30:45 Notice how when Melisandre first came to Castle Black, Jon asked her if she was cold with what little clothes she has on, and she said the Lord's Fire kept her warm. But they already picked up on this ep that things feel rushed and don't make sense, so I'm glad they can tell the difference. S6-S8 is not really that bad, it's just bad in comparison to what the writing was at the start. I'd be interested to see what they think about the final ep for sure tho.
its not explained in this series but the Three Eyed Raven is Brynden Rivers, aka "Blood Raven" a Targaryen bastard. He was also in the Nights Watch and became Lord Commander back in his day.
This is what Mel said: We ask the Lord to let his light shine, and lead a soul out of the darkness. We ask the lord to share with him his fire, and light a candle that has burned out. From darkness - light. From ashes - fire. From death - life. x6
The Mountain actor was literally the strongest man in the world when this was filmed, so best casting possible! His name is Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, and he's considered one of the greatest strength athletes of all time.
theres hints within the books that tyrion could possbily be a targaryan and i believe the scene with the dragons could have led to something potentially more interesting like dany having her 3 dragon rider if we got the full 13 seasons grrm wanted instead of the 8 we got hoping we get the books to finally see what he had intended
The leaches represented kings. Remember, it was the War of the Five Kings. Stannis killed Remly with the demon baby. That left 4 kings (Stannis, Robb, Joffrey, and Daddy Greyjoy). The 3 leaches were for the other 3 kings, and now they've all died.
If you think about it, everything the Lord of Light showed the red woman led her to being at the Wall exactly when she needed to be there in order to bring Jon Snow back to life. Her mission was not to put Stanis on the throne, but to make sure sure Jon lived. IMO, of course. I haven't read the books so I don't know if it's explained there but it just makes sense to me...
In the books it's more magical as she doesn't support Stannis because of his claim but because she believes he is Azor Ahai reborn, the one to stop the darkness. He has a magic sword which is said to be Lightbringer the legendary sword of Azor Ahai who defeated the Others thousands of years ago. White Walkers in the books are known as the Others. The sword Stannis has glows red, orange and yellow. However maester Aemon doesn't believe it's the real Lightbringer as it doesn't have any heat coming from it. So he doesn't believe that Stannis is Azor Ahai. Melisandre's religion talks of the Great Other who is the other god that rivals R'hllor the lord of light. Here is a quote from Melisandre in the books. "Do you think I crossed half the world to put yet another vain king on yet another empty throne? The war has been waged since time began, and before it is done, all men must choose where they will stand. On one side is R’hllor, the Lord of Light, the Heart of Fire, the God of Flame and Shadow. Against him stands the Great Other whose name may not be spoken, the Lord of Darkness, the Soul of Ice, the God of Night and Terror." Here is another. "He is the Lord’s chosen, the warrior of fire. I have seen him leading the fight against the dark, I have seen it in the flames. The flames do not lie, else you would not be here. It is written in prophecy as well. When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone. The bleeding star has come and gone, and Dragonstone is the place of smoke and salt. Stannis Baratheon is Azor Ahai reborn!”

And yes, Theon and Yara's father King Baelon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands who was killed by his younger brother in this episode in the bridge scene was the final and third person in the list Melisandre and Stannis used the leeches for.
I knew Roose was dead from the minute he stupidly legitimized Ramsey. It was a little odd how blind he was to the danger considering he had shown himself to be a pretty crafty guy before.
You're right! Balon and Roose were two of the silliest/stupidest deaths in the show. In the books Balon mysteriously died way earlier (before Robb died) and Roose Bolton is still alive and is perceived by all the Northern Lords to be waaaay more dangerous than Ramsey despite everyone knowing how psychotic Ramsey is.
Theres a funny theory that Roose is a vampire which explains Ramsey becoming the leader because it would be the dad killing the bastard and then wearing his skin
Are y'all using a trial editor, that would explain why there is a translucent line in the middle of the episode that's cuts the screen in half. We get a POV chapter of a wilding skinchanger that confirms the more you enter the mind of another the more it changes you. You take on the personality of the beast and the longer you stay in their mind the less of you remains over time. Further we know from Berric (and Lady Stone Heart) that coming back from the dead changes you. Berric equates it to more of him being eaten away. (Lady Stoneheart not in the books was dead longer and her personality is completely changed to where she is entirely consumed by vengeance.) Unfortunately in the show without book material this set up is wasted as Jon is very much the same just a little more jaded because he was betrayed. There is a chance in the books that Jon being in Ghost's mind saves him from being chipped away as much as others but he most certainly will change. At minimum he will likely be more aggressive from his time as a direwolf. It is sad to think that Rob was essentially killed twice and that Ghost whimpering is because he knows Jon is being killed.
As far as decomposition, Jon is lucky he died outside in the North. It is super cold which would have slowed any decomposition drastically. Though being moved inside in front of a fire would have sped that up. They would have been smart to leave the room as cold as possible to preserve Jon's body as long as they could.
