My take is . . . If you feed your family with it, it counts toward the monthly budget. If you give the food away, it doesn’t count.

    • @yvonnepalmquist8676
      @yvonnepalmquist8676 2 роки тому +14

This. It obviously makes as part of the budget to feed the family if it feeds the family. It's also why the dent in the freezer hasn't happened. It's part of "that" budget. But I'm thinking it's more of a tally than a budget. 🤷‍♀

Christine--can you please do a no spend grocery month in January? I think a lot of us start out the year with a no spend month. I love watching you be creative with what you have on hand.

I would love to see a "freezer clean out" series where you really clean out your pantry and freezer and whip things up with what you have on hand. You don't always need to buy more things!!

I would love a Low/No spend month watching you use up what you already have and make room in your freezer. I do like the other cooking videos, too, but it would be inspiring to just see you deal with what you already have and just buy the ingredients you need (milk, fresh produce, etc) just for a month. 😁

Including ways to use your case of mac & cheese, such as chili mac or flavored beans and mac. Making things using the mac and the cheese packets in different was, not necessarily together. Just a few ideas.

Hey Christine, I’m personally so addicted to your emergency grocery budget meal plans! If that’s all you made, I’d be the happiest person alive lol. And I’d rather you make videos with what is currently in your fridge and freezer. Helps me get those creative juices flowing with my own cooking.

I think if you don't need the food, don't buy the food. I enjoy watching you use what you have and spending as little as possible. I have 5 freezers in my garage, 2 refrigerators in my house and a good sized pantry stocked full so I find it inspiring to watch you make meals with just what you have on hand. I vote for weekly videos of what you fed your family, spending as little as possible.

My 2 cents is that you should count the food that you and your family end up eating, in your food budget.
The stuff that you taste for a video and then give away should not be counted. Whenever you do a pantry clear out/no spend week/month, it will all come out in the wash. What do you think?

Girl hats off to you. You're a super brave warrior woman for going to Walmart the day before Thanksgiving. I dont have the courage. Upon realizing we only had two rolls of toilet paper in the house before Thanksgiving celebrations I opted for rite aid. Knowing full well the price would tick me off. Small price to pay to avoid the last minute holiday crowd fiasco though. I admire you for that.

Jessica doesn’t buy anything in January and February and just uses what she has in her house (with the exception of an annual bulk citrus purchase that gets delivered in the middle of the challenge). Love your videos! I live in Australia and asked my accountant if I can claim the shop for the 'food challenges' as I am showing tutorials on how to shop and cook and she said no because you then get to eat the food or give it away so it doesn't help the channel, she then said however 'if you bought ingredients for a cake tutorial and then used that cake in another video like a cake smash or something else then you can' - oh boy the rules are so confusing! I agree with you so much we shop because we are 'making videos' we normally wouldn't shop so much.

The deciding factor in my mind is whether your family eats it. If they do, it's a grocery expense. Also, since you picked up the crumbled bacon, here's one of my favorites: taco containing cubed and boiled potato, shredded cheddar, and a small handful of the crumbled bacon.

Sounds delish! For a twist, try rolling the taco up and pan fry into flautas! If you're shy of frying, try rolling the taco and placing in 400F oven for 3-5 min, turning the rolled tacos and repeating. Serve with your favorite taco topping. 🌮

I too can be odorous at the pit area, my go to is Schmidt's brand all-natural deodorant. One is doesn't contain toxic aluminum which can lead to breast cancer. The other is works, it's not an antiperspirant, the body needs to sweat. It does work to control odor. I have tried everything on the planet, it's my go to. Around $8 at Walmart, Amazon is a little cheaper, different scents for men and women. I love Moon Flower, only available online at Amazon. I think it works the best. Sometimes they have 2 for deals. Bergamot and lime is a good choice as well. The heat of you under arm helps melt the stick. No white marks on clothes.

Anything you buy specifically for a video would be a work expense, however the specific grocery hauls you would make for your family regardless of you tube being your job would be a personal expense. I think you can go several months doing the minimum hauls for your fresh ingredients and mostly shopping your pantry would be helpful for most of us.

I like seeing food prices in general so it doesn't bother me to include everything. Maybe do complete total and non video total? It's your channel, i just enjoy it. 🙂

I say if it feeds your family. then count 50% towards your total. Even though it's a business expense, for the purpose what your showing for your budget for month. You would want to count some of it towards your total, since you are feeding to your family.

I am the same way with deodorant. You have to smell some of the new Old Spice deoterents, my favorite is Wilderness, they don't smell like a teenage boy!
Also if you wash your underarms with benzoyl peroxide (such as a face wash with that ingredient, walmarts brand with 10% is my go to) it kills the bacteria which is what causes the stink. It a real game changer.

You guys do "swill". We do "Hog Puke". We need to combine. (Hog Puke is a lime and lemon jello salad with pineapple and cottage cheese. Pretty good if you survived the '60's.)

If you ate it, it counts. Even the stuff from the freezer

I noticed the same thing with the milk here in NC. It went from lasting MONTHS without souring (I know this because I was waiting for some sour milk to make a recipe and finally soured it myself. What was this stuff made of???) to souring almost instantly well before the BEST date.

I’m from KS and noticed milk tasting sour way too early too.
Luckily? I had bought a box of shelf stable milk from Dollar tree that I need to go through.

I vote no, it doesn't count if it's a business expense or if it would be different if you weren't on YT 💕

Also I'm sick this week so I didn't go to the grocery store like I was supposed to because I don't want the additional charge of delivery. Had to do a pantry clean out which blew my mind because I didn't actually need anything to fully feed myself breakfast, lunch and dinner 💀💀💀 Anyway point is, yes, please do more clean out and no spend videos 💕💕💕

    Hi Christine!
The taste test that you then gave away I wouldn´t count. Other things that you made meals of and that your family ate I would count since it became food for your family.

    Hello.
Do you have any videos of what YOU, specifically, would buy for your family?
We are a family of 6. I really need to tighten our budget.
