A NEW YORK artist has transformed herself into a 'living art doll.’ Otherworldly performer Toshi Salvino, 24, has always been intrigued by dolls and the Harajuku style, so she has spent her life to transforming into an 'art doll'. The make up artist and hair stylist, originally from Pennsylvania, plans out three hours a day to become her doll self and wears her full doll look four to six days a week.

It's so cool that she found a way to express herself. It would be amazing if everyone had the courage to dress in a way that reflects their heart.
I recently started doing the same. Certainly not to the degree she is but I wore leggings to school for the first time last week. I love bright colours and fun prints. I was always scared because people say that boys can't wear leggings.
Wearing what makes you happy doesn't define who you are. You define who you are.
I am also disabled and I have juvenile idiopathic polyarticular arthritis. That basically means I have had arthritis throughout my entire body since childhood and it started for no particular reason. The knee hinges are very clever!

In my opinion, makeup isn't about being pretty, hot, impressing men, or covering up imperfection. it is about expressing yourself through art, being unique, and having fun being creative, just on your face. Your body, your face is a canvas for whatever you think you want to be.

I’m the mom to two in their late teens. I’ve always encouraged self-expression and embraced the journey of who they are and who they’re becoming whether they fit my esthetic or not. As long as they aren’t doing something illegal and aren’t harming others, I love and support them.
you have one of the greatest styles of parenting. my mum has raised me the same way my whole life, and being able to express myself however I wanted to has given me a sense of freedom ever since I was a little kid. it makes me so happy to see that there are other awesome parents out there that give their kids a healthy form of freedom.
Wish my mom was like that. Shes fine with me dyeing my hair, but ONLY if she likes the color so my options are natural colors or just red. But I hate those dark colors tbh!! I really love pastel colors and lolita and harajuku fashion and want to bleach my hair and dye it pastels and just wear cute clothes but she won't let me do that.

She takes care of her skin very well. After wearing all that makeup she needs to wash her face a lot. She also might do some skin care. She might do Korean skin care but I am not sure.

Because wearing a crap ton of makeup that will ruin your face is a myth. Just a regular wash is fine. I wear a lot of makeup and ever since I stopped using harsh washes and just rinsed my face off every now and then my face looks and feels so much better.

Lyme disease is no joke. a friend of mine has it and it effects her daily. it's painful for her and for people who love hr to see her suffer and be helpless to stop it. i'm glad Toshi found a way to bring joy into her life and other's lives, something that makes her happy and i hope it distracts or helps her get through the pain. not my personal aesthetic, but everyone has their own taste and variety is the spice of life after all. she seems like she is a great artist with the dolls and some of the drawings in her room if she drew those, also her makeup skills. lots of practice.. wish i had the time to perfect my makeup skills lol but alas too busy and its not a high enough priority for me right now. is she a makeup artist? because she is really good and that would be a job where she could express herself freely with her fashion/ art... oh i just got to the part where she said she is employed as a hair stylist in "real life" .

This is the first "DOLL" I've seen that is mentally healthy without body dysmorphia. She is expressing her art form in a healthy way. She loves herself but her face is her canvas which she loves to paint, she isn't anything like those other "plastic barbies" trying to reach some unrealistic non existent form of perfection, putting themselves and health at risk by destroying their bodies through endless cosmetic surgeries. She is naturally beautiful and a true artist.

I’m the sort of person who’s scared to be myself most of the time. I used to be an aspiring artist and I’ve always been really into alternative subcultures. I find these people extremely inspiring and motivating. For some of us the greatest joy comes just from being ourselves unapologetically and I love it. She could be bitter about having Lyme Disease but instead she chose to express it creatively.

it's amazing how she chooses to make herself appear as a doll to represent her personality. many people do such things for reasons they themselves aren't sure of. she is so confident in herself and connects her physical appearance to her experiences and her emotions, and i truly admire that.

I would love to dress like that but I'm worried about the stares - though I know people stare regardless. I go walk my dogs in the mornings in my pj's and people stare for no reason and I hate it - and that's me being completely normal so... yeah, I'd dress like this only if I were to be surrounded by friends all day LOL 'cause they'd give me confidence

She used to always wear some sort of costume everyday. an army outfit one day, a maid outfit the next, then next week a cowgirl, then a mermaid or whatever. I always thought she was a very beautiful person because of her courageousness to just be herself and not let the stares stop her from doing what she liked.
I honestly love it, the way she dresses and does the makeup. It really does help express who she is ans how she feels and it is beautiful and has that pastel gothic aesthetic a whole lot of people love I honestly don't see what's wrong with it.
