A few things that might help you in the future. 1. Flaps on the wings of planes are extremely useful for landing and taking off. They effectively change thrust into lift. So by having some toggled by a button and attach to your wings, you can increase the amount of lift in the front while slowing your plane down. This makes it easier to land while also decelerating your plane. 2. In the building menu they now have icons to show you all the necessary points to keep track of for aircrafts (though they are useful for other things to). They will even give you advice on how to fix it and what needs to change.
You could technically say the whole wing exchanges thrust into lift, they're basically gurney flaps, and they work in ground effect while landing, not sure if there's ground effect in the game.
@@davidaugustofc2574 if you’re saying flaps only work in ground effect then you’re mistaken. Flaps change the shape of the wing increasing the angle of attack which increases lift while causing more drag
@@aozzya1563 when flaps are deployed, they extend, increasing both the effective area of the wing and the wing camber, the angle of attack is also slightly changed because the trailing edge moves down. That also increases the chord length, and once the distance of the wing to the ground is smaller than the chord length ground effect takes place. You wouldn't want to increase the angle of attack too much because of the low relative air speed, but any and every wing is more efficient at low angles of attack anyway.
@@aozzya1563 while yes that's true. I was actively avoiding jargon that RCE might not know (the comment was mostly written with him in mind, along with anybody who's played Trail Makers who don't know much about how aerodynamics work). Now that being said, air resistance is another form of thrust that comes from the sum of normal forces of the air molecules, and all angles are ratios. So the Angle of Attack can be broken down to its simplest components as a ratio of thrust to lift, which then can be used as a conversion factor.
For roll I would use the ailerons instead of flaps because flaps are supposed to help the aircraft at slow speeds and ailerons are supposed to roll the aircraft. And also you can just put the landing gear on some 1x3/4 blocks to increase height.
Wondering what RCE is going to do with these new tools that the update has given him. Very exciting for me, very scary for the guy that has to pilot his creations.

Hey Matt, fantastic video, loved it, but for the love of king charles was i banging my head into the wall. The hover blocks are somewhat powerful and can lift more than a singular jet engine each, (also shown in your video), but also uses complexity, which lags the game, and power cores, which could be used on more jet engines. So, if you come back to this concept another time, i would advise removing 2/3 of the hover blocks, or something around those lines. On the other hand, impressive record, 1940 and those ranges is something i have been trying to achieve on my own, keep up the ingenuity and ingeniering, you are a game mastermind deserving of love.
So you kind of missed the function of the flap wing, and used it for something else, which works just fine, but you'll get better results using the actual aileron pieces. Those flap wings are meant to increase lift and lower stall speed for landing and takeoff. Which is why they were all set to 30°, toggle on Q. You just press q to toggle landing flaps and you have an easier time landing. Of course, given trailmakers you were perfectly fine and able to repurpose them as ailerons, but ailerons that close to the center of mass have reduced effect. Using the actual aileron pieces on the wingtips will give you better roll control with a much lower angle, I think the default for these ailerons is 5° On larger planes I usually set the speed to 2.0, 12°. You can also use the elevator fins to create your own tailfin that functions for yaw.
Hey rce, the new large propellor is best for breaking the speed record since they are currently the most power dense blocks in the game because only the 2x2 nose has a hitbox and drag so if you put a bunch of em behind each other you can achieve insane speeds of like 5000kph
Hi Matt, another feature to the new trailmakers update is they have added forces in the advanced menu that help you see what's going wrong with your vehicle, I love your videos and they always brighten up my day, keep up the good work!😀
