It's so cute that he scooted near you!
Thanks for noticing the small stuff :)
Can you tell me what to do when I lift my dogs tail his hind legs gives out and he lays on the floor. He is taking anti-inflammatory meds and thyroid medication and weighs about 80. He is a lab shepherd mix I adopted 15 years ago. My heart breaks for him. I have been putting a doggie diaper on him in the house.
Thank you!! My baby had bilateral ccl surgery today. I’m looking forward to seeing her run again.
Thanks for reaching out, I hope you enjoyed that video. Don't forget collagen supplementation. Collagen is the building block of the ligament and does not exist in any dog food at all. Adding one tablespoon of collagen powder to your dog's food daily. Here's a link to my blog post with links to find collagen: www.finndvm.com/blog/collagen-the-building-blocks-for-healthy-skin-flexible-joints-and-strong-ligaments-bones
Thank you for making this
Thank you for reaching out. Make sure you like us. There are lots more videos that may be helpful on my UA-cam channel.
People have to understand. If you own a chi you know. That this breed has to really trust you to do this my dog will not allow a vet or anyone else to touch him he has boundary issues.
You are right but there are techniques to handle every kind of dog.
It actually worked my chi had a bone and was growling. But the min I rubbed him he dropped it and actually leaned into my message closing his eyes. And it kind of helped with the food aggression
That's wonderful to hear! It sounds like the massage technique had a calming effect on your Chihuahua, which is fantastic. Massaging dogs can indeed help reduce tension and anxiety, which may contribute to behaviors like food aggression. When you gently massage your dog, it can stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers and stress relievers. This can help your dog feel relaxed and less likely to exhibit aggressive behaviors. Additionally, massage can improve circulation and promote a sense of well-being, which can further contribute to a calmer demeanor. To continue helping with food aggression, you might want to consider the following tips: Consistency: Keep massaging your dog regularly, especially before feeding times. This can help him associate mealtime with relaxation and positive experiences. Positive Reinforcement: Reward your dog with treats and praise when he exhibits calm behavior around food. This can help reinforce the idea that good things happen when he remains calm. Controlled Feeding: Feed your dog in a calm and quiet environment. Avoid distractions and ensure he feels safe and secure during mealtimes. Gradual Desensitization: Gradually get your dog used to your presence around his food. Start by being nearby while he eats and slowly work up to being able to touch or handle his food bowl without him reacting aggressively. Professional Guidance: If food aggression continues to be a problem, consider seeking the help of a professional dog trainer or behaviorist. They can provide personalized guidance and training techniques to address the issue. It's great that you've found a technique that works for your dog. Keep up the good work, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance!
Great video, thank you. Would you tell me the spelling of that round device? I have a professional micro current machine that I’m going to start using on my dogs hips and legs. I’m wondering if the device you are showing would be redundant. They are different technologies but the results may be similar. My micro current machine was $3000. I’m curious how much your device is.
You can go to website and check there Thanks
What is this called I need one for my golden retriever he has hip problems and I can’t find it online is it a loop something??
Thanks for reaching out. The loop is Assisi Loop you can get online. BUT even better and new since that video is at home Laser. Here is a link to my website that talks about this laser. Don't buy a laser on amazon or chewy. They are not effective. www.finndvm.com/at-home-laser-therapy-resources
I just found out my chihuahua loves a massage. I went from scratching to rubbing and he melted into a doggy puddle and fell asleep lol. I was looking on here to see what else to do. Thanks for posting this.
Bobby, I am so sorry to hear about your dog's situation. Feed him lots of whatever he wants and try to cherish the precious moments on Saturday. 💗💗💗 Christin Finn DVM
My dog is so bad he falls. We have an appointment this Saturday to put him down. I don’t know what else to do
Have you tried a brace?
Hi! there you can contact me.
So beautiful and helpful, I will be back to watch whatever you have posted. Thank you, sincerely. And Jack!
Thanks so much for reaching out. There are lots of great teaching videos on our UA-cam channel. Keep us posted if you don't see what you need;
When do I start doing the PROM? My dog just had TPLO surgery four days ago and does not seem ready for all the therapy on her leg. She is not putting any weight on her surgical leg and her foot got swollen by the bandage - my vet thinks. I am afraid to start any therapy this soon. Also, do you have a video of where the ice pack should go on her leg? Thanks so much for all your information.
Thanks for reaching out I recommend starting PROM right away Day 1 post op, joints only get their nutrition and blood flow by moving, use ice as well. See this video too ua-cam.com/video/Wqxy-5tRX2k/v-deo.htmlsi=vsDF5aaGO3XRm-KU
WE JUST ADOPTED A POM. HE HAD ONE BACK LEG REMOVED IN MARCH. WE JUST WANT TO KEEP HIM PAIN FREE AND HEALTHY. HE GETS AROUND AWESOME. YOU WOULDN'T KNOW HE JUST HAD IT AMPUTATED. ANY MASSAGE TIPS.

Thank you so very much for these videos. It’s helping me tremendously through my dogs rehab!
Wish I’d known about this video sooner, but I’ll use this to help my female dog. Thank you!!
Jen, thank you for reaching out. What is going on with your dog ? Maybe I have some other videos I can recommend
Many thanks! Sh’s a 5-yr old with a healed hip fracture.
Thank you for reaching out, Do you have any questions about the laser, or do you wish to lease to purchase or buy ? Check out this link www.finndvm.com/at-home-laser-therapy-resources
My dog will not even let me get near him go rub him down
Thank you for your comment. Often if a dog is guarded about being massaged you need to start light gentle touch away from the area where they are sore. Behind the ears or lower neck are good areas and giving a popsicle with pumpkin or peanut butter helps a dog to start understanding you want to do something FOR them not TO them
Is this a laser or LED? What is the power output? Is it continuous or pulsed? I noticed that you or your dog are not wearing protective goggles. What tissues are you treating? How deep is it penetrating? Many thanks
Thank you for reaching out with your questions. This particular laser does not require safety glasses. The power is 1.1 watt, 2 continuous wavelengths 66o nanometers (visible)-great for superficial wounds and skin and 860 nm- for deeper tissues. I had a Klaser for 10 years now I have a Summas for my practice. Though my 30 clients that have purchased this laser for at home use on their dogs are getting amazing results with more frequent treatments
Ice for arthritis? frigid temperatures can heighten pain sensitivity, slow blood circulation and cause muscle spasms? Unless there's new research out there
Great to hear your questions and comments. YES I for arthritis. Short treatments with ice provide potent anti-inflammatory benefits, There is significant amounts on the use of ice. Have you seen the increase use of ice baths for pro and olympic athletes. With that said I personally will never take a ice bath because I am a wimp for being cold, But you bet I iced my ACL injury all the time.
Thank you so much for this extremely helpful video!! I will be starting this with Ash this weekend!
We just got our laser a couple of days ago. Thanks for uploading this instructional video! I'll get started with this on Ash this weekend.
Katina, I'm super excited for you! I know the laser will help with Ash's pain in the comfort of your home.
No,no they can’t 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
For pain medication??
I'm so glad I can use the laser at home on my dogs any time ! Thank you !
Paula, thank you for sharing. I am so happy that committed dog owners like you can help their dogs at home.
My Westie is 4 weeks post op on TPLO. He hates me touching his leg from the knee down...tried to run away. He has never stood having his feet touched. Any suggestions? He is fine with the body massage and hip massage though.
Passive Range of Motion is ideally done before surgery as well as after can be the first Day, Just be GENTLE. You shouldn't need to touch the suture line, but no harm done if your just gently touching. I hope that was helpful. Super gentle passive range of motion can begin 24 hours after your dog gets home. If your dog is being bothered you are being too rough or fast. Take a deep breath, smile, and touch your dog as if they were a baby bird. <3 For more support & great info, check out our Whole Dog Health membership that gives you virtual access to Dr Finn 7 days/week www.finndvm.com/
There are so many stabilizer discs out in the market. Is there a brand or type you recommend?
Jen, thanks so much for reaching out. The primary thing that's important with stabilizers is that it's big enough- 26 to 38 inches, however you can use an upside-down garbage can lid with a pillow in it for a DIY, or a squishy mat. If you're interested in more amazing support, consider checking out our whole-dog health membership. www.finndvm.com/whole-dog-health-membership
