- Scenes from a very stormy Doncaster railway station in South Yorkshire on 9th June 2014.
First some clips of the deluge of rain falling then some loco scenes as follows:
Class 66 66050 heads north light engine.
An East Coast 225 passes through with a London to Edinburgh service while an HST 125 leaves the station with a York to London service.
Class 66 66030 heads north with an engineers train for Tyne Yard.
Finally Class A4 Pacific No. 4464 Bittern heads south on a movement from Northallerton after visiting the Wensleydale Railway. The loco was heading for Southall.
Always nice to see an A4 and hear that lovely whistle.
Thanks for your comments Alan. Jeff.
Excellent footage from Doncaster Jeff and a nice start to the video showing how severe the rain was. 'Bittern' sounding a bit 'wheezy' on its departure there. Very enjoyable footage. A good day out at Doncaster. Cheers - Allan.
Thanks Allan. Agreed a good day out at Doncaster despite the heavy rain. Cheers, Jeff.
Very good shots Jeff, the atmosphere at Doncaster well captured. Great view of Bittern on the centre road - Hayden.
Thanks Hayden. Always a risk of other trains obstructing the view at Doncaster but no problems yesterday. Jeff.
Lovely capture of Bittern through the middle road. I hope to see Bittern on Saturday if everything goes to plan. Thanks for sharing, Cheers... Kyle
Many thanks for your comments Kyle, much appreciated. I hope you get to see Bittern on Saturday. Regards, Jeff.
I really enjoyed that Jeff, a powerful start to the video capturing the mood very well, and as others have already said, Bittern sounding a bit wheezy as she departed South...Best wishes...Bob
Thanks Bob. The storm lasted quite a while but had subsided a bit by the time Bittern arrived. Regards, Jeff.
Excellent video Jeff, and what terrible weather, we had the same in our part of the world, followed by a mini heatwave later in the day, great shot of Bittern, thanks for sharing, cheers...Bill
Many thanks for your comments Bill. It was quite spectacular stuff that thunderstorm. Great to see Bittern at Doncaster and getting an unobstructed view, not always the case at that station. Cheers, Jeff.
Nice clip
Just uploaded my clips of Bittern I was just a few miles south of you
The rain was that bad I left it to the last minute no time to set up my tripod
The noise of the rain nearly drowned out all the rest of the sound!!
Cheers
Thanks for your comments. It was really serious stuff that rain. Great to see Bittern at Doncaster.
Great video. Captured Doncaster train station very well, especially at the beginning, showing how parts of the station are decaying. I believe money should be spent on it to look like a Victorian station. My father was a fitter engineer and repaired most of the Pacifics/Deltics in his 43 year service, only to retire early through asbestosis. RIP
Many thanks for your comments, much appreciated. It's not the most glamourous station for a railway town so noted for the famous railway works your farther worked at.
@@bobnweaver Those workshops are now demolished. Did you know that at one time, Doncaster had the opportunity in hosting the National Railway Museum and it was turned down. Actually, it has given me an idea to write about the condition of the Rail platforms. They are at the moment redesigning the front of Doncaster Rail Station.
@@mop714 Thanks for your further comment. I did not know about The NRM oportunity.
Glad i never ventured out Jeff with that rain about.Nice bit of footage as usual...Trevor.''
Thanks Trevor. It was indeed an awful day for the rain. Hope is a bit better Saturday. Cheers, Jeff.
We had sun for most of the day Jeff , nice capture of Bittern , sounds a little off key there
Thanks Dave. The weather was nice when I left Newcastle but soon deteriorated. Nice to get an unobstructed view of the steam loco, not always the case at Donny. Regards, Jeff.
Beautiful video! Congrats - Up
Greetings, Andrew

Excellent vid Bob give me an A4 any time..cheers Steve..
Thanks for your comment Steve, much appreciated, Jeff.
Splendid video Jeff - was this filmed using a digital camera or a video camera? I was looking at buying a video camera in the near future, cheers James
Thanks for your comments and query James. I used a Panasonic camcorder for this particular video but some of my earlier videos were taken with a digital camera. Regards, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff, quite a choice of video cameras on the market. It depends on how much is in the old piggy bank!
Hi Jeff very good..Dave
