Yep can only echo the rest of your viewers. Grew up around and driving 35x and don’t think I can ever remember one having a problem. Simple reliable engines. Those were the days!!
First drove my Grandfather’s 35X Multi-Power at around 8 years old. My Father restored it 5 years ago and we are still using it. Wonderful little tractor.
The injectors are about $45 here. That's nice. A set of 6 for my Cummins diesel is about $2,500. Thank you, I am enjoying this series, so on to the next one.
Oooo cliffhanger!!😆. It’s always fun (not) to try and find one problem but there’s a dozen hidden ones🤦♂. Oh and at least the mog was supposed to sound rough on start up😆
Mine could, didn t matter neutral or in gear, haven t got it anymore, traded it for a Super Major with a 6 meter construction lift and a newpainted TEA 20 this summer.
Thats is a lovely original 35X shame that's not yours.🤩 I have had the privilege of driving and using the 35's with the 3.152, 35X A3,152, and the Mad Max 35 originally with 23C Standard But fitted with a AD3 152 engine (same as the 148, the one you know Dan) brilliant starting engine!!😊 thank you for the video Dan.👍
I've worked on alot of 35's, 135, 240, all the 3 cylinder Perkins. That engine deffo has another injector leaking, and I reckon the injection pump wants a overhaul, spec the fuel filters blocked, or lift pump gauze plugged or little pencil filter in tank, don't think going deeper is going to find much,
injectors then re-do the valves then hang a rotavator or a couple of furrows on her! if it's just been tootling along pulling a roller about with the engine running just above tick-over, well you know the rest 😉
My 414 has an identical sound. I know it to be a valve that isn’t seating right but havnt had the time to sort yet and didn’t have the time to sort it while I had head off due to tractor being in the way
@ that’s the main thing hey chief ! High caliber man like yourself I was assuming this and looking forward to seeing this in the future . Suppose original keeps the character. Would rust killer prevention sprays help or water based products like bilt hamber do or just stick to oil n diesel 👍✌️
Little tip, when cold starting don't push the clutch in as it puts pressure on the crankshaft thrust bearings which won't be lubricated until the engine builds oil pressure up
Is that a CAV DPA pump on the Massey, if so is it worth checking the little "top hat" filter gauze on the fuel inlet (with the long time since last service maybe the other fuel system components. tank, filters etc have a look at) on the back of the punp as theyt tend to get "gummed up" making for hard starting and poor running
The lift pumps on these are prone to leaking diesel into the oil. Indirect injection engines are never brilliant starters. Ours from new in 1963, always in winter needed heat start, Don't use aerosols in the air intake. The engine becomes "addicted" to it, as the oil gets washed from the cylinder bores, creating more wear, and therefore less compression. Looking at the way the paint had peeled off the rocker cover, this old lady has been overheating at some point in it's life.
Many great videos thanks. I think I have a 35x but I am having problems being sure. I don't know the history of the tractor. I purchased a year ago. Is there a website that will tell me more from my serial number. Any direction would be appreciated.
Prehistoric engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! buildeed by crazy peoples.... inevolutive technology for ....timesssssssssssssssssssssssssss.... it was very easy and cheap to put in it a pre-heating candles for exemple .......
I have a Fordson dexta with a similar engine the pre combustion chamber caps leaked bad on mine. To me that engine sounds like it has valve sealing issues
Thanks Dan. Enjoy your troubleshooting adventure. Quick question. When you disconnect the battery do you have to flash the regulator to get the generator charging again? Reason asking is My new to me 58 TO35 is not charging the battery. Enjoy your channel.
You might need to polarising it by flashing the dynamo/generator and which end your battery cable is connected to the starter motor or charging system at, here's a video link to show how it's done on a Lucas system, ua-cam.com/video/yvxl4mTz10c/v-deo.htmlsi=ohEoA4wJOPzraX6m
Hi this may be that the engine is glazed up in the bores old ford countys suffered from this oil would come out the exuast where they got so bad through not a enough work and not getting up to temp put it on a plough or something and pull the throttle down you may see some difference

Can i have it 😉
Love your videos fixing the 35s your really good at showing and explaining what your doing to them
Very enjoyable and, as always, a very clear explanation. Looking forward to the next one
I liked it when you mentioned the driver and that area being the problem. 😂 unfortunately too true. A great watch yet again 👍
I have the exact same 1958 owned by my grandfather and his brother before that great piece of machinery
Love vintage Thursday.
Bought myself an injector tester, so can control pressure, leakage, reliefpressure, nice to be able to rule out faults from an end.
Good to watch inspect and repair videos on old stuff. Look forward to the next one. 🙂👍

Another great video really enjoy these videos were your working and or explaining about the said machinery or equipment

Great tractor and an interesting project. Looking forward to following this.
Great interesting video Dan, can not wait for next one, cheers 🚜🚜
Cracking video Dan. Look forward to seeing more of this one

Do you know where I can get parts for a 1922 Hoyt-Clagwell tractor?
Great job so far Dan!
Excellent video, bring on the deeper dive.

Like a thousand piece jig saw puzzle where is the missing part 🙄🤔 looking forward to next installment 👍
She is burning a drop of oil with the look of the blue smoke coming out of it when you started it
Great video.
Sounds like a failed head gasket.
Look forward to the next videos
Looks like one of solving a problem then another pops up 😮
35X is an apt description 😜
Old copper seals can be used again if gloved out and softened again.
My 414 has an identical sound. I know it to be a valve that isn’t seating right but havnt had the time to sort yet and didn’t have the time to sort it while I had head off due to tractor being in the way
Crying for a sandblast spray job n some mechanical love
No paint for this one, it's just going to be mechanically sorted.

Good run on the slurry wisk
Good fun! Lets hope you'll fund the problem
Little tip, when cold starting don't push the clutch in as it puts pressure on the crankshaft thrust bearings which won't be lubricated until the engine builds oil pressure up
That's true, but pressing the clutch removes the drag of the gearbox so there's not much in it.
It's also a good safety habit to get into.

The fuel system was a mess, but that little filter was as clean as a new one!

That is utter shite, engines don't become addicted to products like easy start, you need to study a bit more

Ferguson heritage
enjoyed vid Dan 👍
Nice video, 35 will start with main lever in gear the safety is in the small lever, sounds like an injector problem.
Yes it will start, but it's good practice to have both in neutral.

no. he won't need to. @@calumanderson5617
You don't need to polarise every time you disconnect the battery, but if your system isn't charging its an easy thing to try first.
I think The trouble IS in exhaust valve. IT IS common If The machinen IS outside in The ravin and rarely used
Gosh that ceiling roof needs a fix before the 35x…
👍

Its that replement injektor adujust fore the right opening presure..
Yes, it's for a 35X
You onley need too have the hi/low range in neutral too start.
Yes, but it's good practice to have both in neutral.
I guess you allready checked the airfilter.
Looking to restore my tractor
It's coked up, not able to get enough air in to burn the fuel properly, off with it's head I command you 😒 then give valves a grind in🙏
It couldn’t be that it’s been pottered about and got a bit carbed?
Yes, they don't like that.
🇮🇪🇮🇪🙏🙏👍👍👌👌
Looking for anyone who can help me restor my petro messy Ferguson 35
