I'm American, and have taught ESL for a long time in other countries. I try to teach 'universal' English. It's not important to have an American or British English. Reducing accents is fine. The whole point is simply to be understood . I think accents are beautiful

The main difference though between the way this girl is speaking in both examples she gives and the way native English speaking Americans talk is that we use what’s up, what’s good, what happening, whatcha up to etc simply as greetings. We don’t literally mean ‘what are you doing right now?’. And the response we get from someone might be an additional ‘what’s up’, ‘what’s good?’ ‘How’s it going’ and no one ever actually answers that question. But the way she’s saying it, it sounds like she means literally ‘wtf are you doing’ lol so it sounds more confrontational rather than a friendly greeting. I don’t think she sounds as American as she thinks she does.
