I had gallbladder removed 10 years ago. Never had a bariatric procedure. Started experiencing dumping syndrome within about the last year. IT IS HORRIBLE! I feel like I don't know what else to do. I've changed my diet so many times, I'm about to eat the grass in my yard (pun intended). This last episode I only ate a slice of chicken breast and some plain avocado chunks. 45 minutes later BOOM it hit me. I have had both early and late onset with diarrhea. Thanks for posting this!! I really need to hear that I am not alone.

Take the cholesterol drug Colesevelam (Welchol) on an empty stomach in the morning wait 2-3 hours before you eat and you will live a normal life. There will be flare ups from time to time but the Colesevelam will give you a normal life 95% of the time.

Thank you for posting this. It is true, your video helped me get through one of the most intense dumping episodes, just by distracting myself by watching this video, and also doing other things you recommended was "salvation"...even your calming voice made it easier. Laying flat, lifting arms or legs, breath breath breath... what stinks for me, no matter the size of food, the speed of eating, I have yet found a way to not experience it. It happens daily, sometimes not as intense, but happens. I luckily don't always have the intense "omg I'm about to die" feeling, but everyday I experience something, be it nausea or rapid heartbeat, even blanking out or feel like passing out. I only hope one day, I can figure out that happy medium where I can eat and "not" have these symptoms... until then, your video helped, so thanks a million... and if this long drawn out paragraph may sound like gibberish, it's because I'm typing it while trying to get over an episode so hopefully by the end of this I have gotten over it.. 😅

I haven't had any surgery but I too suffer with dumping syndrome. I've finally got a referral to the hospital for it. Because I haven't had surgery it's always met with "well where did that come from" which is frustrating. I battle on 😢

I'm out five years from my sleeve surgery. I thought I was having chronic blood sugar drops. Same symptoms. Feel sweaty, heart pumping like a freight train, foggy thinking, must eat something, dizzy,
and nauseated. Afterward, I'm wiped out with a headache. Family doc says it's hypoglycemic episodes but it probably is dumping. I was told sleeve patients don't dump. Wow! Thanks for all this info.

My doctors were unhelpful too.. Apparently you can have this syndrome even without any surgery and it is mostly diagnosed by symptoms. There’s a great article about it in the NIH website. Feel well 🙏

For me the diaphram pain is excruciating.
I trt to make my self sick so stop the pain.
    Water, panadol, ant acids, water.
I pace around the house and feel like I want to fast walk on my treadmill.
It feels like I've been poisoned.
    Sweats and dizzy, heart palpations.
I thought I was dying, I called the ambulance.
Now I learn not to panic as it makes it way worse, knowing it will go away quite quickly. God bless anyone that goes through this.
Strange that I also had this on my pre op optifast diet before I even had my sleeve

I never had surgery but have this syndrome. Took an awful lot of time (years), doctors and self reading to figure out what’s going on - why am I so dizzy after meals and having trouble concentrating while having such a bloated stomach (after almost any meal). Next week I’m going to see a dietitian to plan a 6 meal a day menu as it supposed to help 🤞
A tip I can give is drinking tea with about a spoon of cinnamon - it really helps me shortening the episode.
    Good health everyone 🙏

Thank you. I am crying inside listening to this. I haven’t had any surgeries and I experience this on a regular basis. I hardly consume sugar in my regular diet and when I eat without thinking at a party or a night out (which those don’t happen but a handful times a year). A bath and distracting myself seems to work best. I throw up and get the shivers. My heart beat pounds in my chest. I have has this happen since I was a kid. I wish I knew earlier. Thank you. Sharing.

So sorry for those symptoms you're having
I was diagnosed with it too the doctor said the opening of the pylorus is too small from healed over scar tissue - don't know if I ever had an ulcer but I was diagnosed with gastritis
I don't have the dizziness but too quickly after I eat I feel like I'm starving again
and it's given me an eating complex
I remember the doctor said with this video told us not to drink with meals, I need to start doing that. My doctor also said small meals but since I have an eating issue I feel like I have to eat a lot every time.

I’m 8 years out from RNY. I have found for me the dumping is worse. But my courage to get too much sugar is my downfall. I’m to the point now I hurt in my chest so bad I thought I was having a heart attack! So starting today no sugar period . If that burning in my chest happens again I will have it confirmed it is my heart.

Take 2 tablets of Colesevelam on an empty stomach in the morning, wait 2-3 hours before you eat. You can have coffee but don’t eat until the 2-3 hours has passed. This will help big time . Trust me I have lived with it for 12 years.

Having another episode. Hate when they're in the middle of the night/ early morning. I have to say, all I did was eat a chocolate croissant on an empty stomach. And I've been cramping and having loose bowls for 2 hours, Aalborg with nausea, sweating, even took 4 Bentyl and 4 hyociamine. I need new prescriptions. This sux.

What helps me is taking a hot bath with epsom salts. I had an episode just a few days ago.
Here is shaking, nauseous, weak, cramping etc. feeling like you are going to die -
it lasts for me an hour to an hour and a half. The only thing that helps here is taking
a bath and soaking in epsom salt. What caused my episode ? butter beans with butter
    no sugar but carbs.

I had colon cancer resection surgery and major radiation at that time which I suspect damaged my vagus nerve. I'm a 9 year survivor. I had to diagnose myself recently with Dumping syndrome. I described symptoms over and over to no avail. You described my symptoms exactly. I had a man at the hospital say he recognized my symptoms as Dumping syndrome once years ago and They never mentioned it again. I had no idea what it was. I find changing my diet and ways of eating so that I never have that again. is not that difficult. I'm just thankful its not life threatening.. My dear friend mentioned Dumping syndrome as a possibility and having heard that before BOOM I did my research. I'm sure the radiation damaged my vagus nerve. The tail bone area is where the radiation was directed.

I had the same issue following my surgery. I was referred back to the surgical team by my doctor 4 months after surgery having had all the early and late dumping symptoms. They examined me sent me away awaiting blood tests which all came back relatively ok. Couple of months later referred back, same thing. Then a third time and this time it was a stand in consultant. He said straight away that I had early and late dumping symptoms. This was music to my ears as I now knew what was going on and I could tackle it. But I had months of wondering what the rapid hear beat and dizziness was etc . The other IBS symptoms I just put down to my condition and didn't connect them to the other stuff going on. It's a real worry until you know. Why the heck didn't they tell me this months earlier? It's obvious what it was...

I have early and late dumping syndrome. I didn't know about this beforehand having had a duodenum stricture bypass surgery. Well at least I think I wasnt told about it. A few. Months after surgery I started having lots of different issues. I'd start getting a fast heartbeat I could feel in my chest, feel close to fainting , super nauseous and stomach cramps etc etc. I thought the worst and thought my ticker was on the way out! Inalso get all the other symptoms similar to IBS. I have to fully work from home now and have started a diet change following a visit to my sirgerical team and was informed there what I had. It's truly life changing that's for sure.

I had large diffuse B cell malt lymphoma. No gastric surgery. Lost all my teeth, throat shrunk from radiation. I am strictly soft diet and liquid nutrition. I have self managed ibs for years but these last couple years things have worsened. I can manage to enjoy 2 or 3 kfc chicken tenders it’s the inky meat I will eat. But suffer these blow outs after. Even my ensures will cause it. I am fine if I don’t take in nutrition and just suck, nibble, sip all through the day. My weight is dropping. Never heard of dumping syndrome before but it fits. Terrible Gut cramps, nausea, sweat through episode, vomit it’s horrible. Lately nit making it to bathroom and have soiled myself nit nice very embarrassing. It has been 12 years since radiation losing teeth throat needs zenkers surgery. Just doesn’t seem worth it. Wearing diaper now “just incase”. Thank you for your tips.

Yes, lying down/ reclining is SOOO helpful, not the most convenient thing to need to do, but who cares if it helps. But how to do this in the workplace? I drove for a living, so it's called, don't eat too quickly and don't eat a bunch at anytime. My doctor said when we're dumping, it's because our body is screaming NO! And if we keep causing the syndrome, or could kill. He told me a nasty story, let's just say someone worth a good addiction couldn't stop, and would eat their forbidden foods on the toilet, and was found dead in the bathroom. That's how they figured out how he died. Ugh. 😔 So sad.

I am 16 years out of RNY and I just had my 3rd worst one ever. Not sure if it was the stupid grapes or the 1/4 baked potato with almond based butter. This one felt like needles were sticking in the top part of my back. I keep paper towels and kleenex allover my house. LOL it's a very undignified thing. And I always think OMG this is it...I'm going to die. LOL 've had it in the car when I forgot and ate something stupid that's why I keep all my fast food napkins in there. My first one was 6 months out and not knowing I couldn't have one sip of a sweet mixed drink. LOL. My husband was always clueless about it but now he's had his gall bladder out and has had it a few times. The heart pounding is scary but hey it's a cardio workout? lol
