This is why I love most speedrunners, they don't sit on strats, tips and tricks but share them with their community. To me that means that they want no edge over their rivals other than skill and determination. I don't speedrun myself but I do have massive respect for those who do master their games of choice to such an extreme level.
I never understood people who gated information either. I get feeling too lazy to explain to every person you run into; but feeling a need to hide it? Idk; I always feel good being the teacher. Maybe its just fair to assume those same people have horrible parents, and will become horrible parents. Rather watch their kid fail than teach them the secrets to life. Personally find i'm doing a disservice to humanity if I idle standby and watch others fails when I can help them improve.
@@KJab21512 these days its pretty hard to actually gate strats for more than one run. any leaderboard or wr attempt require video proof. at least for most leaderboards
Yo Nick, congratulations again on the record mate. I fell in love with valheim when it first came out and drifted away from it a bit. I casually watch longer form/ 100% style speedruns as my 'background noise', and discovering your channel has been a treat. This WR is a great one because it's equal parts skill and luck. Lots of hiccups and mistakes throughout, and yet some blessed RNG. Finding the 3rd egg in the mountains had me beaming. I know how hard it is to stay in a positive mindset when creating content, but the effort and energy you put into making this stuff is really appreciated. Love your positive attitude and sense of humor man. Thanks for taking the time to create and share this. Much love from the US
Amazing run Nick. Got there early and stayed for the whole run, it was my second time watching a stream of yours. Great video explaining a lot of things that I didn't know about, you're a legend.
Set a goal, anything in life, doesn't matter how hard it is, an never f''kn give up, if I can do it, you can. Nick Rawcliffe 2022. 😍 Nice concise commentary as well, that would appeal all age groups and to the broken English viewers. P.S, love the music, 3:03 reminds me of the lift music, from back in the 80's.
Grats! I dont speed run, but I learned so much. First time fighting Yagluth this week; he destroyed myself and my brother, and we were dumb enough to let him destroy our portal and beds. Have to sail from the other side of the world now from scratch.
i am playing casual Valheim now for 500h or so, and just defeatet Bonemass with my friends. So you are playing this fantastic game in a complete different style, but i recognize that you love it and man, you have skill! I love to watch your runs and i am looking forward how you master Mistlands. Go for it, all thumbs up up and up.
Congratulations again Mate you are truly the king of valheim speed running, glad I was there to witness it, so pleased you done this video too will be a great help for anyone wanting to give speed running a go, and I hope this will encourage a few more to give it a blast, Great stuff looking forward to see what strats you come up with when mistlands finally arrives. Thank you for the content respect Zom.
I wonder if the devs saw speedruns like this, which cleverly cheese bosses by building structures that deliberately screw with their AI, and decided to put The Queen inside an instanced dungeon to force players to have to face her in a fair fight.
I love watching shit like this. I have played this game before. Good fucking run man, congrats. Never giving up in anything you do is the key! Great advice there at the end.
Congrats Nick! Now I regret going on holiday and missing this run. but at least I can now enjoy the vod without biting my nails down to the roots. And this video is a great guide, well done!
Great accomplishment Nick. Thanks for the entertainment and education highlighting the evolution of strategies. And thanks for the amazing 30 second mini-movie zooming into the mountain top -- edit skill level up! Makes me wonder if Valheim based machinima is just over the horizon.
dope vid! and congrats on the accomplishment! I've been trying to do my own runs myself, but I am also trying to do no death. Is there anyone else that has a world record for NG RSG ND All bosses? thanks!
Threadmenace has the best no death runs. However No death is not a category. Harcore% is but it has a load of additional rules. You will find the Hardcore% rules here: www.speedrun.com/valheim_category_extensions#Hardcore
Part of me thinks this run shouldn't be complete until the Yag trophy has been added to the spawn point with the rest, allowing the player to use its buff, and therefore truly completing the game. I know its all bosses and not 100 percent but still. I suppose that wouldn't make a crazy difference for a speed runner though. You'd just have to get extra cores for portals and place one by the spawn point with the mats on hand to TP home
Yeah.. I have never even been to the swamp yet, but I been watching more and more of the game to push for completion. Believe it or not my add or mental focus is so bad I can't remember what I am even doing half the time I play.
I wonder if we get diminishing returns by trying to do the Queen (mistlands) with a club? Wonder how long it would take to just smelt something and craft a sword at that point? I kinda follow your strat for the first two bosses, although I didn't know about /giveseeds or /die to get corpse run. Genius trick. I mainly just brought enough stuff to make the maximum number of fires as I could because I don't know how to tell where Eikthyr or Elder will spawn?
meanwhile me about to kill Yagluth after 2 years :D but hey I have several mansions and a fucking castle and so many chests full of mess I was totally going to organize last spring that I no longer even bother looking into them :D
That’s pretty crazy. I did have a question though. At the start you said no glitches and said clipping was a glitch but then I saw you killed yagluth by having him clip through floor tiles. Is that not a glitch?
I understood the rules to mean you cannot use clipping to travel. The example was you can't clip into a swamp crypt instead of using a key. Monsters clip no matter what you do. Taking advantage of monsters clipping is different from using a clip to, say, walk underwater. It sounds like monster clips are permitted.
The thing i don't like on this type of video, is that when you open your map we can clearly see that you never had a doubt where to go Ok to watch the mountain when appear, to watch a blackforest on the map etc.. But on some games, found Yag take me so much time, not just go on one single plain and found it like that, just near, on the right direction. How to know the mountain is the right one ? it's a loooot of luck too much luck for me to being done without a map generator next to you
why is your run not submitted to speedrun website? the best or better said only time in the NGRSG category there is about 9 hours 🤷♂ you should really take credit for your efforts 👍❤
lol. I gave up on playing because after hitting the first boss with around 30 fire arrows, its health was still at about 95% (rage quit on pathetic game combat). Here you are killing it in a few seconds by just placing fires on the ground!
You could try upgrading your bow, also a little tip: drawing back the arrows fully deals more damage. I would also recommend probably flinthead arrows, as they focus more damage into the actual arrow, and not the fire tick damage that the fire arrows deal. Good luck if you try it again!
the combat really clicked for me once i realized that its basically dark souls. a lot of the larger enemies can be fought by circle strafing and dodge rolling their attacks. its pretty fun once you get a feel for it
Me after 4 hours: *getting killed by greydwarfs*
Running through plains camps in his viking underwear. Just like I read in the history book.

Using exploits isn't mastering a game its mastering exploits.
Impressive still but to dedicate that much time to perfecting cheat runs is a bit of a waste. Killing things legit requires way more skill

Relogging to remove debuffs should be considered a glitch/exploit, making this run worthless.

why don't you use the melee combos using animation cancelling, are they not worth it for the stamina cost?

They have a cluster of lights/particles that start swirling/converging on one spot, so you can see where they are going to spawn.

congrats one again for WR

How much did you spend on Valheim in total, I wonder?

great job
Awesome. Remember guys, whenever you've got a goal in life, go for it.. as long as it involves sitting at home, playing video games 😆👍
