. Thank You!
Old musicians rock! (and I'm one too).
Gentlemen, like a fine wine you've aged beautifully. Fabulous, talented musicians, a total pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the music.
Agreed. 👍👍😚😚
Don't forget John Cowan on bass from New Grass Revival and The Doobie Brothers!
And my favorite vocalist from the Doobies
@@JPageRocks Listen to John sitting in with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones doing Oh Darling! !
Garrett Brown- Or hear him throw down on I’m Down with NGR.
Johnny C rocks!
Geoff Cowan: He does. He always has. Ever since I first heard “Fly Through the Country....quite a while ago...
Bravo!!,, Now Can We Hear "We Just Disagree",, "Let It Go,, Let It Flow",, "Only You Know And I Know",, "Can't Stop Worrying Can't Stop Loving",, Etc..Etc.
These videos that real artists are doing are the only bright spot in an absolutely miserable friggin year.
Keep em coming please.
AMEN, Brother! Real Music still being played. Great to hear.
Michael McDonald needs to add this to his live repertoire.
That voice, his pipes!
He pick up Midnight Rider. A very welcome addition to his reportoire.
@randall scott burress Mick Fleetwood, of Fleetwood Mac. His facial acrobatics were cracking me up :)
as long as he does not warble/sing
Awesome to see these greats playing along together!
Once again if this was the wakeup call in every Nursing home, they would be healthier and Motivated for the day. I'm elderly and I play this every day!! It makes me so happy and it makes my body move. Bless you guys!!!!😇😇😇😂
Great idea, music is highly therapeutic. I would add to the list of great wake-up songs: New Morning (Bob Dylan), Revolution (Beatles), You Never Can Tell (Chuck Berry), feel-good music that gives you a gentle kick up the ass!
DAMN that made me feel goood! The PIPES these men still have?! Whaaat! MichaelMcDonald’s voice blew me awaaay. Bravo guys!!! This video is a gem.
Saw Michael McDonald a couple years ago in Knoxville, Tn. The vocals are for real. Amazing how well his voice has held up. Bravo indeed!
Know what I love about every...single...one of these quarantine recordings that I have seen so far?
The JOY.
It's a beautiful thing.
so true
Yup!! Check out the robbie Robertson / the Band classic/ THE WEIGHT!!!!
Amazing! Love Mick Fleetwood's faces.
This was great, from an all-star collaboration. Dave Mason remains my favorite rocker -- "the scenery's changed, but my feelings remain". (Dave knows).
Please do more. It was awesome.
I wish they would have added a few lead lyrics fromTom Johnston; that would have been epic! Still loved it though!!
Brilliant Uncle Dave!!! ... absolutely LOVE this!!!!!
Brilliant stuff. Special thanks to mighty multi-instrumentalist John McFee and the great Dave Mason for putting this online & for us to see.
Thanks to Dave and friends. I only wish Dave's great drummer, Rick Jaeger, were still here to be a part of this. Miss you, Rick!
That is some rock royalty right there. Great stuff!
Brings back so many memories.Joe Cocker and Janis Joplin were my first concert.Saw Joe do this with Stevie Wonder.Saw Doobies many times.Saw Doobies do this with Dave.He is my favorite guitarist.I had his first 8 albums, now on CD'S for my car.
Great, love all these artists, you can see Jimi's Ghost in the background overlooking all the proceedings, lol, [Dave Mason did play acoustic on "All Along The Watchtower"], However I feel instead of Sammy singing a bit more after he already has his turn, they should have given Tommy Johnston a turn to sing a bit on his own as well, that's the only criticism,, but overall fantastic bunch of legends!!!!
Incredible keyboard solo & singing by Michael MacDonald
These guys just might have a future in music.
Hahahahaha! Good one!!!😉😉😉👍🎸🎸🎸
😆😆 Best comment!
LMÀO!!!
Great.
Outstanding!! Dave Mason is an amazing guitarist & songwriter!!
Hats off to all the talented artists accompanying him, Amazing job!!!
Mick Fleetwood had me laughing out loud with his facial expressions. Awesome talent. Brings me back to 70s. No better time in music than when there was no limit to what you could bring into music from classical to blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, and any other sound you can imagine!
Nice to feel pure joy right about now... Thanks guys! Cheers
Dave,
You classic rock all stars nailed this. So good to see “my generation” can still belt it out with precision....and to boot none of you are in the same studio. Outstanding production and editing.
Get a look at all those records on the wall! Thank you for so much great music - all of you! Feelin' Alright indeed now! ✌🏻and ❤️
I can feel the fun, guys....
I think you passed the audition guys😊👍❤🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶
P.S. it was great .can you do another one? Btw Patrick et al. the Doobie brothers recent posting of Black Water is just awesome!
Wow!!! kudos to all and great to see recognition of the original writer. Sweet and Deep man. Rock on Dave,
I've loved your music from the Canteen years too.
The best thing about Covid is that we get to enjoy all of you together spreading the love and music ☮️♥️🎶
All you gents get a pint on me... Grew up on this music, fantastic for bringing it back for us now.
*"Alone Together"* is my favorite album of all time. Thanks, Dave.
I couldn’t agree more . Love that album.
Also my number one album and I have over a thousand.
I could be in love with all 3 of you .... Alone Together. Oh... As Sad and Deep as You. ❤ Glad to know I'm not by myself out here.
Hell yeah!! Probably the greatest 2 chord song ever!
This and "I'll Take You There"
“Eleanor Rigby” as well...
Need a category this year for best quarantine song.
FUN! Thanks, guys: Can't believe I'm saying this, as I still feel like I'm in my 20s, BUT... I'm 8 and 5 months past double hip replacements. This is the first thing that I have danced to that makes me feel like my old (but young) self. Feelin' all right, for SURE:-)
awesome fun to do miss having fun live..Mick F looking good!!Doobs hey Mikey laying down some good key work and that legendary McDonald's voices back looking good after the I'm sure what we call the unscheduled break!! and the Red rocker laying down way to go Sammy.. Dave awesome as ever..🍺😎
between you guys and Lee sklar in the immediate family quarantining in a few others coming out and playing for the fans Corona has done one thing though it's just been really fun to watch all these from homes...
Now That's what I'm talkin bout
I still get goosebumps when Michael McDonald starts singing.
Me too
His concert was Spectacular! Saw him in Ocean City, NJ last week! Simply amazing!!!
makes me feel better..
i will never understand how mick has so much energy still lmao
It’s about time someone’s stepped up and did a Worthy Performance ! Thanks for the Memories ❤️🌎
Lightening in a very cool bottle!!
I have been listening to this song probably a couple times a week since the 70s and this was by far the best rendition. Dave, the Doobie Brothers, & Mick's Fleetwood Mac have been road trip staples for going on 5 (damn!) decades now. Would love to see these guys supergroup a couple of albums together.
On Joe Cocker's 1971 version, Laudir Soares de Oliveira played congas on the track - RIP Laudir!
Still jamming this everyday! Thank you 😊
He's really taken it up several notches from his original with Traffic as also the versions by Joe Cocker, Grand Funk Railroad, Rare Earth, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Diana Ross & The Supremes, and others.
This is just super and you’ve all done a great honor to Dave Mason, Traffic and Joe Cocker!
Good job also to Rob Arthur on these works.
"Feelin' Alright"
Feelin' a Hell of a lot better now after seeing this post.
Musical Greatness still Alive and Well!
Just incredible. As long as we have these kind of musical icons, i feel safe...Music is all i'm living for....
This proves that no matter what happens music will always survive!!😄😁👅
Damn straight! That is some epic jam right there!!!!
Dave Mason has still got it! Classic tune that he wrote back in the late 60s.
Amazing talented Quarantines playing with him.
Need to hear more......
That was awesome, nice to know all the old timers are healthy and keeping us entertained. :-)
Saw Dave earlier this year and all I can say about that concert and this version of Feelin’ Alright is WOW!
I am so happy the day has arrived that I feel okay about Michael McDonald. For the longest time, I felt he had corrupted my beloved Doobie Bros. He seems more hip now than ever. I did enjoy it, but, hot damn I am getting old. Gregg Brown wrote this line in one of his songs that went, "Well, my friends are getting older so I guess I must be, too." I am proud to say my generation was privileged, most especially as regards music. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE?!?!!!!
Just hoping this SIP IS OVER BY OCTOBER SEEING THE 50TH Anniversary tour of the Doobie Brothers
Wow, what a great tune to wake up on this rainy day.
Had a pretty good night, and I waking up to find this on my feed.
It made me get up and Dance these old feet around.
Thanks for that guy's!
Brought me back to the old day's when I danced like the wind!
Nothing quite like a smoking HOT band playing one of my all time favorite songs, to blow these Monday Blues away. Thanks again boy's!
Keep them coming!
✌💜🎶😎🙏
✌❤🐈
70 is the new 20. These guys sound better now than they did 40 years ago!
Dave is fucking awesome. Been listening for many decades. I love old guys, man.........us Boomers kick ass! Thanks gentlemen, I needed this tonight.
I totally agree. Love these quarantine recordings! Makes my day!!
Let's keep this vibe SPREADING. THE GOOOOOD STUFF❤️🙏🏼🎸✊🏼⏳
The best of the pandemic shows. Love to see this group together in 2021 on tour.
Sounds amazing!!!!! Your still the bestest Dave
Dave Mason and crew!! Wow!!!!!
Wow, just wow! What an incredible recording. Definitely a concert I would pay to see once restrictions get lifted.
This is the reason I spent a ton if money on my various stereo systems . .. Great Rock
Dave still sounds great and what a great group of musicians!
I saw Steve Martin open for Dave Mason at The Troubadour. Steve was just learning his chops but Dave Mason locked the door and took the keys.
I’d buy this album!
I’d give anything to just be able to call these dudes my friends. How effing fun would that be!
Been a devoted fan of Dave for 50 years ….love his lyrics
40+ years on and this still rocks my soul!
"Alone Together" may well be the album I have played most over the last four decades.
PS What a joyful video. Great to see fabulous musicians just enjoying themselves so much.
That was totally excellent and I totally enjoyed it thank you very much today’s my birthday I just turned 18 with 50 years of experience thank you and God bless you all that was a great birthday present be safe be cool and enjoy every day thanks again👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎🍺🎸🎼🇺🇸🇱🇹
This needs to be charted! This by far is the best version I've ever heard! Bringing all the greats together for this song for history! Thanks to all of the quarantines!
Elmo peeler has a transcription that you can buy. Just google his name.
